Nope, I'm losing brain cells here
I don't waste my time arguing with illiterates so I'm out of this thread.

You have a good time polluting it with your unintelligible posts, though.

Laterzzzz.....
Yeah, I used to years ago but no heavy usage, what killed by brain cells
not getting high. Granted if I had done it a lot, maybe so, but I have 1 good friend who got high every day, she has a Master's degree and is a respected Speech Therapist, though we tease her about her specialty, "swallowing".

Agree! Board is like chatting. Work requires more brain cells.

Brain dead today - or is it hear hear? I'm going to bed.

Heck yeah! DH and both kids have their degrees,
I'm 47 and am studying Psychology at the University of Massachusetts!
44-year-old WF, M, Texas, 3 grown kids, just had 26 year wedding anv.

Last year, we took the kids out and were not
home to give out candy, so, we had none to give, obviously. Well, someone saw us return home, which was after 8:00, the end of trick or treat for my area, and they rang our doorbell. The outside light was off and everything. We did not answer the door and needless to say then smashed all of our pumpkins on the road! LOL. Hope that doesn't happen again this year. People are sick!
I could support my three kids by myself on $32,000 per year.
I don't have many bills, just mortgage, utilities, groceries, insurances, and a small car payment.  I have other career fields I can go back to if I didn't feel like doing MT any more, but this is what I want to do for now.
it can also perform utilities - one stroke deletes 1 through X words to the left, jump up

My 9 year old daughter has it now. Two other kids in her class were sick this week also.

I have tried countless times too many to mention and nothing is done about the cells phone, trains,

buses, dictating in the nursing stations with phone laughing and talking, same thing right in the OR rooms, so I give up. It is ridiculous. I think it is time for me to find another hospital or a company that will address these concerns because MQ will not do it. Mark my words. I think they are afraid of antagonizing the account. My opinion.

Be aware that as you age and lose skin cells, that will affect appearance of tatoo.

Mass affect on brain or mass effect on brain?

Do little kids like caramel? My big kids won't even eat it! We make the basic Baker's chocolat

I never said you shouldn't have kids! Feeling guilty? I asked WHY you had kids.
You clearly stated in your post that you ship the kids off to camp all day, and they're TIRED AT NIGHT!!  You know exactly what you said.  You said it as a PERK - AS IN GREAT! They're gone all day, it wears them out, and so I shovel dinner in their mouths and off to bed!  You can try to paint it any way you want, but YOU SAID IT.  Again, I only hope your kids never hear you speak that way or write that way. Shame on you.  Why have kids at all?  Just another parent who has them, gets rid of them for day AND night, BRAGS ABOUT IT, and then calls ME wicked!  Give me a break!  Camp is fine - its WHAT YOU SAID AND YOU KNOW IT.  Your own words showed your heart. Period.
Marry me?! :) Seriously...hear, hear. Good post. - nm

Kids are demanding and so is MT work. My question is how CAN you do this with kids, rather than how
When you have two young kids, 11 months apart, (like I stated they are now 4 and 5) and have been doing this since they were born with no help from their father and no family around, YES, the kids get neglected. Part time might work but living on one salary, part time, is not an option. How can you possible tell me that anyone with two young kids can stay at home and work a full-time, 8-hour shift, and still give their kids the attention they NEED. I dont care how good you are at multitasking and how great your organizational skills are. It is a very difficult thing to do. And I am offended by your post making it sound as if it is easy to do.

I do agree that it can depend on how well your kids behave and how well they are able to play on their own. But my kids were not able to play well on their own. They needed constant attention.

So please take the time to realize that there are people out there in different situations than your own.

Reading our posts should help you to understand that everyone has a different situation. I believe everyone should have the right to shares their experiences as it might benefit the original poster in her questions and concerns.

I dont think anyone should be bashed for taking the time out to write about their experiences. I dont usually come on here to argue but you really ticked me off with your post. And try reading the post correctly. I said next time around I would have put them in day care. What I DID do with them was set them up to an activity like art or put on a movie for them. Geez.
Stayed "because of the kids?" I say "leave because of the kids"
You're in no position to buy right now. Keep saving, keep paying down your bills, and for heaven's sake get rid of that dead weight of a BF you're living with. You can do better.
So, should I return the $75 (x2 kids) in music cards I got the kids for x-mas...sm
My son has been telling me about free music sites and I was very leary.  How do they skirt the law Radguy?
I don't have kids, but my Mom was from the "old school," and still had everyone, kids inclu

call her by her first name.  The little neighbor girl next door from the time she could speak called her Aggie (my mom's first name), and they were great buddies until the day my mom pased away.

I don't think there really is much in a name, but more in the respect you are given and the way you are treated.   Personally, I kind of cringe inside when someone calls me Ms. Anything or God forbid, "maam" (makes me feel like Methuselah!) ... I'm always just plain Merrie.  :-)

But, as someone pointed out, to each his own.  If you want to be addressed a certain way, you have that right, and people should respect that.  I'm glad you corrected the child ... hope it "sticks."

Hear, hear! I agree with Dakota - sm
The MTSO should be giving feedback to the hospital/doctors who slur, speak too rapidly, etc. They need to pull up their socks! And there's no reason why these doctors shouldn't be given an outline of what is expected from them when they dictate, such as cell phones, chewing food, candy, gum, etc.
Please do not simply give up, kids or no kids!
Talk with a professional. This can be worked through if he really puts forth the effort and you participate. The right counseling can truly make your marriage even better than it was before, if BOTH parties are willing to be honest. Give it a try. Nothing to lose at this point and everything to gain!
Mine are in year-round thank goodness! They've started their new year 2 months ago.

Union diesil mechanic - good pay, great benefits. We swap year to year on who brings home more sm
money.....but I am an IC and he has all the benefits...health insurance/dental that the company pays for, pension plan, 401k, etc.  Factor all of that in and he makes way more than I do.
oh please. Put in a brain. Unfortunately your
type of thinking is very common in our field.
to cowgirl - Last I knew, last year the job paid $25,000/year no taxes, etc.
The hospital was bombed about a year ago, but not a lot of damage, very minimal damage.
nope, still crunching last few days of year to hit my 50k this year. how can you when you haven'
;
Oh, heck, YES!!!

It's always feast or famine around here.  One week, I'll be sitting on my thumbs stressing about bills and not enough work.  The next week, everyone dumps so much on me that I'm working double shifts.  Why can't it be regular instead of sporadic?  Then again, I do rather like those unexpected days off and not being chained to a desk during certain hours like with the nationals.  I work when I want to as long as I meet TAT.

Do you really want to work 10-12 hours a day?  And you know that some days it will be 6 hours and some days 18 hours because it is truly feast or famine.  I took on a third IC job recently because things were so slow for weeks with my other two.  The other two must have heard me accept the third job because I got dumped on.  I wound up wigging out and quitting the third position.  I feel really bad about leaving her in the lurch, but holy cow! A human body can only take so much of this.

I don't see the little sleep deprived icon with cramped up fingers and pedal foot.  Owie.  I'm just not going to gripe about not getting much sleep or time off.  Work is good.  Being unemployed is bad.

Do the local docs pay more than the national?  And their workload is a lot easier, too.  You get the same dictators every day saying the same things over and over again so you can use your word expander to the max.  Make a list of pros and cons and see which is better.

How the heck did you get that?
Interpretation of my post: I like ESLs not for any other reason other than I LIKE ESLs. Whatever impact that has on those who can't or won't do them is not MY problem.

Oh so thankful to have a job? Sounds to me like you are the one who should be thankful to have a job considering you have a hang-up about doing a majority of what our job description is.
What the heck is CMT?

No way in heck!
Everytime I scroll through the channels and I even see that show for 1 second, I feel like getting a hammer and hitting the wall with it repeatedly. Those women are gross!
What the heck are you looking for?

Most women I know that think men are scum continue to end up with the same type.

It's usually a self-esteem issue on the woman's part which harbors lack of trust and very high expectations concerning the opposite sex.

You need to lower your expectations and give to others as much as you would expect to be given to you.

Only then will you realize that not "all" men are scum, just possibly the ones that you choose to hook up with.

Heck no!

I mean, like really, why in the world should you let your clients know that you're going to be out of town for a couple of weeks??!!

Why, let em' wonder where you are and why their work's not being done.  I can't think of a better way to do business, get lots of referrals, and build a solid bond of trust!

Heck no, 41's not too old
Honey, 41 is NOT OLD...OK! Go for it...you'll do GREAT!!! Best of luck to ya...and I envy you...I wanna do that too, so bad.  I might...when I get 41!!!
Me too, then got the heck out of there. (sm)

I thougth for sure I was going to have my computer light up, start erasing data, or something.

What in the heck is EHR and what does this mean
to us as transcriptionists? I have worked in VR and know about this but am told here lately still a demand for MTs as healthcare is steadily moving towards EHR. Where exactly does this leave MTs - out of a job or like VR, some sort of editing? TIA
Why the heck don’t you all just
quit, do something different, anything? I have so many years in this and enjoy my work. If you don’t like the salary/work, etc. you can always do something else, can't you?? This job paid for homes, vehicles, travel, raising kids, the bills- if you don’t make enough money and just want to stay at home, how about a second or third transcription job to go along with the one you have already. Quityourbellyaching.
I say, to heck with that!
There is no way I would work for a company that does that. You should not, either. Work for a company that respects its MTs. There are such around. Look at the company board for ideas. Plese do not accept this!!
Well, heck, do tell about it! :-)

I'm in the market, I think.  I'm starting from scratch and I want to get what's right the first time, if possible.

Well heck. -sm
The link didn't work like I thought it would. If you put cardiology in the specialty field it will bring up a list of cardio sample reports. Sorry about that.
Heck no.
Too much? Not nearly enough, if you ask me... but I guess the question is really, can you actually GET that kind of $$ or more....

And that wasn't of any help at all. Sorry. Guess you have to decide whether you are willing to work for that, if your costs will be covered, and whether it's worth it to you.
Brain surgery... ha....sm

when I thing of some of the doctors I've known over the years, we could probably learn brain surgery before they could learn transcription !

If he had a brain, he'd take it out and play with it
x
Who needs to use the other side of the brain?

Life is complicated enough for us guys!

open your pea brain :)

he comes from the ghetto, his family still lives in the ghetto, he's trying to help kids in the ghetto......and you want him in a TIE, TUX, and TAILS?  He is dancing for a charity.  That's all he's there for.  To get $$ toward his charity of helping kids in and around the ghetto.

Perhaps you want him to dress like the late Fred Astaire?

Get real.................

Brain spazzm...

Eh, those adapters really were ''gender changers'' (or gender *and* type changers).  Maybe something more like this (what I'd do anyway, if needing to frequently plug and unplug any USB device ... an extender would make that much easier, too):

Ischium now in the brain?!!!

Had to take my son yesterday for a CT of his right ischium, to check for osteomyelitis.  I gave that info to the person on the phone when I made the appointment.  Soooo - get to the imaging place, and get all the myriad forms to fill out; at the top, under 'Test Performed', was 'CT scan of the brain'.  I went back up to the desk to question this of the secretary (who is a retired nurse!!), and she looked at me and actually said 'The ischium is in the brain''!!!!!!!!!!  Told hubbie later, and he said I should have told her, not unless my head was up my ***!

I'm sure the techs would have caught it when they looked at the script from the doc, but still!!!!

brain is not working, the 15% was only the SE tax- sm
still need to pay your state and federal on top of that. I have not sat down and actually figured that out by itself, need to do that though.
Don't know where my brain is today - sm
I am drowning in work, have 200 minutes due by Monday and I am not used to doing more than 60 minutes a day. But I guess 200 rolls of nickels is a bit much, $400, I think a roll is $2.00- but depending on the person they will need at least 50-100 rolls. That is a lot of nickels!
Thanks. The brain gives me problems too (sm)

(in Radiology), but Google helps.  Stedman's Radiology book is great, with all the CTs, MRIs and PET scans of the head.  I'm pretty sure it would help with some head-related Neurosurg.
