Hi! I'm in NC

As far as weather, it's been crazy here lately, like most places. We do have 4 seasons, but the winters are much, much shorter and easier than up in WI where I'm from. Spring tends to arrive in Feb or March a lot (using daffodil emerge as "start of spring." Of course this year they started poking up in January. Cold weather has been very intermittent. Most of the time, the coldest it gets at night is 20 degrees. Not nearly the wind that I'm used to in windy WI, either. We get a lot of humidity, but it's weird because it's in the morning more so than the afternoon, so it seems worse than it actually is.

Crime in Raleigh has been ultra low, but our wonderful police superintendent who made a huge improvement in violent crime is leaving us, darn it. For work, Charlotte seems to have even more than Raleigh, and if you really appreciate having big-city amenities, Charlotte has more than Raleigh, or so I have heard. Don't consider Durham - terrible crime and poor pay. But the traffic in Charlotte is horrible. Raleigh is bad enough that way. Raleigh is closer to the fantastic beaches we have. Charlotte is closer to the fantastic mountains we have. I think I heard Charlotte is a tiny bit hotter, which is weird since they are closer to the mountains. Both have great suburbs to choose from. You are going to love the housing prices, especially in the suburbs, but they say once you move here you can't afford to go back because of that. Charlotte housing may be more - not sure. I can give you a Realtor's name if you decide on Raleigh.
