If you have a pop up blocker on your computer, perhaps--sm
with your antivirus program, turn it on. If not, I would suggest getting a popup blocker from somewhere and using it. You can program them to block pages like that.
My computer must have a flash/blink blocker.

Beta-blocker the patient is a candidate for the (SOUND LIKE) cavatidall???

You don't need to disable ..sm..
the laptop keyboard to plug in another one.  When you plug in the other one, it just takes over.
TY here, too. Would I be able to disable that w/ just a key command?

How do I disable Shorthand for more than

I know Esc stops one entry at a time, but sometimes (and I can't think where at the moment), ShortHand in general works but hitting Esc causes problems and throws me out of my document..

And for instance, if I'm typing here on MT Stars and I don't want Shorthand to work at all, do I have to pull up the Shorthand box and uncheck AutoReplace, or is there a quick keystroke that acts as a toggle?

Which web browser are you using?
Internet Explorer, Netscape, or Mozilla?  I had a weird problem with one of my websites that I couldn't access all of a sudden.  I think I deleted an internet utility, registry entry, or some java doohickey, or it's possible they changed their website.  Anyway, I downloaded Mozilla and use that for this specific website now.  I don't have time to mess with trouble shooting Internet Explorer, and I have a new computer sitting in boxes behind me that I haven't had time to set up yet.  Give Mozilla a try just to see what happens.
what browser are you using?
With internet explorer I was so now I'm using Firefox, everything is going fine.

I suspect it has to do something with the security breach with IE.
How does one temporarily disable expansions
x
yes, need to disable your expansions in Word and...

you also need to open ShortCut BEFORE you open your platform (Word or whatever you are using).

Good luck.

You should disable call-waiting because if you are....
doing a low-speaking doc and have the volume up high, you'll blow your ear drums out. On the other hand, if that is your only line, what if someone from work needs to get in touch with you? As far as losing the job you're working on, it would depend on how the system is set up and whether or not the work is assigned to you or in a pool. I'm not sure if the phone has a "hold" button or not. It's been a while since I used one but I had 2 lines so it wasn't a problem. Good luck.
It is best to disable the call waiting
so you have less interruptions as it can be annoying but I don't think it will mess up the dictation. Also, may want to look into getting voice mail through phone company rather than your own answering machine if you don't already have that so you don't miss any important calls. My set up is such that all unanswered calls go to voice mail.
can you disable laptop keyboard?,

i thought i remembered seeing on these boards that to hook up a peripheral keyboard to a laptop, you have to disable the laptop one? i cannot find info when i try to search...if so, how do you do it?

many thanks.

What is your fave browser?
Mine is Firefox - love how fast it is, plus tabbed browsing rules! Much better and safer than old Internet Explorer, I must say. BTW, the newest version of Firefox comes out today (free download) which is supposed 2B even better!
Check your browser
Possibly updated or reinstalled?

If you have Firefox, go to Tools ---> Options ----> Content. IE is similar.

You will see a link for "colors." You can check to see what the current settings are for "visited" and "unvisited" links.

Foxfire browser
I noticed someone below mentioned they use Foxfire.  Any comments on this browser?  Is it much better?  Any specifics appreciated.
Can you disable the lighting on this if you find it distracting? nm

cant you use your browser's back button -nm

no. it is an internet browser. Windows is the OS. nm

I know that IE is an internet browser and I know that Windows is an OS!
Sheesh!  My point is they are both made by Microsoft and they both have endless updates.  That was my point.  Apparently it went over the heads of some.  Next time I'll try and dumb down my response.

Yes, if it's enabled. You can disable Insert key and still turn on overtype.

Have to disable Norton Internet Sec & Del all Temp files every time, why???
I cannot get the links to stay but I know it has to be due to something in Norton because if I disable Norton Internet Security and then go to Tools, Internet Options, choose General tab, then Temporary Files, Delete Files, Delete all off line content, and hit okay, then I get them back, but they don't stay consistently. :(

Can anyone tell me what needs to be changed/added in Norton's Internet Security to keep the links/forums available in the blue/on the left side??? I have tried everything I can think of. I sure would appreciate your help.

TIA.
Switching your internet browser doesn't automatically
make you immune to ALL viruses. Firefox is a browser just like Internet Explorer. The Windows XP viruses come through your operating system, not your browser. Viruses can also come through your email program. Your ports can be hacked no matter which browser you use, too.
downloading a tabbed browser will solve that problem

Is the tool bar in your internet browser?... is the emial web based or Outlook?

My Norton's just blocked a browser exploit with a high security risk...
just now when I entered the main board forum here on MTSTars.  I would like to know what that is all about!

It's really not a great idea to disable Windows updates. Just because updates are scheduled to be
installed, does not mean 7.0 will be automatically installed on your pc.  You will always receive a notification when installing anything other than critical updates, which 7.0 is not.
*70 will disable call waiting unless you are expecting a call and want it on (nm)
