if you settle with MQ cause the others are no better...sm
doesn't that make all the other ones crappy, too? Every job has it's perks, as well as it's crap.  That's just life.  As for me, MQ works. I'm not saying that it will for everyone, just my own personal experience.
electricity/gas
I do not know how they can do that. I would think during the wintertime especially with snow on the ground that heat is not a luxury, but necessity. Over here in the Bay Area, at least in the South Bay, they said that our gas is not going to go up as much because we have had mild weather, but still will go up by 25%.
First of all, settle down there trigger...

I don't know where the animosity is coming from.  Noone was being hateful about anything.  I think it's a fair enough statement to say to her with your experiences and mine both that it's about even on the amount of companies that pay by report and pay by the line.  Was just trying to let her know that by the report was not the end all to be all out there for rad.  There are still alot of companies that pay by the line.

Secondly, I am very happy for you that you are making such great money getting paid by the report.  I wish I had the same opportunities in front of me that you have had so I could make the better choice, but obviously I haven't had that.  I would love to get better pay for what I do and have done for so long, but I have had to make the decisions based on the offers in front of me at the time.

You really didn't need to be so nasty about it...I wasn't trying to say nobody out there gets paid as well as you by the report...I was simply trying to make sure she understood that alot of us are still drudging along with by the line pay.

SO right. People like that, who *settle* are

another electricity question
It's me again with a question about heating costs.  I have a gas furnace, which, in the past, was known to be a lot cheaper to run than electric.  This year, though, our power company has raised the gas heating prices to near the level of electric.  My office is colder than the rest of the house.  I can run a small electric space heater in here, BUT it costs a fortune to run, MUCH more per day than running the furnace.  Can't shut off the rest of the house and just run the furnace in my office, as family members need heat in other parts of the house.  Any advice?
heat/electricity, etc.

My office is upstairs in my house.  I work nights, so I have the settings on my automatic thermostat lower at night to be more efficient.  However, with the office upstairs, it is always warmer (heat rises), so even when the rest of the house is cooler, I am just comfy.

Also, have heard that when not using the computer, it is still using energy if it is turned on, so when going to be away from computer for a while, remember to turn it off.

Also, in my master bedroom, I have found this room gets very cold, especially at night on cold nights.  I think this is caused by the fact that it is in the corner of my house, with 2 large outside walls, and is also located above the garage (which is colder).  I purchased a small electric (porcelain I think or something like that) for about $30, and I don't think it uses that much electricity.  It has a thermostat system, so will cycle on and off to keep the room at the set temperature.  This works great for this room, as I keep the door closed.

Good luck!

Yes, they will turn the electricity off in New England sm

if you get behind and aren't at poverty level.  They raised our electric rates about 10% this year and there is another increase coming at us next month 15%, not to mention the increased heating oil (which most regions don't have to pay for) plus the increased gasoline.  Isn't that special!  Meanwhile, they are threatening us with rolling electric blackouts when it gets cold.  They are really setting us up.

I'd still settle for 5 ft 2 in. Of course I wouldn't mind

be 5'6"+ and having legs that just wouldn't quit, but then I wouldn't be the person I've become and I much prefer who I am to who I might have been.

DId it cost a lot to run it/electricity bill go way up? nm

Why *settle* for less than you made in the ྌs?
.
Should I make the car payment, pay the electricity, or
buy a few small Christmas presents for the kids? Of course, the electric company won't wait one more week to get their money.
You went unemployed for a year to settle for IC work
So you pay huge amounts for your own taxes, benefits, etc. No PTO, no sick time, no holidays.

Good job on holding out there! Way to go!

Pretty sad when you have to settle for a crappy company because all the rest are no better.

I don't work for that company, geez, huney, settle down

deduct everything you can think of, electricity, phone, home office if you chose to, supplies, inter
you get the picture. I don't do the home office deduction though because we keep saying we are going to build on a lot we have and things get screwed up with taxes due to this, something with depreciation, not really sure, know someone who had this problem though, owed a lot back. When we do move, then I will take it since I know it won't be an issue then. I write off about $2-$3K a year which helps some. Was paying quartly but have not done it in 2 years as I usually don't owe more than $1200 and my husband has extra taken out of his pay, so that has always, so far, taken care of any taxes I have "owed". -- Check out the IRS website they have plenty of info on the subject.
Just turn it off and wait for the electricity to dissipate and then clean it and turn it back on. nm
