- Check at a local nursery/garden center for varieties that are bred for your area, then check online - for better deals. nm

We planted a tree
We had a sink hole starting in our backyard once, it was small at first but was getting deeper and wider. That year we planted our live Christmas tree in the hole, with some additional dirt and gravel, etc. My husband figured the roots would help hold the soil in place and it seemed to work for us... no more hole, just a beautiful evergreen.
