Can't just ignore this one and move on....This is totally unfair. So, your options are to ignore it or be proactive and find yourself more work somewhere else. It may or may not be beneficial to discuss your suspicions with the one who told you to cut back your hours. Even if you are an employee with no contract, it seems that this is a breech of an implied contract on their part. If I were in your shoes, loyalty to them would have gone down the drain, especially if the cutback in your hours was to provide more work for someone else, not due to lack of work coming from the client. Just my 2 cents.
