My fones have been in my tower for years now as sound is so much clearer. No probs. nm

I use an external sound card and my ear phones plug into that on my Dell. I find this so much bette
of the computer and #2 because there is a volume switch in the sound card (Soundblaster about $50).
Try plugging into the jack in the back of the tower. Do you get noise w/

It's better sound for one thing. C-phones are just old dinosaur technology.

You plug it into an outlet, plug in the phone cord, hook up the
footpedal and the headset and it works.
Plug adapter into serial port, plug foot pedal into adapter,
plug adapter into USB port.
I've never seen any sound bar key commands beyond ...

volume down, Alt+Shift+Down Arrow  and I'd guess the up arrow to increase volume. I have a microsoft ergo keyboard with volume up and down keys ... so I usually keep my "volume" at max and just tone it down ... Personally, I'd love a key command to "jump forward" for my endlessly pausing dictators (and a  "jump back" for when I overshoot their FINALLY figuring out what they want to say .... I'm watching your post in hope that someone knows something....

Oh you are right - I should have made it clearer..sm
I was talking about QA.  It is confusing a bit.  I was offered a position with Transcend many months ago but I was scared to jump out and try a new position with a new company, even though my workload with my company was getting less and less.  I was looking for good health insurance, PTO, etc...which Transcend seemed like they had good benefits.   I guess I was just too scared to quit my job that I have been with for sometime to try out a new company.  I guess maybe I had better work on that aspect too.  Thanks for the clarification!
I remember the belts. Dictation was clearer on those than sm
the cell phone and/or digital garbage available today.
I love Directv. The picture is soooo much clearer than cable. sm
Prices in our area are comparable between cable and DirecTV.  If you look at their website, you can pull up comparison charts showing exactly which channels are on each service package.  You can sort them by number or alphabetically and print them out if necessary.
It is a tower, not laptop.
I was having a guy come tomorrow because needed set up and the cable checked out (have been having some fade outs with my service, even guy from Charter supposedly set me up with wireless, still issues). Yes, only 1 port, can you believe?
I don't think you have to configure anything. I always am plugged into tower, but can do either.

Does anyone have their earphones plugged into their tower instead of speakers?? (sm)
I have a coworker who does not have an earphone plug-in on her speakers but she does on her tower.  Does anyone know how to configure this to be able to hear through her earphones when plugged into the tower?  Thank you in advance.
I just ordered a cheap tower with XP on it. See inside
Vista Premium Down Grade Transactional Desktop
Inspiron 530s,Intel Pentium Conroe Dual Core Processor E5200(2.5GHz,800FSB) with 2MB cache

This was 390.00. Had to get it as Vista has deemed my laptop useless to me.

I really do think Microsoft should refund all of us for this useless program.

Good luck.
My company sent me a large tower computer to
I appreciate the computer, but the tower is huge! My desk doesn't have any place for a tower (it's not a computer desk and I can't afford to buy one).  What's a good way to place the tower so that all the wires will fit (other than on top of the desk?).
I put my left leg on top of the computer tower, works great

Radio Shack...easy, cheap.
speaker plug-in
I have a Dell and I had to invest in a set of Labtec speakers where you can plug the headphones directly into the speaker. I had already tried everything else and I just couldn't get enough volume out any other way. The speakers are available through TranscriptionGear.com, I believe and were quite reasonable.
I don't know what the Koss Plug is, but for myself I just
The kind with the small, hard ends that fit into your ear, not the big, round, padded ends with the foam on them. They're under $20. They don't hurt at all, and I find the sound quality to be fine--but I've not had a lot of experience with other, higher quality earplugs.
Usually when you plug in the headset
that automatically send the sound to the headphones instead of the speaker. This could be a DAC with a problem unless someone else knows a secret that I don't. Try a different headset and see if the results are the same.
Do wi-fi places let you plug your lap top into

No, there is no where on my speakers to plug into so I must ..sm
plug the headset directly into the back of the computer..on the floor..hard to access. Then I have to unplug the headset and plug up the speakers when I want to use them so not quite an ideal set-up!
I just plug into my computer, but I use

Audio Advantage by Turtle Beach.  It supposedly bypasses your sound card and the dictation is a little bit clearer.

I had one account that provided computer and they sent me speakers, but there was such a hum/static with using the speakers that I couldn't use them.   Others with the same company complained about the hum/static too.

Need help with USB plug, no audio
Just tried a new USB headset and now no audio at all. Did what I was asked to do but noticed under control panel it is not acknowleding the USB, saying SoundMax digital and cannot get the USB to show and also under sounds it says no sounds. I have unplugged several tiems, rebooted several times and have no clue as to how to get sound now. TIA.
anyone who needs to plug in an extra USB
You can go to Walgreen's and buy a Hub for $10.00 apx and then plug it into the computer.  However, if it doesn't work at first, unplug it and then plug it back in.  This only works for the mouse, keyboard and foot pedal, not the printer plug.  The printer plug must be plugged in directly into the computer.
I only have 1 plug in on my new computer
I need 2 of those, 1 for the monitor, 1 for the foot pedal. I got splitter tonight and both ends are female, need male and female to handle what I need. I have Infinity foot pedal that I use for voice recognition. Does that make any more sense?
Sometimes they are setup so no place available to plug in. You
should probably get a new battery.
Can you just plug the headset into the speakers?

If you could possibly get new speakers with plug-in...

Do you mean the power plug in adapter? nm

Isn't USB one type of plug for the footpedal?
When I was getting set up, I remember it was important my computer could take the right plug for the footpedal. It wasn't the flat USB (?) type, but the phone plug type, so my computer had to have openings shaped for a phone jack type.

But I'm still not sure if DLS is okay to use or not. Sorry!
I plug my headset directly...

...into the computer in the jack that you plug speakers into.

You might need to bypass the USB hub and plug directly in. sm
I have had this problem with other USB devices.  I just switch around until I find one that will work in hub.  I don't use EMDAT so don't know if that's the problem.  Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.
I plug my keyboard into the laptop. nm
.
Same here. I just pack my keyboard and plug it in.
There is no way I could be productive on a standard laptop keyboard.
Here is what I did....my foot pedal has a 15-pin plug. sm
My foot pedal is an IN-BMG. On my old tower, I plugged it into the "joy stick" port on my tower. That is the only place you have to put it if you have a 15-pin pedal. Then, when I got a new computer, it has 2 USB in front and 4 in back, I took my pedal to Radio Shack and got an adapter. The pins on my pedal go into the holes in the adapter, and the other end goes into one of my USB ports on the front of my tower. I have not had a bit of trouble with it since I have been at home and that has been 5 years.
C-phones
Are C-phones worth the trouble and expense of getting one? I work for a small company and now the docs want to go back to them! I thought they were rather obsolete. Also, what kind of cost is involved in unlimited long distance plus do you have to have a separate phone line for these?
C-phones
Aren't C-phones a little outdated or it is just my imagination? I was working on a contingent basis for a wonderful small company but now the owner says the docs like the C-phone better and have switched from that after using the voice-activated equipment for awhile. I enjoyed the work but not the expense of purchasing outdated equipment that I doubt I would use anywhere else. So for now, I have virtually NO work
c phones
I have been searching for a job again and I see one that needs me to have one. Don't know anything at all about them. What are they and what do they do? thanks!
ear phones
Got them at Radio Shack.  I got the less expensive ones, and am sorry I didn't get the fancier, more expensive ones.  I think they would be worth it.  Will be getting some better ones later.
ear phones
I have no idea, honestly. I just don't like wearing a "leash," as well. Also, the ones MQ sent are about 10 feet long.

I know when I see teenagers blasting their music directly into their ears, it not only aggravates me because I can hear it, but it makes me think they'll probably become deaf or hard-of-hearing at an early age.
Ear phones
I also have C-phone and hate the chinset ear phones.  They dig into my ears, and give me a headache.  I got on ebay and searched on C-phone.  I ran across a pair of ear buds (like an MP3 player has) that are 2-prong, and only for the Dictaphone system.  Very excited to get them!

where to get ear phones
ear phones
Just ordered a pair from the company I work for today, but if the company does not provide them, I have, in the past ordered on line from Lanier. They have a website. Another possibility someone just brought to my attention is Radio Shack. Also Dictaphone makes them, which I have ordered also in the past. They have a website,
C-phones
A C-phone is a telephone with a foot pedal where you pick up your dictation. You dial into a number given by your employer/hospital. Used C-phones can run 100-150.00, and new ones are around 700.00-900.00. Try EBay, as I believe they have them under medical transcription. I have used one for years and really like it. Quality of the dictation is usually perfect.
What ear phones do you use?

I noticed a huge difference in my ability to hear when I switched from regular "transcription" ear phones to a really good quality Bose stereo headphone.  It was a $$ investment, to be sure, but I figured it was worth it since it's tax deductible and I hear more without having to leave as many blanks.

Good luck.  Hope you find a solution that works for you.

c-phones
Don't know about being the same, but I have one for sale if you are interested.
The last time I ate at Jack in the Box

I got the 24 hour flu, diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea the whole thing.  My body could not wait to get that stuff out of me.  Working at home, I always prepare meals, and eat healthy, have a fruit smoothie maker, and a veggie juicer, and can afford the time it takes to prepare these things since its convenient.  But about two weeks ago, I was out and about and thought hmm, a nice greasy hamburger sounds good, (mom calls them "loogie" burgers)  so I got a number 2 and number 4 at Jack in the Box, gobbled it down, sick the next day.

I also got food poisening from a local chinese food place a few years ago, that is THE most violent illness (anybody have the misfortune to experience this?).  I didnt feel right immediately after I got the last bite of lemon chicken down, sort of weak, later that night my stomach gurgled like it was trying to jump out of my body, intestinal stuff went on, diarrhea, fever the next morning, couldnt move.  I felt that chicken map its way through my entire system.  I was so hungry, that I didnt take the time to notice it was gray in color.  By that night I was completely fine after the last drop had left my body.

Don't trust other people to prepare your food these days!  There is a reason its called fast food, anything can jump on there, so fast they don't even notice it!  With cheap labor, do you think the people who prepare the food care about you and/or their job?  They can get fired and go work at another joint like that.  I would pay the extra money to get take out at the outback or get one of those frozen box meals at the grocery store.
