Shorthand is great short cut program,
I wish you the best.
I love fall but it is too short. nm
s
I've done this for a short period.

I had a doctor who hated to dictate.  He hired someone that was a resident, but then that physician moved on to other things.  I actually liked it because it was feast or famine.  I eventually dropped the account (not enough profit) and it was after it took 3 months to pay me.  Never again will I waste time on accounts that do not pay.  I learned my lesson.

Here's a very short list I've gathered of places

I don't know how current this list is or even if the PCs are still being provided.  Make contact at your own risk:  Diskriter.  Precyse.  Opti-Script (Penn. - they'll give you the loaded tower and you can use own monitor if you want.). CIT (Charts in Time - also will just send the tower and not the monitor if you want.)  WebMedX (with a fee?? - maybe before, don't know about now.)  Trans-Tech (with a fee? - not sure), and possibly Spheris and Amphion.  Sorry this may be old info.. Hope others can add to it and update the list. ....NM in NY

I worked at Wendy's too, for a short time (sm)
They had me working early morning shifts on Saturdays and I think they picked a wrong time for me LOL

One particular morning I was frying bacon for breakfast and early lunch burgers. Seems there was supposed to be a bucket under the grill, toward the back part, to catch all of this grease from the bacon. I kept scraping it into that little hole and a few batches later, I noticed I was slipping and sliding! There was bacon grease all over that floor!!!! I didn't fry bacon anymore. I became the drink person. ahahahaha!!
The boy's father was released after a short period of time.
So were the others who were thought to be involved.  You have very little knowledge of this case as does Mrs. Twitty.  Maybe you should just calm down and educate yourself on Aruban law and justice.

Not anymore. For some time now, I've been working 32 hours and am considered full time to receive

Try ShortHand if you love PRD+. sm
It reminds me a lot of PRD, but oh so much better.  No maximum on the amount of shortcuts you can put in ShortHand.  No changing buffers.  I don't believe ShortHand works with DOS, though.  You can even convert your PRD   files to ShortHand, but will have to tweak them all.
Love Shorthand....sm

It works with all windows based programs, not just Word or Word Perfect.  XXXXXXX used to have a huge list of entries that you could add to most Expander programs.  With Shorthand, you have your main dictionary that you set up and then a linked dictionary, which is how I set up the entries from the XXXXXXX site.  It is a list of about 100,000 entries, I believe.

As far as brand name drugs go, ones that I use frequently in the specialties that I type (GI and cardiology), I enter them in my expander already capitalized so that I do not have to hit the shift key when typing.  This may not save a lot of time, but time is money in this business and every little bit helps.  I use my expander program and macros to the fullest extent to save time in typing reports.

If you decided to go this route and you cannot get the list from XXXXXXX any longer, let me know by e-mail....I would be glad to send you the file.

I love IT. Don't know anything about Shorthand...
But I have increased my productivity 60-70% in the past year and a half using Instant Text. Some people complain about it being hard to get used to because it runs across the bottom of the screen, but I like it. I have mine set to show me 9 rows at a time so I usually don't even have to type out the entire short form before I see it and can choose it. They also don't like getting used to hitting the ; key as the marker instead of the space bar (there is a mode where you can use it like PRD but then you lose a lot of the features). It took me about 2-3 weeks to get really used to using the marker keys and now I'm so used to it that it is automatic. A big pro is that if you switch jobs you can take it with you because it links to multiple applications. (I work 2 jobs and use it on both platforms which is great, no more adding expansions to 2 separate glossaries). I like that you can separate and make multiple glossaries if you want, the compile and continuation features save tons of time, I like that you have the option of entering both words and phrases, it comes in handy for those big long single words. I keep a list of all my drugs on my word side and once I enter them I never have to look up the spelling again. You can set it to automatically capitalize letters after a . or : and you can set it to automatically add 1 or 2 spaces after a period or colon or a comma. I like not having to worry about what I name my short forms, it doesn't matter if the abbreviation can also be a real word (ie PAT) because you don't accidentally expand them just by hitting the space bar.

Anyhow, like I said I don't know if ShortHand is anything like it, but as you can tell I am a huge fan of IT and think it is the best thing that has happened to my line counts in my 16 years of transcribing.
Have Shorthand, love it SM
I have no experience with the other program, but can still recommend ShortHand without reservation. It's always done everything I've wanted, very fast, very flexible, many more features than I actually use, no problems with a couple of new platforms with new accounts, and no lockups or weirdouts--very stable, bless it!

I didn't monitor the increase in my productivity, but it's been tremendous. I can't imagine just limping along with Explorer Tools, for instance, when superb programs like this are available.

BTW, although Shorthand will also provide a list of possible expansions for words as you type, I turned that feature off from the very beginning and started memorizing my abbreviations on the assumption that I would want to proof as I went and taking my eyes off the report itself could only slow me down.
ShortHand is what I use and LOVE it! nm

I've never used Shorthand (sm)
but normally ST is on the tool bar.  Someone from another MT board was kind enough to list the command functions so I can add words, so maybe that will help.
I've tried most, and my favorite is Shorthand. nm
x
Amen to that. Love Shorthand because you can do macros, too. nm
x
aneurysm... love shorthand - just type anu and there it is...(NM)
xx
Use ExText for 1 job. Love it! Works with my ShortHand. Wish they all used it! nm
s
Love ShortHand and believe you can download it for a trial. Might be others out there, too. nm
s
I also love Shorthand and recommend without reservations. sm
Every once in a while I see people posting issues on other Expanders I just haven't experienced with Shorthand.  Very stable and workable with the platforms I've used, and I find the ability to use symbols in abbreviations an extremely useful feature.  I originally chose it for its very large storage capacity compared to others at that time and pretty much lucked out with the rest.
Thank you so much... I love shorthand, but that always drove me crazy - sm
I have gone in and changed mine.  Just proves you can learn something new each day, or you can teach an old dog new tricks, not sure which... lol
ShortHand gets my vote. I've been using it for years...sm
And you can add canned text into your expander, which really boosts production.
and when was the last time you used shorthand?
Things change, skills and techology become obsolete. This isn't the first time a job will become replaced by techology and it certainly won't be the last.

When was the last time you saw a door to door salesman? When was the last time you called a customer service department and got a live person on the phone right off the bat? When was the last time you needed a travel agent that was a person instead of Expedia, Orbitz, or Cheap Tickets.com?

It happens all the time. This isn't the only job in the world. Learn something else or apply at Burger King.
I am going to order Shorthand for myself today. I love it. You can also manage your words in

I use Shorthand for Windows and love it. I have found it works well with most every program. SM

I have used with Word and Word Perfect.  I have used it with Meditech and Cerner.  I have used it with RadNet and StarNavigator for Radiology.  I can use it with my email applications and on the internet if I choose.  If the Expander is open and running, you can use it with any and every window program you use.

I was really simple to learn to use too.  Very user friendly.

Ask the ShortHand techs. They've always responded back very promptly to my

I used Short Keys, not Short hand for Bayscribe, it worked fine.
x
I've used both. Prefer Shorthand for being able to hold entire reports in an abbrvn. nm
s
I've had 3 at one time, but only one open at a time. nm
xx
Both Shorthand and Intant Text inserts the font being used at the time.

To the person giving the ShortHand tips - thank you very much for taking time to share!! nm
nm
I'VE USED IT 2 YEARS AND LOVE IT!!

I find it to be a really easy platform to learn and to use. I've used it for 2-1/2 years now. It has its own expansion program and I also find it really user-friendly.

Love it! I've said for years..sm
I didn't believe it would ever catch on - how many doctors would spend 10 minutes trying to get that much dictation done?
Ditto, short ERs or short OPs....short anything! sm
And I especially don't like long OPs, they are the most boring for me, and the doctors pause a lot cause they have to think more. I just want to be done with it! Next!!! ; )
I've been working just under a year and am on ER.. LOVE it!

You've obviously never had your time
wasted while trying to understand one of these "people".  If they were American citizens they would at least have someone you can talk to!
Internet. And I've never been more in love. Been together almost 9 years and have 3 children
also, he was already established and owned his own home when we met. He had been out of college for 2 years when a buddy suggested the internet. I was going through a divorce (he's 4 years older than me) and lived 5 states away from each other.
Some said I was insane, but now they envy our relationship and the life we've built together. God is good.
I've got a DX6490, 4 megapixel and absolutely love it. sm
It is so easy to use. Daughter is in the High School band, so we've taken a ton of pictures of the band kids over the past 2 years, always get compliments. So good that the band teacher just bought a Kodak for himself. Very easy to e-mail, print pictures. I have great action shots with mine. Just one tip, if you're planning on using the night-time feature, be sure to get a tripod. You really need to be steady for that. You will be very happy.
All the time, I love this place!

I LOVE that, I do it all the time and I get such a laugh...(nm)

I love IT. Give yourself some time and
use the marker keys. You'll need to just slow down a bit at first, but the reward is awesome. I went from 45ish% productivity gain to low 60s. You really need to give it a good month with so many new things - marker keys, moving eyes, etc. I truly believe it's worth the money in the end. So slow down just a bit, the reward will be more lines for you. Also, visit the productivity talk forum. You'll find many great tips to help with shortcuts and commands, and the people there are wonderful when it comes to answering questions.
I love getting up and working at that time.
It was the only time that I could actually concentrate and have quiet time in my  house.  I have a 3-year-old son and grandkids that lived with me a couple of months ago...it was hard to try to work while everyone was doing their daily thing.  So, I just started getting up and 4 a.m. was a good time.  I would stop around 8 and get my mom/son's breakfast ready and get them situated. After that I could go back to work until I was through, taking breaks in between.  I prefer the 4 a.m. thing...it works for me.  You will have to find what works for you and I am sure that you will.
I used to love scary movies but now I can't even consider watching them. Guess I've changes i

I've dated off this site (Love@AOL). The men are cruising for a hookup for sure.

You will burn out...in time... I know, I've been there

Did over 250 minutes (100 being mininum) of dictation in 7 hours with breaks...stayed at the grind while others workers too their time, chatted and barely got the required 100 minutes... I've learned to slow down and just be happy producing quality work instead of having to be the "top" because I've found you can't keep that pace up forever. I was young and needed the money and did what I had to do. Do it while you can.

I've been trying to figure that one out for some time now.
I changed companies, bought an expander, even tried Dragon Naturally Speaking. I give up.
I've suggested before that perhaps you all might come up with a day & time
that you could all meet up in chat every week. Why don't you all discuss it and let me know. I will make a post on what you decide.
I'm like this all of the time! And now that I've read this
and became aware of my chair position, I have to adjust again!  I think it's just one of those little MT quirks we all have.
Agree. LOVE Switch and use it all the time.

As I recall, ONLY after you've been there for a set length of time.
