you don't put your family at risk by taking in strangers. That's just plain foolish. There were over 3300 registered sex offenders in NO. Where are they now. In your community? Perhaps in your house? Good luck.
Maybe they will. Give it time. It takes time to set up links.

Give it time...
It just means your family is doing what it should - evolving and growing - plus more MEEEE time!
Give yourself some time.
I don't know if MT schools tell their students but it will take a couple years to get going with this. If you're researching, looking things up and using your spellchecker, you're doing everything right. You just need to give yourself some time to get it. Soon you'll retain more, look up less and get your line count up where you want it to be.

After 20+ years, I still have to do research. That's one thing about this profession, it changes daily. Sometimes it's very frustrating, but keep in mind the benefits of staying home and what you're not having to pay for and you might be less hard on yourself.
I love IT. Give yourself some time and
use the marker keys. You'll need to just slow down a bit at first, but the reward is awesome. I went from 45ish% productivity gain to low 60s. You really need to give it a good month with so many new things - marker keys, moving eyes, etc. I truly believe it's worth the money in the end. So slow down just a bit, the reward will be more lines for you. Also, visit the productivity talk forum. You'll find many great tips to help with shortcuts and commands, and the people there are wonderful when it comes to answering questions.

I will agree to that, but when I give my
opinion and people come back to me with their nasty comments I will do what I have been doing. When I make a post defending MQ, most people tell me to get a real thought, that I am naive, stupid, etc. I am not going to take that.
Yes, I agree. Don't give up! sm
Many places have their tests right online, and you can just take them.  If you do really well, they might give you a shot!  Keep sending your resume, taking tests, and FOLLOWING UP.  If you don't hear from someone you applied with in 10 days, send another NICE reminder letter and resume.  Make calls.  You can DO this!  And now you DO have 7 months of work under your belt, which is better than none.
I say you need to give it a shot full-time.
That's the only way you will get quicker and more accurate. You need experience. The more you do it, the easier it will come. Good luck.
Give them the benefit of the doubt the first time.

Thanks for the responses. I'll give it more time.

I agree, don't give them info....
The school system does not need your family's health history to educate your child. Put N/A unless it is related to education...It's none of their business.
Totally agree...don't give up!

It sounds like you are being bombarded all at once with everything and it's overwhelming you.  First of all, I wouldn't quit MTing but I would find another job.  This job seems to be way too stressful.  There is no way it should take you 8 hours to do 400 lines.  I do clinic work and do 400 lines in less than 2 hours.  Look for something else.  You don't need any additional stress right now, so find some transcription that would be easy and less stressful.

As far as family is concerned, they will never understand what you go through, NEVER EVER.  My sister-in-law does factory work and told me one day that I wasn't as tired as her after working all day.  That really fumed me.  I may not have to do the physical work that she does but that doesn't mean I'm not tired after working also.  When she said that it made me realize that no one would ever see my job as a real job.  It has just been within the past couple of years that my husband has realized even just a little bit what my job is like.

I've been an IC for 9 years and until recently have never had any time off.  I finally realized that my kids were growing up around me while I was working.  I had been grouchy and hateful to everyone around me, I've been close to divorce, and I have realized that it's not worth it.  I now do take time off sometimes, even if it's just for one day and since I have clinic work most of those times are when the offices are closed for holidays or such.  It seems as though things don't bother me as much now that I'm not stressed with working all the time and I'm not Oscar the Grouch any more.

I wish you luck and hope you can find a solution for you soon!

give it some time and distance for their grief to subside a bit

then when things are calmed down, I'd have your hubby mention that it was very important to your son & I think she'd probably give it back in a heart beat.  I agree with how valuable it is for your son, but he has the visual and heart felt memories he will cherish forever.

I lost a child 25 yrs ago, problems & issues that came up during that immediate time compounded issues with my little sister and it took 23 yrs and the death of our dad to finally put it all to rest and reunite and heal.  I can never get back those 23 yrs I wasted not having my lil sis in my life because of my stubborness, it's just not worth it.

I agree with you. Why would we give a discount for being paid what
we're legitimately owed? Some businesses do it to encourage prompt payment, though.

I agree with you. It takes time to get the

kind of help in there. They have one road open. Everything is flooded. There is no airport to land at. Gas is scarce. 90% of the gas that came from that area is no longer functioning. Cars are being stolen from places just to get out. Thugs are shooting at helicopters trying to evacuate critically ill patients. You've got groups of thugs shooting everything up and steeling anything and everything, but they don't realize mostly everything they take will have to be left behind.  Everyone wants help now but it takes time to put together a plan of these proportions. Nobody was prepared for this because they didn't think it would happen. You have people commandering vehicles with guns for their own use that are being brought in to help evacuate. The only boats you see are very small ones because the big ones can't come in and work. The water is not deep enough.

A lot of people stuck there are making the situation worse for everyone else because they are helping to put off rescues that can happen by shooting at vehicles, shooting at police officers, setting intentional fires just to get the police over to the fire so they don't come chase them for looting or terrorizing others. You have idiots walking around with AK-47s down Canal Street.

Shephard Smith described itbest the other day. Made me think too since I live in Fla. The day after a hurricane you hear chain saws going, you have people cleaning up, you get out there and assess the damage. They could not do that because for them in NO it was not over. The floods were getting worse and rising. There were no people assessing damage, no chain saws cutting down trees, no power trucks checking out downed power lines just because they couldn't get into the city. Everything is blocked. The closest city to them that has power is 90 miles away. That means no gas for them. Yes, they're bringing buses and stuff but it's very slow going. Trying to figure out how to do everything and coordinate everything w/o communication to others is very hard.

One of the guys in the news conferences said yesterday that he spent 18 months at ground zero. They are looking at being in NO much longer because that is much more damage than what he saw at ground zero.

I agree with MQLOVER this time!
I am at MQ too and we are to space once after a period. Maybe MQLOVER was right all along, we are looking at the wrong persom that is stirring up problems.
I totally agree. They certainly had time to

I agree...Time to be positive
No one is perfect, no company is perfect and everyone has frustrations. I try to teach my little girl to focus on how to make things better and we all should too. :)

I agree with old time MT -- best to fix it when you see it and not rely totally on spellcheck. sm

In my old QA days, I found too many errors that were obviously the cause of word Expander errors, things not caught by spellcheck, etc.  I doubt that it really slows you down that much.  I have been doing it that way for so long, it is just second nature and quick to go up and fix something real fast, than wait until the end and hope that spellcheck catches it.

Good luck!

I agree with the other posters that I found them to be a waste of time ...
I sent them a resume with over 20 years of acute care experience and they didn't even extend me the professional courtesy of acknowledging that they received it.

The archives yield posts by other MTs stating more disappointment with them after making contact than favorable results.

Agree and disagree -- there is a time and place for discretion -- but it should be with the approval

I used to do shift assignments many years ago ... first off, there are times when you have a newbie (or not so newbie)  who will literally take hours to do a few OP reports, when what you need  is TURNOVER, VOLUME, SPEED ..  in those cases, it may make sense for the overall picture to assign someone new (or ailing) some "easy" work to clear out a worktype ... Ditto, I don't have any problem with requesting (and having request granted) to do certain report types or this-not-that when there is a request for extra hours. If you've already put in your shifts doing luck-of-the-draw, spending extra hours doing the dregs feels like punishment ... and if you're doing an unfamiliar worktype on overtime or extra, your reports will  likely be a burden to QA ... net gain lessened.

There are all kinds of cherrypicking possible depending on the configuration of your job -- switching worktypes, switching accounts, taking a "break" are all ways to pass the exhausting and frustrating on to somebody else ... Oh, and no, I make myself NOT do that ... easy though it appears to be for most people to get away with it.

I once had a coworker (whom I liked) who explained that she HAD to cherrypick because otherwise she couldn't reach her line count within her 8 hour workday ...

I agree - doesn't sound like it's worth your time to fight her anymore. NM

Agree! I hate Daylight Savings Time. It takes me a good two weeks
to get myself and everybody in the household adjusted to the time change every six months. If the farmers need to get up earlier, let 'em! That doesn't mean I should have to, also! DST has definitely outlived its usefulness. I stay up later and get up earlier in the summer, but go to bed earlier and sleep later in the winter. It's like my mind and body are tied to the sun, not the clock. I never got an extra hour of sleep last night anyways because the neighbor's stupid dog barked from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.

i have been through some rough times lately and had to apply for some help. there are signs, big signs, all over our offices saying "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE LEGAL TO GET HELP". so we and our government do give them our benefits whether they are legal here or not. now that is messed up. i am helping to support them so they can take away my jobs and i can't even support my kids and yes i get benefits, wow $75 a month in food stamps which lasts not even a week in a household of 6. don't get me wrong, i am thankful for any help at the moment, but i get penalized for trying to work my tail off and still can't survive.

there was recently an article in our local newspaper where one of our local school districts tried to charge $1000 a year for each illegal student enrolled. it was bulked and the illegals got a lawyer to sue for discrimination. the school district merely stated that they had to HIRE extra teachers that could speak the foreign language just to teach these children and were trying to offset some of the expenses. ridicilous!! so again our taxpayers money is paying to educate illegals as well.
Aw come one give her a break. She said she was sorry and is willing to refund. Give her a chance to

do what is right.  If she fails to do what is right, then go about this in an adult way and not act like such a child.  "you suck"  That is so immature.

She is responding to you and you are eating her alive.  Why would she put herself out there to be treated like this if she didnt mean it.

I am really astonished at how people can act on here.  Would you treat people like this in person?  If you do, I cant imagine you having very many friends.

Remember we are all "HUMAN."

Agree, agree, agree! Just listen to Benny Hinn..

he speaks perfect English, especially when asking for money!  Also, in my opinion, blanks should be left in the doc's dictation if not able to be transcribed, maybe then they will know that are NOT understood.  With QA fixing them, what need is there for them to care if we understand them or not?

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.
I work part-time hours with full-time pay...
I made over 26,000 this year...
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.

I believe statutory just was not mentioned because there is nothing new about the definition of statutory.

The definition of full time is new.

There is a new classification called part time.

I believe statutory was not mentioned merely because that has not changed and they do not receive PTO/benefits.
