Be careful & check the fine print sm

There was a small note on the sidebar about it on my July 2008 bill and I didn't notice it until later ---

Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred and to deny, terminate, modify, or suspend service if usage exceeds 5GB per month in total or 300MB/month while off-network roaming. Check your subscriber agreement rights on Sprint.com.

Becky, email me and let me know what print it was and I'll send you out another one.

This is hilarious! I'll be very careful submitting

Be careful with pepper spray, you'll get your dogs too

and possibly yourself if the wind is blowing just right.  The stuff is extremely powerful and won't just bring down the offending animal.

I agree with calling animal control, as they are the "animal police" and the "people police" won't even bother.

The dog owner needs to be reported whether he was in his yard trying to get his dog back in or not.  Sure, maybe the dog "got loose," but he should have at least been decent enough to apologize.

I have one like that. He'll spell names like
Ann, Smith or Bob, but not Janczykowski, Myreshnikov or Filipowicz.  Of course, it's a big city so everyone named their kid some twisted spelling of a normal name.  It can't be Cindy, but Syndee.
Be very careful with regard to this company. nm.
nm.
Agree with Florida MT. Be careful
Those aching fingers, wrists and forearms are warning signs of repetative stress syndrome.  It's no joke when it becomes full blown. Try taking 10 or 15 minute breaks away from the keyboard every hour and give your hands, wrists and forearms a rest.
Look at the Company Board. Names given

Write it off. And be careful who you work for. I had the same problem with local company.
What's your time worth to take these people to small claims court? And what was pointed out to me after doing the research is even if you win in small claims court, there is no way to collect it. Since the company is a bad debt anyway, they aren't going to pay you because you win a small claims court judgement.
what are company names, is Inscribe one in Chicago?
nm
you can post company names on the board.

Thanks, MOMT!

To MOMT-to me *normal* does not exist

*normal* means one has a preconceived idea of what *sanity* is....

Everyone has got a story - there is not a family out there that does not have some kind of *story* - crosses all socioeconomic levels too......it's not just an urban blight thing - it has crossed all levels of society/cultures/religions et cetera......I don't need to tell any of you, I'm sure you are all seeing the changes from decade to decade just like the rest of us!  Sad world, indeed.

The Amish are the most peaceful.....they keep their doors unlocked.  THIS last thing was THE STRAW BREAKING THE CAMEL'S BACK in my mind!!!  Geesh....and a milkman no less.....an area where milk is still delivered to people's doorsteps (I grew up with that happening but haven't seen THAT in decades).  Terrible world, little optimism (what with all these *politics*), very sad, indeed.

Thanks, MOMT. I have been known to sometimes get caught up trying to make my point, but... SM
I didn't think I was being rude.  Thanks again, I was starting to take it a little personal, but some people are just sensitive, I guess.
You can print a list in the print dialog box. sm
You'll find the option in the print what section. You can probably find a macro that lists them all in a document with a web search. Otherwise, you can only print them.
I'll second that...wonderful company!!! nm

I'll bet it was the same small company that
nearly did me in as well. Do they come at you for compound modifiers?  Yikes! I felt the same way - just could not do anything right, decades of experience. I finally got thru the constant QA barrage, and now am glad I did. But I know the feeling. I left the job down the road, part time and just too many rules so that it messed up my other jobs!! I would get its the same small company - they have very high QA standards, which is great on one hand, but...I also knew that some of it was a tad ridiculous! I would be sick while working, and that is NOT good!
You'll have to ask the tech for the company, but I know
s
Do you have a specific company you'll be working for?
They should be able to give you specs.
I'll agree with that one

If over, say, 10 years you worked for three services ... how many times can you write, "transcribed pathology reports." ("we get the picture already").

Get (and hold onto) their attention right from the start. You can always list the companies and dates of employment later on.

Also, make sure you don't use white paper. That blands in too much with other people. You don't want to be "one of the crowd." You want to stand out. Make the paper soft gray if you're printing in black or soft beige if you're printing in brown.

Agree....sad. We'll soon be outnumbered. nm

I would agree with HP being good. I'll only
is better in this profession because most won't accept Vista anyhow.  The OP might want to try a secondhand computer store and then just purchase the Office Suite you'd like.  I did this and have good luck so far knock on wood with Office 2003.
My company doesn't offer health insurance. I'll buy it at Sam's Store.
BTW, you can eat yourself up and waste a lot of time hating and smearing Walmart. People support the store and it is growing in spite of your MT Stars posts. Walmart shoppers don't care about your posts or if Walmart doesn't offer health insurance to their employees. They are looking for a bargain. Walmart has them. At least half the US workers have lost health insurance and as for my company, it costs at least $200 a month for health insurance if I want to BUY it. Get a grip.
Agree, especially if you'll need them as a future reference. nm
s
I agree, fishy. If you're an IC you'll have to take out approx.
30% on top of the 25% they're going to keep, but will you have to claim earnings of it all, even their 25%. Hmmmm, I think I'd be asking a LOT of questions because why aren't they just saying you'll make 9.75 cents instead of 13 cents that you'll really NOT be making.
I'll agree. Have had the bait n switch happen to me several times. nm
s
I agree - if the company won't pay for this....sm

If you don't have another job right now, go ahead and work for them for 30 days while you are looking for a new job. The company should provide any software that you need. If they don't, then they are not a good company to work for.

You might post on the Company Board and see what kind of experience other MTs have had with this company.

I agree! I just refused a job with a company because
the tech didn't do what he was supposed to do for my computer to work with their software and then got extremely upset with me when I questioned him about it. He told me that if I had used their computer, these problems wouldn't have happened and it would have been so much easier and better for HIM! So much for support for the MTs. I guess we should all acquiesce to what is best for tech support and help to make their lives easier, not the other way around.
I agree with you to forget them, as one would think the company itself
would carry that insurance and cover their MTs. You are worth more than they seem to think and I would look for a company that sees your worth.
Agree. MTSO/DO out for company, MT just a

I totally agree. Best company I have
ever worked for. Have been working with them for over a year. Work when I want, excellent dictators/accounts, paychecks always good and have never been late even before I got direct deposit. None of the transcription is done out of USA. They do other things
When people use last names for first names.
You can't tell what sex the person is, and it just sounds so pretentious and stupid.

Hunter, Tyler, Taylor, Cameron, Morgan, Parker, Porter.

Really soap-operaish and annoying.
I agree 100% especially with reading as one types (I do also) and if a company sm

constantly have no woek or constantly runs out of work.  At least half of the MTs on MTstars need to follow this advice.  This would stop the majority of the whining on this board.

I agree with medical supply company .../sm
I just finished staying with my uncle during his last few months of lung cancer. The motorized lift action was a godsend the last few weeks when he had trouble standing up to get into his walker and move around. We were fortunate in that one of the relatives had a relative who had a relative... etc... anyway, we were able to get a used lift chair in good condition for a lot less, but even if you have to pay full price at medical supply store, it is definitely the way to go if your mom has mobility problems or you think she will in the near future.
I agree. I forgot to mention that my company
gives each doctor a test to see if they qualify for VR. I do not know what the criteris is to qualify, but I noticed that the ones who are heavy ESL do not do VR. So, I should modify my response above, in that some companies, at least mine for a fact I know, keeps the high ESL on straight typing. That makes sense, because the turn over in MT labor would be enormous. I guess what I would do is delete the VR content and type as fast as the wind on that heavy ESL at 40% less the rate of straight typing. That would be my solution, rather than sit there and correct.
Anyway, you are right about the bad dictators being off VR, and my company apparently recognized that already.
I totally agree.. Hey, I think I've applied to that company ..LOL

Agree! This company is great! Fast service. Big selection. Willing to help, too. nm
s
As far as company VR for critical care it is not very good and I agree with the other poster. I tend
to leave little words in or if I have to take a lot of words out an extra word gets stuck in. It is a mess. If you are speaking of your own person VR at home to help I know nothing about that. With companies at this stage of the game you will not increase your productivity as you think.
I totally agree, the company I work for is switching from IT to Shorthand :( yuck!

When I broke my ankle, I was just grateful it wasn't the hands. Without our hands we'd be totally screwed.

I broke my right ankle slipping on ice and was lucky to have gloves on because the palm of the glove was totally torn up and my hand was okay.

Good luck and be sure to do your exercises when it is time.
And do NOT print for them! this is why...sm

you need to just send the stuff back to their office. Again don't be driving around doing the delivery thing. Explain that HIPAA doesn't want you keeping the reports any longer than necessary to do billing, so after you bill, you need to delete the reports. They need to have them in their office, to archive and keep a back up copy in case the office floods and ruins their charts. When you send them back, they can change the little things that the doc dictated wrong themselves...they don't have to wait until you have your next delivery run. So let them mess with the dumb sticky paper...or better yet, do a cost analysis that shows it is just as good to stick it in the chart with tape than to buy that paper. That way, they will be impressed with your business acumen...

wow I need to print all of this
thanks so much - no I would never work if I was at DD boyfriend's on who knows what network.  I was just going to see if it worked.  If I am at house with cable internet it should be as secure as mine.  I don't think I would every try working at a Starbucks.  The place I vacation actually has high speed internet so I could connect directly to that.  Cell phone coverage is spotty there at best, so air card would probably be worthless.  Thanks again - I am beginning to understand what I was afraid I would never grasp.
I use ShortHand. I used to print out all of my
expansions and tape the pages all over my desk, but it didn't help.  What did help was finding out from someone here that ShortHand has a suggestion box that displays your expansions for you.  I remember the first letter or two, glance down quickly to see what the ending was, hit the corresponding function key, and bam! three keystrokes to faster transcribing.  Instant Text has a similar feature, but I couldn't switch over to it after learning on Shorthand.
how did you get your print to be so small?

if you are for real, your best advice is read this board and take good notes.

To print list
You can print a list of all of the "autotext" by opening word, FILE, PRINT (or ALT F, P) and in bottom Lft corner in the "Print What" section select "Autotext entries" and OK. If you have a lot this will print a lot mine would do about 150 pages.

BE AWARE - This will print everything. You can print just a list of the AUTOCORRECT entries but you have to creat a macro which is not hard. This too however will print all of the autocorrects, like when it automatically changes "adn" to "and". But, if you have to have this list you can just run through and delete the normal corrections and keep a list of your entries.

If you want to email me I will be more than happy to send you the instructions and the macro. It was simple to do, just a matter of making sure the macro info was in the right spot.
Save and print
I print and deliver, save on hard drive for one year and then on CD or zip forever it seems.  Finally went through and threw out files from 10 years ago.
Have a Dell 720 and the print is so
small, can hardly read. I have the zoom up to 500 on a particular page- the print on the computer huge but when it prints, back down to really small, anyone know what I can do to get regular print? TIA
