I got it this summer. I pgraded from a Dell laptop that was 7 years old. I upgraded the screen to a 19" flatscreen. I paid around $900 when all was said and done. I absolutely love it and do not regret it a bit. As far as the footpedal. I do not use a footpedal. I'm still new at this career but as a typist I find it easier to use the "F" keys when transcribing. I'm sure that you'll be able to hook your current footpedal up to the computer and Dell can help you if you need.

Dell Inspiron 530
Need information, please, on Dell Inspiron 530 with XP.  If you have this computer, are you happy with it?  Cons?   What kind of pedal will work with it if using Express Scribe.  Also, anyone that has the same computer with Vista....any problems with Express Scribe and/or a pedal.  Thanks.
I have a Dell Inspiron and there is a round

hole in the back just like they have on a desktop.  I think it is a PS2.   Mine has a picture of a mouse and keyboard underneath the hole.   The foot pedal depends on what kind it is.  I use a game port but don't have a game port so have to use an adaptor to convert it to a USB.  I have a serial port which is 9-pin and it is right side my keyboard connection.

I had a Dell Inspiron 5100 that I used for

about 4 years.  Now I have a Toshiba Satellite and I like it a hundred times more than my Dell.  The Dell I had was very heavy and ran extremely hot.  As a matter of fact, the running hot is the reason I got my new Toshiba.

I sit in my comfy recliner to work since I don't have to use a foot pedal.  I don't think I could continue being an MT if I couldn't elevate my legs.  At 60 years old the legs start to swell if I sit with them dangling very long at a time.

I've worked on a Dell Inspiron 8600 for 3 years
I've heard they're not as good as they used to be, but so far (knock on wood), I haven't had any problem except last week my AC power pack died. They mailed me a new one within 3-4 days (I was under 4 years parts warranty). I use a USB keyboard and mouse and don't bother to try to use the scrunched up laptop keyboard.
