I am so glad to hear you talk about VR in a good light

Posted By: VR here on 2009-06-26

I have a jewel of a platform and you can make a decent salary. It is not garbage and like you said, the people here complaining are ones who do not have a good system. You have to be fast in scanning and hearing. If you are a slow typist to begin with, I have no idea how this would play into a person who does really good with VR. I do not fit that category and the people I have know that did VR did not either.

Can anyone suggest a super light touch keyboard? That you can't hear the typing?
I am looking for one that you can't hear the typing.  TIA
I for one am glad I can come on here and talk about my problems with MQ. I have my resume out and

have talked to companies already. My problems have only started recently with MQ and I am not going to quit them before I get another job and I am not going to take just anything. I sit here alone in my room eons away from other MTs in MQ and it is nice to know we are in the same boat instead of you are the only one BS MQ would like us to believe. I am very happy that I have MT Stars to come to and talk about these problems. You have to remember MQ is huge and there are a lot of us so we will have more people on here than most companies and it seems MQ is just having no end lately to their problems and new programs. I hope you people that dont want to read these articles remember one thing and that is MQ has put us where we are today as well as you and that holds true for the future. They will pull you all down with us. They have already done that so by reading what we put on here may give you a hint where you will be heading at your company in the very near future.

can't talk, can't hear, and will not follow directions! NM

Hear people talk about VR issues

There is no way, none that a person's record could be any more compromised than with the dictators we have to put up with now days. They are unable to speak English to where you can make sense out of it. I get livid anytime I have to put up with this crap every weekend. We even have some PAs now who are non-English speaking. Where does this stop?

Glad to hear it's not just me!
Maybe we should start a support group for people like us :)
Glad to hear that it is not (SM)

a clot.  As I was reading your post and "pedal edema," it made me think of how my right ankle hurts at night from all the pedal pushing during the day!!  It is truly a case of pedal edema for us folks!!

Seriously though, I hope you get totally better.

So glad to hear you say that
I had answered a post because the poster said really hard to work from home and she did not know about, I guess, about taking things off on taxes such as part of the electricity, gas bills and I was just stating what I do and how I try to cut down on my bills so as to not overspend. I, like you, have never ever had anyone to think I have a bon-bon job at home. I think when you let people take advantage of you, they will. Expecting a phone call the other day that was important, caught it only to have a sales pitch. I told the person working, sorry and he said well I will only take a few minutes of your time. Then I said, no you won't- told you I was working and hung up. It sure is simple for me.
Glad to hear

I have a nurse practitioner friend who goes crazy with the transcription...account MUST be verbatim.  She was telling me that the MT will type

"and please send a copy to -------"     instead of doing a cc:

Personally I think it's crazy.  For me, I'd like to use my brain when I'm transcribing. Of course that is MHO.

Glad to hear
I'm not alone. Do any of you ever just trust that it must have been said and not re-listen?

Also because physicians often use abnormal sentences (leaving out little words, etc.), it makes it hard to know when proofing if I missed a word or if it was dictated that way. I like double check though, because sometimes I did leave a word out.
Glad (or sad) to hear that I am not the only one.
Maybe time to look for a place that does not use Escription.
Glad to hear it!
Back around the dawn of time when I started transcribing, it was DISC. Always, always, always. Then disk started coming into style, though it set my teeth on edge, especially the glaring "diskectomy" which I thought everyone KNEW was wrong.

So glad to hear disc is making a comeback!

I am glad to hear that...
Over the years as we have been warned about our jobs ending because of VR, I didn't lose any sleep over it.  I think VR is a good thing when it works - and it obviously must work in your case - my experience with it was not so good.  VR, to me, is an entirely different ballgame than being the second or third in line to edit reports that could as well be typed once by a skilled Transcriptionist in the US.
Glad to hear about your home...

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all

I'm glad to hear she is enjoying
her life!
glad to hear you made it through
Some of us who work for that ___ company might be experiencing some stress and some of the same symptoms in the near future. Its so important to keep yourself healthy with "yunguns" you're responsible for.. God bless you
Hey Jodie, glad to hear all is well.
You're still in my thoughts and prayers.  Keep strong and don't let the trolls get to you.  There are still those of us here who care about your situation even though we don't really know you.
Glad to hear you testify!!!
Now if we could only do something about it...........
Glad to hear you are leaving MQ

Honestly, I don't know how you put up with that for 10 years.

I was hired there 5 years ago at 8 cents/line and that was fresh out of school.  They even bumped me up to 8.5 shortly before I ended up quitting.  They have been screwing you over bad.

Thanks for the updates, glad to hear things
are going well for you. Go to church together, even if you split. Life can get better. God bless!
Glad to hear you have found your "nitch", and
It is so nice to have a place to go where there are others who can understand where you are coming from.  Good luck on your new job!
Along these lines, I have another experience you will all be glad to hear...sm
I personally know of a large company that had always maintained they would not outsource but then felt forced to give it a try. It lasted one month, and they quit doing it because of the extremely poor quality of work being returned to them. You must understand that this is a company that is really needing people, as most of the larger ones are, and even in their highly motivated frame of mind to do something to fill their need for help they made the decision in one month that outsourching was not going to work. This should serve as a good reminder to all of us of the importance of exerting ourselves in terms of achieving and maintaining high accuracy. Being thoroughly familiar with the rules regarding grammar and punctuation in addition to the medical content we need to be familiar with may be a "gag-me" experience for some, but it's important that we stay on top of it. It's what separates those who do this work from those who wish they could.
Marry me?! :) Seriously...hear, hear. Good post. - nm

I am glad I waited to hear results on this before buying. sm
I need something that gives truly better syllable discrimination, and most head phones are geared for listening to music, not voice. I still have not found anything better than stethoscope earphones for that purpose.

Glad to hear that my adult knitting friends and I are "trashy."

Whew! Glad to hear it! Spoil yourself tonight, okay! :-) no message

I wear cheapie ear buds from Target, any brand, usually Koss. Comfy, light, good sound, cheap. nm

Well, there isn't any good to talk about.
If you'll go to the company board and go through the archives you can read the posts, but basically they suck big time.  Sound quality lousy, dictators lousy, management lousy, hard to get lines ......
When you talk about good
pay, what exactly do you consider good pay?
I thought better of you, Bus. Not good to talk
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Glad you had a good time
Glad you thought the suggestions were helpful. :) I know some people probably think we are crazy but unless you are an avid camper you might not realize how much time can be spent just getting ready! Every little time saver you can find makes the trip all the more pleasurable when you don't end up exhausted just getting ready to go. :D
Good for you! Glad you said your husband! That was really nice!

that is so so good to hear
praise God from who all blessings flow...
That's good to hear
This is the first thing my doctor wants me to try.
Good to hear it can be done
I am not skeptical, I am encouraged to know that that much money can be made in this field and am glad you were willing to share it. I'm a fairly new MT (just hit 3 years) and average about $20 an hour as an employee working full time, plus benefits. I feel like I'm doing fairly well, but would like to make more and sometimes get discouraged when I read posts on this board about people with umpteen years of experience making $12 an hour. I know that in many ways this is a tough field, but there are people who do quite well at it, despite all the negative talk.
That is good to hear - sm
I have the same issue. Been using Smartype since it came out for Word (used it in DOS and loved it), but recently bought IT but have not even had time to put it on my computer yet, have it here on my desk for almost a month now, need to get it loaded on my computer and bite the bullet. I have heard to kind of wean yourself into it, and as I have a mountain of work this weekend I guess it will have to wait once again, until Monday, regardless if I have gotten all this work done or not. Thanks for the head's up, gives me some hope!
Glad you had a good time. We just hung around the house.

So sorry to hear this - good luck to you

SOOO good to hear from you --sm
So many people on this board expressed concern for you well being, I was surprised. But I am VERY glad that you did so well and accomplished what you meant to accomplish. I applaud your efforts and wish you the best of luck. I am a bit concerned about the doctor situation though. No doctor should have such control over someone's physical care as to put pressure on someone who works with them. That is not ethical! I understand your concerns about your husband's position and I am not suggesting that you do anything drastic, but it sounds like someone is holding a weapon over your husband's head to make you continue you care with them. You have a right to choose your own doctor and not suffer any consequences. This is still the USA, not matter what her problems, and you still have the freedom of choice. Please continue on your present course of action and only do what you feel comfortable doing, but please keep in mind also that no doctor should FORCE you to take care from them. Please also continue to come here to talk about things. There are some very supportive people on this board, and use them when you need to. All best wishes to you!! You should be so very proud! and bless your husband for being so understanding too!
I hear CareerStep is good
I hear CareerStep is good, online, and they offer placement with companies guaranteed if you make 90 or better on your final.

I was blessed enough to get to train with a friend, work under her for 4 years, then went off on my own, but these days, school is an absolute must. Best of luck to both ladies.
Glad I was able to help....I just keep thinking about my inspiration (friend from gym). Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for the kind responses. I'm glad I posted. I have gotten some good leads.
And some good advice. Feeling better already!!

That's good to hear. Maybe I should give it a chance and see if I like it.

Good luck to you! So sorry to hear about your pain.

It is great to hear good news!

Good for you!! It is so nice to hear a positive post.

I do not suppose you would care to share your new company?

A good lesson is, if you hear something strange, ..sm
Verify, verify, verify. I have been guilty of not doing that many times. Not to worry. I probably could have said it in a kinder manner. Sorry!
I hear that every day from my account. Awesome feeling isn't it. Good for you
I hope you realize your hard work is appreciated after all!

Wonderful! So nice to hear good things like this!
