This man is still terribly depressed, and it sounds like it's affected his hygiene, his energy level, everything. Have you talked with his prescribing physician? Is this lack of help a NEW thing? I have a family member like this, won't comb his (long) hair or pick up after himself or clean or leave the house. And it's all DEPRESSION. He was suicidal for about 3 years, and is still not out of the woods. Even tho you say his condition is controlled with meds, the medications themselves can do this to him, as well as the depression. Try the counseling, it will keep you more sane, and be aware that the depression is probably what's looking you in the eye daily. And it MIGHT need to be changed, updated or doseage-titrated. Mental health issues are a huge family problem, so even if HE stops going, you KEEP going to that counseling. And ask the hard questions when you are there.
