what version of Word do you have? Here's a link for Word 2002 -sm
This looks like a long and drawn out thing to do, but it's not that hard really.

When I did it, I checked and found that I had the support template already in the folder, so I was able to skip down to "Back up your AutoCorrect entries on source computer." It's named support.dot and is found here:

C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10Macros

Just following the instructions closely, it was really easy.

If you don't have Word 2002, I think there are other methods avaialable.

Here's the link:

Can you transfer them from Word 2002 to Word 2003?
I was able to transfer mine from one computer to another when I had Word 2002 on both of them.  Now I have a new computer with Word 2003, and have not been able to do it.  The autocorrect has a different file name.
Word 2007, Word 2002, or 2003
How many transcriptionists have switched to these versions of Word?  I am still using Word 2000, and it works well for me, but have been offered job with a company that uses Word 2007, and another company that will let you use Word 2002 or 2003.  I am fighting this and am at the point where I just might not accept a new job because of this change.  I can't imagine why they would want to change from Word 2000.  Your opinions, please.  Thank you.

Its the cheap keyboards. I bought Logitech G15 gamer's, heavy, sits in one place, so I don't have to move all the time. It was $79 and really much better than those little things that you spend your time with your hands trying to keep in place and your body trying to compensate for the keyboard moving all over the place-- Try it, you'll like it-- or any other HEAVY, GAMER's keyboards. Plus I love the touch on this, much more like touch-typing than monitoring those itty bitty light-weight keyboards that I used to have to watch where I was all the time (fingers) because they moved all the time. Hope this helps!
Word 2002
Try E-Bay--that's where I got mine.
Word 2002
I ordered an OEM version of MS Works Suite 2004 from an online discount software distributor, and it came with it. I had MS Word 2000 that was corrupted. I do not remember the name of the distributor, but I think it started with a V. I think I typed in "discount software" or "cheap software" and that came up. Word 2002 also comes in Works Suite 2005, as that was on a new computer I bought.
Word 2002 help
I have a problem that's driving me crazy.  When typing in Word, it will automatically capitalize the beginning of a new sentence, EXCEPT when the prior sentence ends in a number.  Does anyone know how to change this so that it will capitalize a new sentence following a number?  TIA
Help with my Word 2002

I do not know what I did, but everytime I type b.i.d., my word automatically capitalizes the I so it looks like b.I.d.  It is such a pain because I have to go back and fix it.  does any know what I did to change this?  and how can I fix it?  thanks.

Where can I get Microsoft Word 2002? sm

Is there a place on-line where I can purchase it and download it?  If not, where can I get a good deal on it?  I need it ASAP!

Thanks

Control + B bolds for me in Word 2002

Sorry about that, I am using Word 2002! Thanks for the info about the key assigments. sm
I did try searching for help in the office assistant and didn't really get much help. It always seems that there are other people out there who are sooo incredibly proficient at Word that it amazes me. I have only been using Word for about 6 to 7 months now, after using WP5.1 for about 4 years. Thanks
Word 2002 versus 2003
I use 2003, is there a huge difference?  Is 2002 more user friendly or is that just the one you are required to have?
Word 2003 or 2000 or 2002?
Hi y'all. I have to change from WOrd 97 to Word 2003 or 2000 or 2002?

Do y'all have a FAVORITE, and can you tell me WHY? Just a short email would do it and would be so appreciated here.

Thanks everyone for input. I really appreciate it. I'm using XP Media Center 2005 and it has 2003 on it that I can buy. My main thing was that with it I could not do like 5mg and have the space between the drug dose automatically come in from my expander. But, as soon as I get the new version of Word, I'm getting Instant Text and maybe that will help. I need to upgrade so I can purchase the IT and Steadman's, and Steadman's needs a newer version. Also, I'd like to get some newer features than 97, hopefully one of the newer versions will be more conducive to production?

Thanks to all who reply. You can email me or post. Thanks much.
I'm using Word 2002 with Vista with no problems. nm

You'd be limiting yourself. It only works in MS Word 2000 & 2002.
Lots of people have had problems getting Smartype to work in Word 2003 and you can forget 2007. It doesn't work in different platforms either. You'd be much better off looking at ShortHand or Instant Text.
No, the Works Suite 2003 and 2005 have Word 2002.

My Word 2002 shows plus or minus symbols in outline view.
Are you sure you're in outline view?
need a cheap word expander

hoping to find a decent one at a reasonable price.  Please post if you have one for sale or have a good web site.

Thanks!

Cheap Word Expander
I have Instatype and I have never used it - brand new but have had the program for a couple of years. If you will pay postage I don't think you will find one any cheaper.
Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
I bought Word 2000 for $30
at softwareoutlet.com. It was CD only, what they call OEM.

Personally, I don't care what bells and whistles the newer versions may have, I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for a word processing program.
If you only bought 1 stedman's word book, what would it be?

Just got a new job (!) and want to take advantage of discount books from my old job (!).  Don't know what specialties I'll be working on, general acute care AFAIK.  The only book I've ever owned is Dorland's dictionary.  I'm leaning towards Medical and Surgical Equipment.... but would be really happy if anyone has any ideas for me, thanks!

And I may just Go Wild and buy two.

I recently bought word 2003. I don't
remember the site, but you can Google it and it will come up. I bought Microsoft Works with 2003, and I think it was only about $39. Yes, you will need earphones unless you just want to listen to the dictation through the speakers. Some tests you can use a pedal, the others if you don't have the correct pedal you just have to use the "function" keys for play, rewind, etc. You will definitely need reference books or an online reference you can use easily. They are very picky. The higher the quality of the test results you produce, the higher likelihood of being hired. If it is incorrect or sloppy, they will not even look at you for a position.
I bought a wedge at Michael's for about 59 cents. Bought one for my SM
Lanier station so I could see the display and one for my keyboard.
Just two since 2002.

I'm a "cling-on" from a local small MTSO that bought out by a national, and now I work for that national.

Year 2002
I must be feeling cranky today.  Why do doctors think they have to say the patient had a procedure in year 2002, like the reader wouldn't know a year is meant unless 2002 is prefaced by the word year?  We are more than half way through the decade.  By now everyone is comfortable with year numbers starting with 2000 instead of 1900.  Drives me nuts!
Have been using it since 2002 without problem. nm

Synopsis

In 1970s Chicago, two boys bridge the sectarian divide between the Jewish and Irish-Catholic faiths and forge a friendship. When the Jewish boy discovers he is dying, his Christian friend vows to assist him in his quest to go to heaven, with predictable reactions from their families. This film is the result of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's Project Greenlight and was well received at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.

About the BOS-2, we are talking about the 2002 edition?

started at about 8K PT 2002, last couple years 12K but
I did not work much in 2005 for about 6 months when my 5-y/o got diagnosed with cancer and going through chemo, etc. So I would have made a bit more. I expect to do about $16K this year. I alternate my hours a lot though, about 60 or so minutes of work during the school year a day, but then only 30 during the summer, plus a side job that fluctuates ($300-500 a month). I am shooting for $20K next year, still not at FT (5-6 hours a day). I'll see how it goes. I think $12K for PT is good, but that is my opinion.
Love my 2002 Red Jeep Liberty (sm)
It is my favorite vehicle so far. My dad also works at a Dodge/Chrysler dealership so that is the way to go! He also drives a Dodge Intrepid and Durango. Check out the following link on a funny tidbit about Dodge--I hope you can pull it up.

No, you are not being cheap.
I spend what I can afford. No more, no less.
They got her cheap
Quality is on the downswing and hiring cheap people is up but that's ridiculous.
Yes, cheap. NM

that is cheap
I have done seminars and meetings and still charge by the line and have made about $100 per 60 minute tape.
Its because they are too cheap

to upgrade to the latest technology.  I remember using DOS forever and WP 5.1 forever because the MTSOs were too cheap to invest any money in state of the art technology.

There are services that use Vista, but harder to find.

Cheap docs

They absolutely don't care about quality or any of that jazz, which is why I have always wondered why we as an industry keep beating each other up over issues that doctors couldn't care less about. Not that I think we should all just transcribe any old way we want, but it seems like we act like the slaves out in the mud pit slapping each other around about how much or how little straw to use for the bricks while the slavedriver sits on the side line with the whip completely content with end product either way.

I suppose the answer most would give is that we should take pride in the quality of our work whether they (the doctors) do or not, but I can't get passed the notion that these are the same individuals that the powers that be seem so intent on pleasing and are also the same individuals who would see us all in the soup lines tomorrow looking for the next homeless shelter to sleep in if they had their way. They (the medical profession) will not think twice about putting all transcriptionists out of business at their first opportunity, and yet we as an industry continue to bow to their ridiculous and uninformed demands concerning how to do what we do or their complaints about how much we charge or that we shouldn't charge for line count generated by short forms or macros, etc. They have no clue how many times their butts get saved by transcriptionists on a daily basis.

I've never met a transcriptionist who wouldn't readily agree with the notion that we are part of the health care team, and yet many of us continue to act like we still work for the doctors instead of the patient. Oh well, go figure.

Just venting as well.

Cheap doctors
I remember one specialist many years back who complained when the hospital I worked for put in a new dictation system which required pushing the buttons on the phone to put in patient ID, etc.  He came to the department in person, ranting and raving because "now he would have to pay to have a push button phone installed" in his office.  This same doc came in the department on a Sunday afternoon and was using the hospital department copy machine to copy EACH AND EVERY PAGE his JAMA because he had DROPPED IT IN HIS POOL at home.  Can you say, "cheep, cheep, cheep"????
No, its cheap labor.

That's cheap.....electrolysis......sm

the plastic surgeon charges $400 per session no matter what part of the body, mine was the chin and one brown spot, oh and in between the eyebrows (which the dr who didn't own the practice charged me HALF that).  That doctor is more experienced in laser than the doctor who owns the practice (who wouldn't have charged me at all *lol*).

Someday when I am rich (hey, I can dream, now can't I???  *LOL*) I will go back and have the chin done over and over again *lol*

The reason they are so cheap
I think it's a bit of hyprocrisy on MLSs who are so anti-offshoring but love their computers from a company that offshores a lot of its jobs and there are plans to do even more.
Onesuite.com cheap, not
unlimited but very cheap, under 3 cents a minute.  Lots bells and whistles.  It's for regular phone not internet.
Cheap tickets.com
I got two round trip tickets for less than 500 on cheap tickets.com
Talk is cheap and I don't believe it
I have a feeling you make a lot of sloppy errors and that's why you are hostile to QA who is in the same boat as you struggling to make pennies for each line. Grow up and go to charm school.
Maybe it's a new, CHEAP way to lower their
Could happen..........
is this doctor cheap or what?

I know someone who has an account that she's had for about 3+ years.  This practice recently went through some changes; one of the main partners retired, they hired another one or two new docs, and now the other partner who was left behind has slashed costs every which way, even to the point of not purchasing letterhead anymore.  They expect their MT to now print their letterhead (oh, and she has to buy the paper now too!!!), and she is consequently using a lot more ink than normal.  She was already printing their letters and not charging them for the ink (on their letterhead that they furnished), but now she has to use their letterhead template on plain white paper, which is going through ink like crazy, not to mention the now added cost of paper on top of that.  How rude is this?  Do you believe it?  I told her she needs to speak up.  She is pretty angry about it, but she is so afraid to say something for fear they'll get rid of her too!  And, in all the years she's been doing their dictation she has not gone up on the price, not one penny.  Any advice out there?

To those with cheap headsets

Just wondering if any of you have tried the "quality" sets?  I only ask because if you have not compared, you might not know what you are missing.

I keep bugging you all because it seems when I make investments that are supposed to help, it is about a 50/50 success.  Some help; some were not worth the money.

I need to get faster.  I am okay with certain accounts, but others slow me way down, so I need to make every improvement I can to make the slow accounts a moot point (at least).

Thanks again for all the help!

what spell check do u use? Looking for something cheap... sm
Just starting out and need a spell check program that will do drug names also. I am looking for something that will cover the basics for now and then when I get some pay checks under my belt I can get one of the big ones like spellex. My current employer states there are literally hundreds of medical spell checkers on the market and I should be able to find one that covers some drug names also...does anyone have any ideas or can name a few?? thanks
