middle managers/acct managers
Most of the time they have no control over what is going on either. They are employees just like the MTs who do what the upper crust tells them to do. They have no control, none of us do....
Any good ideas where to look. Job Bank and Resume bank not working.
I think they must be waiting for a tech for repairs.
Another example of how managers

This is part of an e-mail from a QA Manager, for crying out loud!

Please note that when you get feedback from a QA specialist, they go by these guild lines if the account allows and it is of the utmost importance to take note and change transcriptoin style if it does not reflect these guidelines.

Managers are just that - managers
they make schedules, they place people on accounts, and manage workflow. You really don't need to be an MT to do that. I myself would never want that responsibility of handling all the disgruntlement, complaints, sick days, time off, blah, blah, blah. Of late, I notice more companies are going to the concept of having a team lead who also types, handles the schedules, does evaluations, etc. everything that a manager would do. I personally like this arrangement better because they know where you're coming from because they're right there with you. Teamwork really does work best, makes people more productive and is less intimidating.
I'd be right in the managers office. That's just not right.
l
Amphion managers
. . . and if you know the salaries those women make to hound you about line counts, you would flip!
To MTSOs or QA Managers
I recently took over QA for a small company just purchased.  Previously there had been essentially no QA rules.   If any of you could send me examples of how your QA is set up, the percentages you deduct for errors - common, critical, etc., it would be most appreciated.  Any rewards given for high QA or deductions would be appreciated as well.
Most have office managers.
They are the ones who deal with hiring people and services like transcription. Most times the doctor has no idea, and don't want to know. That's why they hire the managers!
So I am the one doing the labor and get 8 cpl. Frank and all the managers
need a little something-something for all their "hard" work.  We MTs are so
Of course you second this. That's what MQ managers do. Doesn't make it right

or relevant.  Keep putting out those fires of MQ discontent, or at least until the big guns with the lawsuits put out MQ for good.

What a crummy job you have to defend big business against the little guys who are just trying to make a living.  Kinda have to sell your soul doncha?

DQS only does what it is told to do by the account managers -
Whichever company you work for can set up DQS to count lines any way it wants to. Hence, if your line count seems incorrect it has nothing to do with the DQS program itself, but with how the company you work for manipulates how various Keystrokes or lines are counted. The same olds true for how many jobs you pull at one time. Both of these features are able to be manipulated by actual people.
You misunderstand. I'm overhearing the managers
talking about other employees, and I've told them I can hear them when they do it. So you want me to "get over it" that they talk about other employees in front of me? Am I supposed to get over the facet one of them left a copy of all the employees' pay rates on the printer for hours? What if your info were being leaked around an office where you worked? Would you get over it?

I found a new job, and I'm helping some of the other employees find new ones, too. Seems more logical and helpful than "getting over it."
More like 90% are completely inept managers.
I have one currently who is good but the rest have been the pits, pits, pits.  And they're getting worse.
Beef about account managers
I'll say right off which company I'm talking about, it's DTS out of TN.  I'm not mad, just at the point of head banging.  I'd really like to know what it is that some account managers do and where they get them. I transcribe on several accounts and without fail, not one of them seems to know anything about the account.  One particular one, "GK", I'll email with a question and IF she answers back, it will be somebody else's question, an "I don't know" or "where did you read that" (well DUH I read it in the account instructions).  You get doctor lists that came out before modern medicine was invented and after requesting new ones 10-20 times, you just give up (some you can't get online).  Then you get emails if you leave a blank for a doctor or feedback from QA that they can't find them either.  Two accounts are GONE just this month, wonder if this has anything to do with it?
K-Mart managers...Good money! Yes!
You have GOT to be kidding. I don't know about TODAY'S wages, but K-Mart, (or Safeway or Target, etc)managers USED to make GREAT money!! Yes, they DO prefer a 4-year business degree. These are/were not low paying jobs. Minus the business degree, one would have to play "work up" and it could take 20+ years to get up that high. The pay was about 4-6 times higher than a beginning school teacher last I knew.
Because owners, managers, and CEOs are all trying to cut costs
so they can make as much moolah as possible.  EVERY OTHER JOB I have ever had provided on the job training, EVEN the salaried professional white collar positions.  Going to school or college does NOT train a person to automatically step into a position knowing everything.  Nurses, doctors, lawyers, managers, HR directors, personal bankers, vice presidents, all of them had apprenticeships, internships, training, or worked their way up.  MT is the only field I know of where nobody is willing to train or mentor newbies.  The training at my last MT job consisted of an emailed two-page explanation of how to pull up their jobs.  That's it.  No account specs, nothing.  Go live on day one.
Real Life 'Dilbert-type' Managers

"My boss spent the entire weekend retyping a 25-page proposal that only needed corrections. She claims the disk I gave her was damaged and she couldn't edit it. The disk I gave her was write-protected." (CIO of Dell Computers)

Quote from the Boss: "Teamwork is a lot of people doing what I say." (Marketing executive, Citrix Corporation)

My sister passed away and her funeral was scheduled for Monday. When I told my Boss, he said she died on purpose so that I would have to miss work on the busiest day of the year. He then asked if we could change her burial to Friday. He said, "That would be better for me." (Shipping executive, FTD Florists)

"We know that communication is a problem, but the company is not going to discuss it with the employees." (Switching supervisor, AT&T Long Lines Division)

We recently received a memo from senior management saying: "This is to inform you that a memo will be issued today regarding the memo mentioned above." (Microsoft, Legal Affairs Division)

One day my Boss asked me to submit a status report to him concerning a project I was working on. I asked him if tomorrow would be soon enough. He said, "If I wanted it tomorrow, I would have waited until tomorrow to ask for it!" (New business manager, Hallmark Greeting Cards.)

As director of communications, I was asked to prepare a memo reviewing our company's training programs and materials. In the body of the memo in one of the sentences I mentioned the "pedagogical approach" used by one of the training manuals. The day after I routed the memo to the executive committee, I was called into the HR director's office, and told that the executive vice president wanted me out of the building by lunch. When I asked why, I was told that she wouldn't stand for perverts (pedophiles?) working in her company. Finally, he showed me her copy of the memo, with her demand that I be fired and the word "pedagogical" circled in red. The HR manager was fairly reasonable, and once he looked the word up in his dictionary and made a copy of the definition to send back to her, he told me not to worry. He would take care of it. Two days later, a memo to the entire staff came out directing us that no words which could not be found in the local Sunday newspaper could be used in company memos. A month later, I resigned. In accordance with company policy, I created my resignation memo by pasting words together from the Sunday paper. (Taco Bell Corporation)

"As of tomorrow, employees will only be able to access the building using individual security cards. Pictures will be taken next Wednesday and employees will receive their cards in two weeks."
(This was the winning quote from Fred Dales at Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, WA.)

"What I need is an exact list of specific unknown problems we might encounter."
(Lykes Lines Shipping)

"E-mail is not to be used to pass on information or data. It should be used only for company business."
(Accounting manager, Electric Boat Company)

"This project is so important, we can't let things that are more important interfere with it."
(Advertising/Marketing manager, United Parcel Service)

"Doing it right is no excuse for not meeting the schedule."
(Plant manager, Delco Corporation)

"No one will believe you solved this problem in one day! We've been working on it for months. Now, go act busy for a few weeks and I'll let you know when it's time to tell them."
R&D supervisor, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing/3M Corp.)

outsource overseas...and QA and managers "above" MT, period. It was parallel to the old EdiX
too bad, because they used to be awesome, then lost of lot of people skills and adopted the edix mentality...

I hold no grudges, just giving you my own opinion, my own experience. I moved on and am in a better place...
Wow what bank
did your son use?

I recently had my debit card number stolen when I was visiting in Toronto. My bank's fraud department called me within a day of the fraudulent charges. They had already denied 2 of them, and the one that did go through I was refunded every dime of. I guess I have a pretty good bank! (Wells Fargo).

The cop that I talked to when I filed a report said that they have one guy who does nothing but take the fraud calls every day, that is how many there are now. One poor little old lady had her entire account cleaned out, and on top of that the people somehow managed to SELL her HOUSE out from under her. I don't know exactly how they did that but she was not able to get it back, she was pretty much SOL. I guess it makes good sense to check to see how your bank deals with fraud and what the policy is on giving you back your money.

Also his advice was to get a shredder, and the kind that shreds both ways, and he told me that he even blocked out his address on his car registration. He says he never has anything in his car that has any personal info like that on it. I thought that was interesting and did not even know that was okay to do. But I guess if a cop is doing it it must be!
just called the bank and

Sure it is SS that is late and not your bank? They have to
build deposit files and it may be the banking system having problems.

Just trying to help.
Since your a former bank manager- how can I get
my credit score up?  My husband and I want to buy a house with no down payment and the lender said that we need to get our credit score up 18 points to do this.  How?  He mentioned paying our credit cards down to almost a zero balance.  What else can we do?  And how fast could we do it?
Resume Bank.

Hey former bank manager, what
does the "came way" mean?  Is that a banking term?
Smile all the way to the bank!
nm
I would. My son got his job at the bank he believes by
hope it didn't get cut off.
If you bank with Wachovia they have/are

sending 400 call center jobs to India, which also means they have access to your financial information.  I use a local credit union, but have a home equity loan with Wachovia and with that they gave us, checking, savings, credit, debit accounts.  I have closed all but the home equity account so far and told them why.  I'm currently in the process of shopping rates to open a new home equity loan too.

No telling how many more banks/credit card companies are doing the same.

Talk to your bank
With DD, your bank statement is proof that the company paid you or not. With checks or prepaid credit cards, if it's lost in the mail YOU have no proof it wasn't sent. If it gets screwed up in adding it to the card, YOU have no proof the MTSO is at fault and you have to fight with Visa.

The MTSO is correct in refusing to tell you which other MTs get Visa--they have a right to privacy.

The main problem I can see with Visa is that it's just inappropriate. You'll be forced to spend every penny you earn AND spend it at an establishment that takes Visa. How do you plan on saving? How do you plan to pay your insurance and other expenses? What if your children need $10 for school?

You also may be subjected to fees and/or expiration of the funds on the card.

Why don't you talk to your bank about the safety of direct deposit? Perhaps if they can calm any unfounded fears you have, you can be paid in a more appropriate manner.

Bank jobs
I have a good friend who is a bank branch manager.  Tellers, etc. are entry level.  She just hired my hairdresser!!!!  Don't know about where you live but I think most bank jobs are entry level in the smaller banks at least.
I agree w/you, bank manager...
God is not a vindictive (sp?) God, He is a kind and loving God.  This hurricane is simply nature, and nothing more, I'm sure...Would you bring your wrath down so hard on your own children for something they did that was wrong? Well, that's how God feels about us...His children, everyone of us. Even those who fight so hard to have Him removed from our lives...we are extremely blessed that God is so wonderful!
Put it in the bank. 100 years of interest. Just think!

Give me a break!

I needed a good laugh, thanks for posting.  Trust me, I'm only laughing at the sheer stupidity of issuing a check for one cent. You can't even rebel and send it back to them because you'd be out 36 cents.

Maybe you should frame it and label it, "My Big Bonus."

because the person used to be a bank manager
nm
Take the money from your own bank account
I agree..The things *she* donates are from manufacturers that get a plug on her show or from the people who watch her show and donate to her Angel Network. Even when she donated cars, the people who got them had to pay the tax and registration on the cars, which came to a few thousand dollars each.  These people could not even afford to buy new cars and they are gonna come up with a few thousand for taxes, etc.?  Oprah is out of touch with the real world.  I think Stedman Graham said it best on one of her shows, he told Oprah she was not nice.  She seemed shocked and asked well, who is nice and he said Gayle King, her best friend.  Oprah is pompous and acts like she thinks she is smarter and better than others..She isnt in my book.  Come on, Oprah, how much of your billions are you gonna spend in your life time?  Dont take the money from the public who watch your show..take it from your own bank account.
If you make enough of a fuss at your bank they
can, and will, release the funds back to you immediately. We bank at Commerce, and have had so many flubs with our debit card that we have 2 separate accounts - one just for the debit card with a limited balance in case it ever gets hit. But we have had lots of errors - ebay once hit the card for one of those burps at 1 cent for about a zillion times - other errors just like above, and I was told, too, that it had to take 3 days to release the hold. When I flipped out over it, it got released immediately. After all, it is our bank and we are the customer, right? Stick to your guns and you'll get your $$ instantly, if a mistake has been made that is verifiable.
Go to your bank or credit union and they can help
you set it up.   What you claim depends on how you setup the account.  You can claim $$ this year provided it is paid in by 4/15 and get taxed when you take out, or you can put in after taxes and not get taxed when taking out.
I did, actually I got two jobs through the resume bank.
I went to work for a small independent company and was there for 2 years and then got a job with a national 3 months ago.  Both places had contacted me from my resume being on this site.
It all depends on when your bank actually posts *sm*
it to your account.
If a person at your bank has to manually process it then it may vary, But they usually have a certain time it has to be done by.

What we were told when I worked in a bank - sm
Sometimes it depends on the time the tapes get loaded, sometimes there is a system glitch, sometimes there is tons to post on a particular day, so for all those reasons and more it can vary.  People used to call all the time and ask if on their payday if they were waiting at the ATM at 12:01 would the money be there.  I useds to tell them not to count on it!  The bank actually has until, I believe, around 10 a.m. on payday to post them, but I have seen some postings later than that.
Oh yeah, I am Bwahaha'ing all the way to the bank (nm)
x
we took an IC's check that worked for my DH to our bank and cashed it for them. sm
the check was returned and they came after us for the money of which we paid, plus the penalty to pick up the check and this was not even our check. we took it to the DA and after over a year, they sent the check back to us and told us it was a stolen check and they were not able to collect on it. our loss, $425.
Quick question for x-bank manager

Is it true what I was told about NOT closing out 0 balance credit card accts?  I never have closed one, just never use them and I have excellent credit, but in general, am I doing the right thing by not closing out?  I get 0 interest cards, typically good for 1 1/2 years and when comes time to be charged interest, I transfer balance to no interest card, do not close acct and have been doing this for years.  I usually do not carry a large balance and have paid outstanding balance to 0 on several occasions.  Thanks for your imput.

in your bank account by direct deposit OR

just showing up in ipay?  Mine says assistance with verification available at ________ . . . . THIS IS NOT A CHECK -- void non-negotiable.

Is the money in your bank today 09/02/2005?

Former Bank Manager, Could you be more specific. I want to make sure I get this right.
=
Look at my piggy bank after I bought gas yesterday
.
Unless you work in a bank or at a cash register,
doubt they would do a credit check. I remember telling my employer during my interview about my Ch13, explaining the surgery, the divorce, the agony...she sat there and then said "we don't do credit checks." This was at a major hospital. Background checks only.
Charge what the bank or library charges. nm

You can't bank "self-esteem" and if she wants to cut her losses, give it up.
Besides that, you take this to any court, small claims for instance, they can award you the money, but the court does not collect it. It's up to you. So you lost time on the work. Then you lose time in small claims but woo-hoo you win. Then prepare to waste more time collecting the debt small claims said is owed you.

What is your time worth. Mine is worth about 25-30 dollars an hour. I don't have the time or money to devote to chasing down a bad debt. I LOSE AGAIN. Self-esteem? I have self-esteem with or without a company not paying me.
This is the weekend that we are completely revamping the resume bank, so
there may be some disruption until it is live.
Bank debt/check card? Same thing?
Is the prepaid visa card the same as a bank debt or check card?
First, a prepaired debit card is not attached to your bank at all. SM

It is a separate account set up for use with your prepaid debit card only.  No checks.  No bank.  And with the prepaid card, they cannot withdraw money without your prior authorization.  Your employer can only deposit money if your employer provides a signed DD form with your signature on it.

I've never had any problems with my card.  I feel pretty secure.  I do pay bills with my card, but rather than authorize a recurring monthly charge (which you can do), I opt to manually get on the money card website and pay each bill, each month.  So consider this.  Once you authorize a recurring bill payment, it sometimes takes an act of God to stop it.
