I do!

I do major repairs on mine, BUT, I have degrees in both computer programming and information systems. The last virus I got, IF I had not had fairly extensive knowledge, I'd have done exactly what you did - take it to someone who did. My virus shut me down, I lost some data, and I had to partition my hard drive and reinstall XP. I don't advise that anyone try this on their own without training. Also, tell your husband that IF you did have the knowledge, you would likely spend $150.00 in software necessary to do what the repairman did for you. The reason a repairman is able to give you back a computer with your data intact (when I had to ditch mine and start over) is that he has invested in the right tools for the job.

The main objective is to keep you up and running - No computer, no income! When things such as this virus occur and you need repairs, just do it, write it off, and keep on typin'.
