depends on what part of the country you live in as far as cost of living goes. Think about this, in some places like W. VA or Arkansas, transcriptionists still start out at about $8/hour. So even if it took someone 5 hours to transcribe one hour of audio, that's about $12/hour. So for some people, that's a lot of money. If it is completed in 4 hours, that's $15/hour. Again, NOT BAD AT ALL. But you're right, $20 is down right insulting and degrading, and the overall tone of the post on Guru was ridiculous.
