Didn't even realize JLG was still around! nm

Didn't realize name newbie was taken,
just saw post below.
ooh I didn't realize you only enter x1...sm

I'm sorry because I didn't realize until this thread that we can only enter ONE time.  I entered a couple of contests over a couple of days.  Sorry.  Will up my reading comprehension for next year's MT Week.

Thanks again, MTStars, for making it a very special week for all of us!!!

Sorry, didn't realize I used same name - different QA person here
xx
LOL! Didn't realize that. She is a real
Isn't she?
Oh, sorry then. I didn't realize that the only person allowed
Get over yourself. You're no peach either, hon.
I didn't realize you are the thread poster ...
Did you meet the criteria set for the bonus? If you did, seek a legal remedy.

If you didn't, go on about your business.

If you believe you are owed a bonus, and it is not paid when it is supposed to be paid, then they are in arrears to you.

I personally wouldn't give that company a 2nd opportunity to fail to pay. I would quit and seek legal counsel.

Good luck.
sorry, didn't realize there was a time limit. I
personally just read some of the posts.
I didn't realize that until I read the EULA
the other day after talking about this. I've never had 2 computers, so I had no idea. I took it off and bought a new one for the 2nd computer. Thanks for the info.
didn't realize this video was 10 years ago
I also saw a video of Hunter Hays when he was older, and I thought it was so weird that there were two boys with the same name that both played accordian. I missed the part on the younger version that said it was an old video... still almost too cute to be true.
These sites look great, didn't realize how complicated.

Sorry, I got cut off and didn't realize it. I was told it was more of a way to get the work back
I was told it was more of a way to get the work back and forth.  Does it actually affect the line counts?
well, excuuuuse me. I didn't realize it had been deleted till after my first post
nm
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you wanted the fairy tale version of the truth.

In that case, it doesn't matter what school you choose because you'll always be able to get a job.  Medical transcription is a bed of roses right now.  Offshoring is just a myth and you can make at 25 cpl with any of the MTSOs out there.  They are all completely reputable, always honest, and totally respect every MT that they have ever employed.  Why, most MTSOs adhere to a strict policy of keeping their MTs happy and helping them be productive, they actually solicit their MTs opinions in an effort to better the profession and working conditions.

Now that you've had your little fantasy, maybe you can face reality!  THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION INDUSTRY SUCKS RIGHT NOW.  Unless you are an experienced MT who owns your own service or has your own accounts, you absolutely cannot earn a decent living.  The only way to eek out a living as an employee or IC of a service, is to chain yourself to your PC and work 12 hours a day or more.  Forget you have kids, forget you have a husband, forget that there is a world outside your front door.  Just type, type, type until your fingers bleed and then, MAYBE you can pay your bills and buy groceries at the end of the month!

That is reality!  That is the way it is and if you don't like it, tough!  I'm not someone who sugar coats and coddles.  I tell it like it is.  Don't waste your money on an MT school.  Look into medical coding.  Becaise of the EMR, more and more facilities are letting their coders work from home.  Not to mention that medical coding has a wonderful advocate in the AHIMA.  You have the backing and protecion of a wonderful association that works toward elevating the coding profession and protecting salary ranges.  AHIMA commands respect for the coders and the HIM professionals.

Ah, you didn't say that. I guess I'm the one who SM

needed clarification!

I don't really know what a TL does at your company, but where I used to work, a TL just wrote a bunch of useless e-mails and was actually the liaison betewen the company and the MTs - not for the benefit of the MTs but so the company wouldn't have to mess with all the "little people." That was not my favorite job, I'm sure you can tell.

I'd probably have to go over her head if she were making me feel uncomfortable for asking questions - give her one chance: "Would you please tell me which issues I should bring to you and which should go to QA?" and then if she shoots you down again, write the bigwigs and tell them they're wasting the big bucks on a useless person who won't do her job.

I guess you didn't win, either? ; )
x
to each his/her own-guess U also didn't like..?

If you mean CNN, yes, I guess so, but I didn't hear that anywhere else
nm
I didn't post that but if I had to make a guess...

I would guess the poster meant that newbies always feel they have a high accuracy.

Don't be offended....if that is what was meant.

Ask your QA or supervisor where you stand.  At least you care !!!

I guess I didn't do the link correctly.
It didn't show. This is it. http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10442_7-6656808-2.html?tag=rb_content;rb_mtx
I guess you never worked in a medical records dept? LOL
x
Oops, guess it didn't attach properly..sm
www.mtia.com
The OP never said she worked there and didn't
give specific examples of incorrect training or QA.
I worked for SS a few years ago and while we didn't have the
line count issues they were HORRIBLE.   They e-mailed me last week asking me to come back so they must be in dire straights cause I gave them an earful when I left.
Two of the best companies I've worked for didn't make me test. Makes you wonder if...sm
these MTSOs that mandate so many "tests" aren't just trying to see how many actual reports they can get transcribed for free. I could understand maybe a written test and one very in-depth transcription test, but 6 is utterly ridiculous. I would have definitely passed on that too and then told the MTSO exactly why.
Every company is different -- I worked FT for one as an employee but worked a split shift - sm
So I never took breaks. I would work 5 hours, break for about 4 hours then do another 3. Another company I worked for did not care what hours you worked (IC) but wanted a min. amount of work each day, 500 for PT and 1000 for FT-- BUT they paid you by how many lines an hour you put out, the higher the lph the higher up the scale you made per line in pay; they have since changed everyone to a flat rate with incentive. But bottom line, if you are an IC it does not matter what hours you work, though many ask for a schedule and ask you to stick to it, they just want you to meet line requirements daily, i.e. 1000 per day, 1200 per day, whatever it is.
I got up early, worked during naps, and worked when DH got home.

You have to be disciplined to make yourself work when baby is napping instead of maybe watching TV or doing housework, etc.

I might also go the route of having a teen come into your home, or either trying a mother's morning out program at a local church/daycare.   I've been home since my youngest was born and he has never been in all-day daycare, but I did have him in a mother's morning out program 15 hours a week at a local church.   It didn't help a lot with my work schedule because I had an older son in school and was a room mom and tutored other kids, but that might be an option.  The only problem with the mother's morning out program is they are around other kids and tend to pick up every germ.  I finally took my DS out of the program because he stayed sick.  You were supposed to keep them off if they had green nasal discharge and I did, but no one else did.  Every time I got him well after 2 to 3 days back he would be sick again.  Other than that it was very good for him because he would not have had a chance to be around kids his age otherwise.

Well of course we know that now. Back then we didn't because he didn't allow unfettered access.
c
right we children didn't tattle to the administrator did we. BTW, didn't you think we were &#
because some half-witted idiot said everyone was jealous because some other anonymous poster said they were going to be a doctor. Didn't they call it doctor envy. Oh yeah, that was all about you wasn't it busy-body MT. You with your degree and premed but yet you still post here and acuse others of jealously. I dunno but you and dano seem so close, I can't put my finger on it but I would say you could be computer clones. Jealous indeed. Children indeed. I think you are blowing your covers) dano and busy body MT. This whole "jealously" thing makes me think that you may be one and the same poster.
I didn't go into labor until 2.5 weeks later, so it didn't work. Sorry!...nm

Yes, I realize
that especially consults are often dictated in letter form... just something you have to get used to if you are doing the big 4. I was referring to clinics who send out little notes to referring MDs, family members, insurance companies, patient jobs, etc., not hospital notes.
Yes you did, but you must realize that...
just because you couldn't/didn't succeed doesn't mean others won't do well.  As someone else in this thread mentioned, if you couldn't handle indepedent study, you most likely could never handle working independently as an MT.  So, in your case, it's probably a blessing that you couldn't cut the program.
You do realize, do you not, that
this is just a story made up by TV writers? These are not real people. You do know that, don't you? None of it really matters. It's just a STORY.
I realize that
Of course I am blessed.  I am blessed to do a job that I love as well!  However, I just feel taken advantage of without a raise in five years... I guess I just never understood that.  I've never had a "real" job so I guess I'll learn to deal with it.
I realize that..
Yes, they are busy people but come on now, when I cannot understand an allergy because my dictator is smacking through it and does not repeat it, I get a little irritated, especially when she does it almost daily. I just needed to vent this evening.
I'm sure you don't realize how....
insulting it is to those of us who have spent many, many years learning to be an MT when people ask us if they could do it so they can stay home with the kids or maybe earn some extra money.  It's like someone asking if it would work for them to be an engineer because they like to look at pretty buildings.  For some reason, people who have never done this seem to think all you have to do is sit down and type.  As the "nice" poster said, it takes years of training and many more skills than being a fast typist.  Most of us are just a little touchy about that attitude that anyone can do it.  Even though that my not be your opinion, it came across that way in your question.
I realize this is going nowhere, but saying thanks
for a gift and throwing it away is not being thankful for the gift. Obviously if you were truly thankful for the gift, you wouldn't throw it away. I believe you would only throw a gift away if you felt it was a bad gift, which was the OPs contention in the first place.

Your mother is 100% right in saying you should be grateful for the things you have and receive, but there really is such a thing as a poor choice for a gift.
At least some people realize what they are and SM

don't have to hide behind some facade just to please inferior people.

Superiority is a threat to mediocrity.

Just because someone is not a sheep and does not follow the crowd makes some sheep nervous!

aww...your makin me cry...i realize that tho..
and i thank god everyday that he gave me the gift to type and work hard to be able to be home with them...instead of them being off in some daycare 40+ hours a week...i take it back...
My DH is starting to realize that I just....(sm)
might not stick around for much more of his stuff. I know that won't change him though. I just know it...
Hopefully docs will realize
that their time is better spent seeing more patients than doing data entry..glad that your docs realized this. I had one lone hold-out who refuses to do the clerical entry... but doesn't dictate either... still writes ShortHand notes in charts....Ugh!
Sorry - did not realize I was not allowed to do that. Really, sorry..nm
nm
they don't realize anything...don't care to!
Have really had it with this job.....tired of the whole deal.  To think I spent thousands of dollar in schooling, thousands of hours studying, thousands of hours in experience to come to the point where I wish I would have never gotten into this field!  Alas and alack, must push on...and the docs just don't give one hoot!
Actually, I did not realize that, but I am glad
xx
Thanks, yes, I do realize I make ...

... mistakes, too.  I'm far from perfect!  This just goes against my grain, I've stated the reasons in the original post, and I'm not happy at all working there.

They pay $3.50 per report.  Some are short procedures and others longer initial evals that take me 20-25 minutes, so it might even out in the end--I've only been doing this a month or so.  This is a good part-time job, but I need another job where I feel appreciated and not referred to as the "typist."  Someone mentioned spelling out conditions in the contract and that is a good idea.

Thanks to all--

Yes it was due to depression and I realize that....

How cruel you are.  I AM not a crack addict - I have NEVER done drugs.  I don't drink.  I don't even smoke.  I do have a child that was involved in this tragedy.  Actually I had two - the one that I lost.  So I am sorry if I was "weak" for the tragedies that I did go through but I am learning to cope with life.  Life is hard and apparently it is sunshiney everyday at your house - and good for you - I don't want to wish anything bad on anyone - even when they have no lack of respect for others.  You should watch what you say - things could turn around on you in your happy life in an instant - and then what would you do.  Would you be considered lazy, worthless or something else that is an undeserving gesture of who you really are?  Maybe someone will say "they are just on crack - they deserve what they are getting.  Maybe that just goes to show what laziness will do to you.  They don't deserve anything better."  I was not asking for sympathy.  I was pointing out how fast things CAN turn around when you are off track.  Merely using my fall to try to prevent someone else's.

I do thank all of the wonderful remarks prior to the rude post.  I am healing but it takes times.  I am actually able to get up and not be sad about what I have lost and I have been able to THANK GOD every day for letting me grow through certain things in my life and that I know they happened for a reason.  The reason will be a brighter future!

They must realize that better pay often means
And also that what's been going on in the MT biz for the past 10 or so years is morally reprehensible. Good for him! He's one of the FEW good-guys out there.
