if you are having a bad day at the desk and want to put your feet up and work.  The foot pedal stays with the foot elevated.  Best night's sleep I ever had.

memory foam mattress pad
The memory foam mattress pads are the greatest! I have never enjoyed such comfortable sleep.
I changed my pillow to a memory foam and
that has reduced my neck pains and headaches a lot. I also have a memory foam neck pillow I bought at Wal-Mart.
We bought a 2 2/1 inch memory foam topper and cannot live without it now! AWESOME

I have a Tempurpedic
Worth every penny.
My sis and husband bought Tempurpedic

I thought about it myself. The company came to their house and sat it up for them and everything. Of course, it cost a good deal, but they both said it is well worth it. I'm in the market myself, so I'm investigating myself. I have seen that sleep number advertisement with Lindsay Wagener, but haven't investigated the product much yet. Keep us informed on your search! Luck on your search!

Most are adjustable regarding where
the Expander list is on the screen. Smartype allows you to float it just below the cursor or you can plant it at the bottom or top of the page. I think most of the commercial Expanders allow this adjustment in their preferences.
You need a better chair with adjustable arms.

Great for soft touch and speed. Love it.
Adjustable keyboard tray?
I'm a short person and need to get an adjustable keyboard tray that I can move up or down to accommodate my height better (one that slides under my computer desk as well of course).  Can anyone recommend a particular brand and model?  There are so many out there and I need a good one.  Thanks!
Adjustable Keyboard question - please see message
I have a desk with a drawer in the very front.  I want to get an adjustable keyboard.  Will the drawer make this impossible or can the keyboard be mounted to the bottom of the drawer?  Thank you.
a coworker is allergic to the foam
covering as well. either way they make my ears hurt/red so i put just a tiny bit of cotton from a cotton ball inside each ear before putting on my headset and don't have any problems.
No, but I knew someone allergic to the foam covering.
Might be something to ponder.
I made a little foam heel rest so I can have my shoes off
otherwise, can't feel the peddle.
Thanks for the ideas. Someone really should create a foam rubber keyboard!

Has anyone bought special mattress like Tempurpedic or the air mattress that let's you select
comfort level.  I'm in the market and can't make up my mind.  Definitely want something a little better than box springs and regular mattress.  Do they make water beds anymore?  I had one in the past and that was really ugly but comfortable.

ROFL! Thanks for the memory.
It was horrible at my last job.  The supervisor told us to never, ever touch the thermostat.  She'd sit in her office with a heating vent and get too hot, so she'd turn the heat down.  My cubicle was by the windows in the winter with subzero temperatures.  I was so cold that I had on my winter coat, gloves and a blanket.  Then in the summertime, it was too hot with the sun reflecting through the windows.  I used to climb up on my desk and change the thermostat anyway.  I loved ticking that woman off because she was such a shrew.  She was firing any employee who had more than 10 years of service because they were making too much money.  She could hire college grads with more technical skills at lower wages.  So much for not discriminating against people for their age.  The things she wrote them up for were asinine.
well, he did say he has diminished memory!

that's a memory buster

Off topic, but cute.

This was around the late 1980s ... my oldest was around 8 or 9 years of age. My parents, (now ex-) husband, and I were playing Trivial Pursuit. It was the Entertainment category. My daughter wanted to read the next question (about the TV show "Bonanza") and instead of saying Virginia she said vagina.

Pause and then four adults became unglued. And my daughter is just sitting there looking totally baffled ("What'd I say?)

"I'll explain it in about 10 years, sweetheart."

and if you don't have a good memory?

how will you remember all of these abbreviations?

SmarType, Instant Text, Shorthand, ShortCut, and so forth all require some sort of memory retention. That's a fact. And using the Keystrokes book (which I have) doesn't help either. You can use all of the systems you want (including the abcz system), but when you're dealing with overlapping phrases that use the same letters, it STILL boils down to remembering things.

If your memory is not good, you're up that well-known creek.

You can upgrade memory. 512 RAM is
better, 256 would be sufficient though.   In the car you would use the foot pedal same as at home.  Put it on the floorboard and push or use hot keys.   If you are going  to travel and work would need alternative ways to download - cell phone, WiFi, dial-up, etc.  I download before I go and use my cell phone to upload if I'm not somewhere where I have another option when I need to send in work.   You can use the laptop keyboard or figure a way to use an external keyboard depending on how much space you have.
Can anyone refresh my memory....

in Windows XP, how can I see what programs are running automatically on startup?  I should know this, but for some reason my brain is not cooperating!

TIA!!

I don't think it will. But I can't say for sure. If memory serves, you can't have both pr
running simultaneously and switch back and forth, the pedal won't work or it will only work with one but not the other.  However, if you've configured your pedal in both programs, then it should work with each program separately.
Re: Memory problems
Even though you're only 39 it could hormonal. My doctor told me the eary stages of menopause can start in your late 30's and does affect your memory.
Memory problems...
In the last year or so, I have noticed I am having problems with my short-term memory.  Not just the usual walking into a room and wondering, "Now, why did I come in here?" although I do that, too.  My work space is in my basement and unless I write something down as soon as I think of it, by the time I walk up the stairs, it's gone.  I was at my GYN this spring and told her about it.  She tested my blood sugar and did a thyroid panel and they were fine.  I just turned 39, so I feel like I am too young for this.  I have no trouble remembering medical terms for work or with remembering things from years ago, it's just the day-to-day stuff that I feel I should be able to remember and just can't.  My husband just laughs but I am so frustrated!
The memory showing says up to on
all of them, which means that is the maximum you can have, but you customize.  You can pick the cheapest one, but by the time you customize it, it can be $200 to $300 more.    I looked at them all and the processor speed is not that fast.  Depending on what programs you use it may be too slow.    I would get one with a faster processor speed.    You may also want to get a laptop with XP instead of Vista since there are still so many bugs with it.
If memory serves
it'll be about $50 to $60 a month. When I changed my phone to business, I also had to upgrade my internet as I have internet through AT&T. If you have internet through another provider then you might not need to do that.

Don't you have a good memory!

I loved the Mirra trial chair--it was lumped out with all the bells and whistles, lots of places to fine tune things, and it has the best lumbar support of the two chairs.  The only thing I didn't care for was the seat was too small.  It confined my butt too much and so I felt a little cramped in it.  But, again, I'm 5' 10" and weigh 220 pounds, so I'm more of the size of a dude, maybe even bigger.

I've been sitting in the Aeron chair for just about a week now and it is so much more comfortable...for me.  My husband also likes the Aeron better, as he is stuck trying the Mirra this week and he wants the Aeron back.

The only bummer is I can't really compare apples to apples, as the Mirra demo model is fully lumped out as you can get with custom ordering from that line.  The Aeron demo that we have is the stripped down version, the cheapest you can get from that line.

But as it stands right now, if I had to pick one, it would be the Aeron, even if it is the stripped down model.  Also, the plastic back on the Mirra demo chair is all cracked and actually broken down the middle, as if it really can't withstand rigorous use or constantly leaning back in it. (see picture for close up)  The fella couldn't tell us how long it has been in use as a demo chair.  It looks about 10 years old at least...pukey green sort of color.  The adjustable arms on the Mirra, they not only go up and down but flair out or in...well they are super touchy and don't lock in that side to side position, so  if you push off the arms to get up out of the chair, they will click open and make you feel unstable as you are getting up out of the chair.  Not a big deal at all, but it would be nice if they locked.

So yeah, final vote from both of us is for the Aeron.  We are trying to get a demo of the Cella chair but they don't think they have one available.

Sounds like you need more memory n/m

Sometimes memory sticks can go bad. You may have
a couple sticks of RAM. Check your RAM usage.
storage vs memory
I think you have a basic lack of understanding of the difference between these two. Storing information won't slow down your computer unless you are constantly accessing it & your disk is really fragmented, & even then the difference might not be noticeable. Speed has to do with memory & processor speed, & photos or files stored on your computer don't have anything to do with this. Otherwise why would hard drives be equipped to handle 250, 500, 1000 GB (or more) of information? Processor speeds and amount of RAM have not increased proportionately. It's the RAM & processor speed you should be thinking about, not how many photos or videos you have. Memory is easy to add. Go to crucial.com.
How much free memory do you need, have both sm
Do not think my laptop is sufficient for large files involved - never thought of using it but would love to one day.
The memory will refresh when you turn it off
so you have better computer performance.  Also, unless you have very good heat sinks in the machine, it is best to turn it off to let it cool down.  The temperature inside the machine is hotter than the Mojave desert in the middle of summer (and that's darned hot) and heat will do more damage to a computer than anything else.
Very good point here about memory - XP uses a lot - sm
you would probably be better off just buying a new computer. Many offer their credit card and 6 months no interest. That is how I bought my Dell 2 years ago, paid it off in 6 months, no interest. I love those deals, we buy all our major purchases that way, have never paid interest yet.
Oh yes, and memory lapses! Forget it! I will
be in the middle of a sentence, or a post, and seriously not even remotely remember the topic of conversation! I lose everything, and am almost to the point of stuttering at times! This is just peachy!! Now, where am I?? What was I doing??

I use a foot pedal. Your memory in your laptop would be

no different than your desktop.  I wouldn't have anything less than 512 RAM.  You may have a low MHz computer, which is why it is slow.  The higher the better, but at least 700.  You don't need a huge hard drive.  You can't plug your laptop into your tower.

Defrag, run msconfig and unselect everything, run virus scan, run Spyware scan and see if that helps.  if your MHz is low you are just going to be slow.

Short-term memory problems..sm
My SIL gave me a sign a few years ago that hangs in my office that says, "I think I am going through mental pause!"   I use sticky notes to make many lists, too.  You're not alone!
When I connect to my computer via camera or memory

stick I have a menu come up that asks what I want to do, view, copy to  a file, etc.    Once they are in a folder you can send pictures as an attachment or copy the picture to the e-mail.   If you send as attachment when you request attachment it will ask you to search for whatever it is you want to attach, if you want to include a picture in the e-mail  right click on the picture and one of the options that comes up is to e-mail picture.  Just follow the directions.

If memory serves, the code for the headset key is *11. So... SM

you would press the program button twice (there are 3 buttons directly beneath the LED screen on your phone and the program button is the one at the far right, I believe) and then you would press the button you want to repogram (the headset button) and then press *11 and enter.

Now, don't give me a hard time if I'm wrong.   It has been years since I've had to reprogram a C-phone, but I used to have to do regularly when I worked in the hospital as a supervisor.
