I have been on ASR since 8/15 (sm)

In Reply to: I was thinking with ASR for MQ. They have dropped the line rate 2 cents as of October 1. Now, if - MQMT

bear in mind I get a mix; some ASR, some transcription. I decided to start keeping a manual count of job signon/signoff times, separating the ASR jobs from straight transcription. I have most definitely noted increased production. Today, for example: So far I have worked a total of 3.25 hours, with 7 ASR jobs totaling 241 lines, and 20 regular jobs totaling 823 lines. I've had my usual mix of work types. I spent 44 total minutes on the ASR jobs (including download/upload times) and the reminder on straight transcription. Calculating the time spent separately for each type along with my line rate (and allowing for the reduction, though it is not yet in effect for me, and won't be until 10/15)it still comes out to $25-plus an hour, which is about normal for me. The bottom line is that so far I've worked 3-1/4 hours and produced 1064 lines, for an average of about 327 lph. With straight transcription, I was more at about 250 lph, unless I got a run of normals.

The letter I received last week indicated my current line rate for transcription, and my ASR rate which would go into effect 60 days after I've been on ASR.

I think we just have to wait and see what the package offers, and make decisions based on that. Right now I'm pretty satisfied with the ASR work I've been getting; I try to use all the keyboarding shortcuts, keep my hands on the keyboard and away from the mouse, and it seems to be working out okay. The reports ARE getting better as the system learns the doctors, although it still makes for some funnies sometimes.

Really, the logical thing is to see what is offered; if it is acceptable, take it -- if it's not, find a different employer.
