SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program. Shorthand is lots cheaper and also has a trial.

Shorthand and SpeedType are exact same program. Shorthand will cost you lots less.

You can use Shorthand in ANY program, it works outside your program
I have never found a platform it did not work with and I have worked on several different versions of Meditech. Just start using it.
It is in the Shorthand program.
Open ShortHand and click on help.
It's a really good program. I use Shorthand with it.
Instant Text also works
Shorthand program with Citrex

I believe that Instant Text will work and it is an awesome program!  I have been using it for about 7 years, really helps production and more.

Shorthand program question

I am using the trial version of the ShortHand program from pcshorthand.com.   I have some long entries in there and it seems to take forever for it to go into my report.  I sit and watch each sentence come onto the screen.  Is there a better shorthand program?  Where it just instantly pastes the entire text "BAM" instantly without having to stop and wait?

Also, maybe it just does it like this because it is a trial version????

Thanks!!!

shorthand program/bayscribe
I am having problems with this too. Did anyone resolve this? I turned of teh Bayscribe player, but how do you get ShortHand to start working>
Yep, in Shorthand & SpeedType since they are the same program.
nm
Is Shorthand a "separate" program/not DQS?
It sounds that way, but just checking.  Thanks.
Shorthand works with every program, it works outside the program you use, does not interfere.
nm
Are you using Autotext, too? Macros? Why not get a program like Shorthand for your

Is there a way to copy Shorthand program from one computer
to another when I do not have the disk anymore?  Any help appreciated.  I recently bought a new computer and am looking to install my ShortHand on that computer.
Shorthand is great short cut program,
I wish you the best.
SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program.
SpeedType is just a different brand name and costs a whole lot more.

You cannot import into AutoText. You can copy your spf dictionary into Word and then you'll have to create the AutoText entries one by one.
Save yourself some $$ - Speedtype and Shorthand are the exact same program.

Get a decent word expansion program like PRD or Shorthand sm
autocorrect is very limited.  If you want to make money, your really need a good expander.
SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program. Smartype only
works in MS Word.
Shorthand and Speedtype are the exact same program, just sold
under different brand names. ShortHand does have a trial version.
Not on dial-up, but use ExText. I just keep my own Shorthand program open and minimized and use it

I use Shorthand for Windows and love it. I have found it works well with most every program. SM

I have used with Word and Word Perfect.  I have used it with Meditech and Cerner.  I have used it with RadNet and StarNavigator for Radiology.  I can use it with my email applications and on the internet if I choose.  If the Expander is open and running, you can use it with any and every window program you use.

I was really simple to learn to use too.  Very user friendly.

I checked that. I heard it was a "common sense" program, no think? Can't find it.
nm
You should not be having that problem, Shorthand works "ouside any program." Contact Shorthan
nm
Speedtype is also the exact same program as Shorthand, but Speedtype is a lot more expensive.
SpeedType AND ShortHand both come with a converter file that will import your AutoCorrect entries to either program. You do not have to pay Betsy to do that unless you flat can't figure out how to do it. It's not at all hard to do. Productivity Talk has posts that even tell you how to do it -- for FREE.
would it be better to take out one of the (many) in these two sentences?

She advised me that for many, many years she had a tea and toast diet with a very poor protein intake, and admitted to not having consumed milk for many, many years. She also had the habit, as do many patients with osteoporosis, by lying down a great deal during the day to coop with her back pain before finally seeking medical attention.

spacing after sentences

Does everyone space once after the end of a sentence now?  My daughter takes keyboarding in high school and I just realized they are not taught to double space after the end of a sentence.  Should I then change to single spacing after the end of a sentence?

Anyone use only 1 space after sentences?
This is new to me on one of my jobs.  I have always typed 2 spaces after sentences for 25 years.  Going to be hard to break this habit now.
You have said in a couple of sentences SM
what I have felt about this field for years now--it is next to impossible to deal in a normal way with most MTs--they have warped personalities and have no concept of how to act in everyday social situations.
How about constructing some proper sentences?

The account I do VR on is verbatim so can't fix sentences. nm
nm
I stick with 2 spaces between sentences - it
and easier for ME to proofread, which results in a more accurate record.

BOS is just a money-making scheme for whoever wrote it. Nothing more.
Well, some accounts call for complete sentences for all. sm

Other accounts call for no abbreviations, spell out everything.  So, if the account specifics call for it, the MT is to do it.  It is not always the MT or MTSO.

I proof as I go. I read my words and sentences as I go....SM
Never received anything less than a 99% on my regular QA reviews and usually have a 99.8, 99.9, or 100%.
Ya know, some hospitals/accounts want fragmented sentences...sm
Some look at it as a technical document and fragments are okay with them.

Just saying.......
I misworded one of my sentences and left another word out. Please sm ...
I WROTE: "I have been told by former employers that I am well above average and deserve to make more than what I'm making especially if it's obtainable."

What I meant to say was this.."I have been told by former employers and QA that I am well above average. Therefore, I feel will my skill level and experience that I deserve to make more than what I'm currently making, especially if its negotiable."

I was in a huge hurry. I hope I cleared that up. Thanks!

Having IT provide phrases, sentences is its best advantage. Two words together.
But one word? By the time it arrives in the layout screen, you have typed all but the last letter.

claudicatio - semicolon

I miss Word's auto correct boohoo
1 or 2 spaces @ end of sentences? I have Instant Text put in 2, but I have noticed
that after I upload them to the co. I work for, the extra space is being removed.  Do you think that that one little space at the end of each sentence would amount to a hill of beans over the course of a week?  Just curious what you think.  And before you ask, no this was not disclosed to me before I started working here, however, I made the grave error before being hired of only asking how many characters per line and if spaces were included.
One embellished sentences, another did 200 reports and had 70 kicked back with errors.

All; heavy dependence on single words and phrases/standard sentences of all lengths. SM
Like San Francisco does, they can be used with any account/any dictator, which is extremely important. Just entering mostly whole reports and sections makes one dependent on that account/that employer and back to square one when it's time to take on a new account or even a new dictator.

I also have dozens and dozens of headers, bolded, unbolded, capped, lower case, etc., in various forms of each, like "Indications" "Indication," "Indications for Procedure," "Indications for Surgery," and so on and on and on.
{@KEY BkSp}-pack-per-year is for Shorthand. Using the semicolon works with both Shorthand and

;yo = -year-old

;py= -pack-year

etc...

PRD is a DOS program. I don't think it work with Word, a Window's program.

It will count everything if you go in the settings and program it to. Good program!
Sylcount is an awesome and accurate counting program also. That will count everything if you "tell it to".
I took shorthand too. But it sure comes in helpful for my expanders. I view words in shorthand for
i did use shorthand once in a job but i was so nervous the "boss" took pity and dictated the report on dictaphone.
If it is Shorthand, save the SPF file to a disk, then if you buy Shorthand yourself....
you can just drop the SPF file into it. That is not dishonest since you are the one who put the macros in. I am sure is it is another Expander there is a way to save the macro file and then drop it in the expander you buy on your own.
I WASN'T GUESSING. I HEARD WHAT I HEARD VERY CLEARLY.
I don't even agree with what QA said, but they are QA. Question them, and your out the door.
