I have it and don't use it sm

Because the closest dentist on the plan is 2 states away.

When I have had work done, I have paid in full with cash. My dentist will give a discount for doing so. I'd call around and ask if they offer cash discounts. For dentists in particular, so many of the plans out there end up costing them more than they are worth (and you too). I know mine you have to have it for A YEAR before you can have it pay for a crown, for instance and it is 18 months for orthodontia. It is not cheap either, so it would be better, if I needed to have some ortho done, to have it done when I want to and pay 18 months' worth to the dentist instead of the insurance company.

You might look into a discount plan. I have had those too and they were cheaper for me and the doctor involved.
