From what I can see, it is an internal problem and may have something to do with the mechanism/bar that slides the light bar along the glass. I'm not sure there's anything that can be done about it.
My problem is more of a smudge, not a really distinct line, and I can live with it because it's not my main printer. Sorry I can't be of more help.
