I heard on the radio 23 states still have paddling in schools or physical discipline.

Does anyone's kids go to a school district where this is in place?  I was shocked.  I remember hearing rumors in middle school 20 years ago or so that they would paddle you, but I had no idea this was going on.  I was shocked.

i'd be afraid I would type what I heard on the radio

When I worked in-house my manager and a coworker were having a conversation and I typed a couple sentences of it without realizing.

Heard his song on the radio-it's a hit-Go Taylor

Taking my car in for service & heard it on the radio...

I caught the tail end of the report, but wasn't exactly sure what they were talking about so switched to an AM news station.  By that time the second plane had hit and the reporter at the scene was practically hysterical, saying, "You're not listening to me.  Another plane just hit the second tower!"

Then while my car was being worked on, the TV in the waiting room was on CNN or one of those channels and I watched at least the first tower fall from there and just remember thinking "I can't believe this is happening."  I guess I was in shock, because I didn't cry until the memorial service at the National Cathedral was televised several days later.

I heard same golf suggestion and many schools offer it. I'm sure
aaaaaa
Driving my kids to school. Heard it on the radio, Bob and Tom. sm
I never heard them be more serious than that day.  The whole day is still bright in my mind.  I remember everything that happened, where I was and what I did.  I will never forget it.
Physical um um um Thrappy for physical therapy!

It's both the schools and co.'s fault. Schools are trying to kick em' out as soon as they
"graduate" and companies are very willing to hire anyone who says "they went to this school or that." I know. I've been there as a former instructor.

I truly believe that not everyone has what it takes to become a good MT. And I mean good. You absolutely cannot guess on anything - and I would stress this over and over to my students at all times. You have to know how to spell, and you have to have basic, or beyond basic, grammar knowledge.

My classes would normally start out at 15 to 17. And by the end of the first week it would go down to about 10. And then after that I would graduate around 8 or so. I would tell them straightforward that this job entails - the skills you must have to do this work - and I probably did turn a few of them away. But when they had it, and I knew they could do this work (I could usually tell by the first 5 papers they turned in) then I would encourage them over and over. I would call them, meet with them, and tell them to stick it out, and that I thought they had found their "spot" in life....That's what my MT instructor did for me many years ago and I am so grateful for her.

I know these gals and guys want to be at home with their young ones - hey, I do too! But as an editor also, I believe that some are just not cut out for this.

Also, I find acute care a lot less challenging than actual clinic work! I have been editing clinic work here lately and boy have I found that to be challenging. It is very, very specific. If they can do clinic work no problem, then they should train on acute care too.

Just my humble opinion.

Oh, as for VR. No, newbies cannot do that right now. You need people with editing background who know thousands upon thousands of words to edit VR. I don't think schools care about training them for VR - just graduate them with the basic knowledge and get a job doing clinic work! Yeah, if it were that easy!
It's all about discipline!
I love being by myself too.  I live out in the country and I love not having to drive in the winter (I live in the north).  I get up at 6:00 a.m. and I'm done at 2:30.  Lots of places are full of flexibility.  I love learning I've been doing this job for almost 24 years now and it's great.  You learn a LOT every day!  Like the other gals said though, you have to know your stuff.  I've been working at home now for 10 years and I love it.  I had worked a lot of years in clinic/hospital setting though and built up a lot of experience to be able to be really good at what I do.  Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
But what a shame that the right to discipline has more or less
I was actually investigated by child protection because a teacher reported me for washing my 11 year old daughter's mouth out with soap because she called me a f'ing b****.  All I did was put a spot of dishsoap on her tongue and told her that if she used those words in our house again or if I heard of her using those words again she would get the same.  Those words are not spoken in my home, but they're heard daily by the kids walking by my house on their way to and from school.  The only thing she learned from the whole lesson is that I have no authority and now she can threaten ME.
Work Discipline

How do you stay disciplined while working at home?

I have found using "MyTimeManager" helps show how much/how little I have accomplished during the course of the day, but with a 4-year-old running around, it's easy to slack off and get off track.

Just wanted to see how everyone else stays disciplined while working at home :-)

MT is usually for medicine. Nursing is a different discipline.

yes working at home takes a lot of discipline

it's sometimes hard to get away from all the distractions (especially if you have no separate room for an office) but if the work is there and we don't do enough of it it's our own fault if the paycheck is small.

Totally agree with separate space, it helps my discipline, also!
Good luck!
see what I mean? LOL ... physical not physician...

physical lines
If you are on DQS,the physical line (the line you see) in the text is not the 65-character line you are paid by. And the number of characters in that line can vary depending on how high/low you have your text zoom (smaller font would be more characters on a line and fewer with large font).

Your lines are calculated by dividing the amount of characters in a report by 65. It has nothing to do with the "line" you see on the report.

The best way to be sure DQS is counting your lines correctly is to import a report into a word processing program that counts characters, divide that amount by 65, and see if it matches your DQS count. I've done this and it is correct including spaces and the red headers.

Hope this is what you were asking and hope this helps :)
Did you get physical address??
Did you get the name of her company and the physical address?  Phone number?  There is a lesson to be learned here -- you still need to get all of this info in case something like this happens again.   Unless you have a physical address you cannot send a demand letter with return receipt or serve her with papers or anything.  Hopefully you do have that and can send her a written certified letter demanind payment within 10 days.  Then onto small claims court.   But none of this is possible without a physical address.    Good luck.  If you have her full name or business name and city -- you might be able to do a search to find a phone number.   Did her check to you have a phone number on it?  I always take a copy of the front of checks at least the first one so that I have their account number, etc.  Also shows payment.   Let us know how it comes out.
Physical Therapy
I have a physical therapist interested in me doing his transcription.  It is a small office, they only work about 3 days a week, and I was wondering what to charge him per line? I currently work for an eye dr. making .11 a line and a service for .09. I may have to travel once a week to pick up tapes?(hope not) Any feedback is appreciated.
WRONG! A child that has a fear of discipline = a well behaved child.
I have a beautiful, intelligent 11 year old daughter that hasn't had a spanking in 6 or 7 years and probably only 3 her entire life. She is very well behaved and I get compliments on her behavior constantly. When she does get out of line all I have to say is, "Shall I call your father?" Call it what you want, it works. She respects and obeys me and her father. Why??? For fear of the facing the consequences of misbehaving. Having a total lack of fear or respect for authority is exactly what's wrong with Generation X/kids today. I turned out just fine as did my siblings. Why?? Because my parents took "time out" to bust our a$$es whenever we got out of line.

Is that clear enough for you???
What?! You are WRONG? Physical Therapy - more than that.
Pharmacy - WAAAAY more than that.  In fact, I don't think ANY of those pay $12 to $18 an hour.  You really should open your eyes and look around.
DH would be outpatient, and then physical therapy.
He has decided not to have surgery, at least not now.   He would be out of work 3 weeks without short-term disability and only 1 week of sick pay, plus he says we can't afford surgery.   While that is true, if you need it, you need it.  I think he's as much scared as anything.  The only surgery he has ever had was a vasectomy under a local and he refuses to take anything stronger than Tylenol.    He isn't hurting now, no swelling, etc. so it isn't like he is in daily pain.  I've tried to talk him into the surgery because we've met our deductibles and while it isn't that much we would have to start over with that, but I can't make him do it.
Physical Therapy Transcripiton

Hello! I'm looking for any of you that are experienced as Physical Therapy transcriptionists. Can anyone give me a head's up about transcribing in this specialty? I've done psychiatric for the past five years and am pretty sure I'll get this position I've applied for at a local clinic. Any support, resources, etc. would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance to all,

Terry

yearly physical (joke)
I went to the doctor for my yearly  physical. The nurse starts with certain basics.

How much do  you weigh?" she asks.
"115," I say. The nurse puts me on the scale. It  turns out my weight is 140.

The nurse asks, "Your height?" "5 foot  8," I say.
The nurse checks and sees that I only measure 5' 5".

She then takes my blood pressure and tells me it is very high.

"Of course it's high!" I scream, "When I came in here I was tall and slender! Now I'm short and fat!"

She put me on  Prozac

Have you considered Physical Therapy?
Or occupational therapy? There is a great need for it, it helps people, and you generally don't kill anyone (grin). While it takes a master's degree to be a physical therapist, the assistant is a 2-year degree.

I have an application in to the physical therapy program at my university, and I'm a little nervous because I'll be turning 50 my next birthday. On the plus side, I won't have children surreptitiously sticking the cat into a Ziplock bag while I'm trying to study this time.
Need some physical therapy websites
Just got a call for transcription for 2 physical medicine doctors and 5 physical therapist and they want me there tomorrow.  I'm looking for some websites for terminology/word list/samples that I can review.  Thanks.  Wish me luck.  This is a temp to hire position both onsite and at home.  Sounds good to me.
Gross physical line??
From what I have been told, a gross physical line is anything typed on a line, regardless if it's one letter or 65.  My question is ... would 8 cpl on a gross physical line for acute care be good pay?  How about 7 cpl on a gross physical line for emergency room reports?  Thanks
Physical therapy website

Have been trying to find a good PT website. I Googled and did not find what I was looking for, which is a site that lists tests, like "cat and camel" and so forth. The sites I have found are not user friendly.

You and your kids need to get out, permanently, BEFORE he gets physical from the drinking. nm

Walking will not only improve your physical health

but probably your mental health too.  You'll get fresh air, take time to smell the roses, meet your neighbors, etc.

Unfortunately I live in the county and we are 8+ miles from anything.

Did he have blood work w/his job physical? Maybe they missed something. nm

Please excuse my typo above - physical therapy

Any kind of intimacy emotional or physical

is being unfaithful.  Put your effort into your best friend, who should be your mate, otherwise, what is the point? If you put your effort into someone else, of course you would be close.

Honestly, your heart knows what is right and wrong.  Listen to it. Respect your relationships or expect to be disrespected yourself.

Physical therapy format needed...

I just started a new account which is typed in a form in Word.  It is not very efficient.  Can anyone suggest where I can find a basic format for transcribing physical therapy evaluations.

Thanks

Physical fitness exams DO NOT require
breast exams. We are required to have them for school before certain grades in our state, and never do they do breast or GYN exams on kids.
I just looked at the physical form online...
There is nothing on it about a breast exam, sorry. I live in PA, too. My daughter got her permit a couple of years ago and she did not have a breast exam. (I'm still with you on the Gardasil, though!)
IF IT'S THE PHYSICAL STRAINS YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT...SM

How many waitresses do you see in their 60s and early 70s doing a job that would rival any nursing job as far as physical strai?.  You might want to look on the NURSING BOARD, where they have students 58-59 y/o just starting nursing school; I'm among them, even though I have prior nursing education and need to finish up a few months/years.

If you think a full-fledged RN program might be too much to carry at this point, have you considered an LPN course for 12 months FT or 18 months PT study?  LPNs make a fair salary, even as newbies ... beats this MT "indentured servitude".

HEADERS....as in what? The things like HISTORY AND PHYSICAL headings?

or the heading at the top of the page that we don't type?

and do you find it a little offputting that they can't put in writing that they pay for spaces?  it makes me think all is not kosher.

IF by PT you mean Physical Therapy -- it's EASY! I love PT, don't get it where I work now tho

Probably old question..history and physical plural or singular?

A history and physical was done OR A history and physical were done.

Hey honey, you can work at home and no one will care about your physical appearance. sm
I actually hired a girl one time who was overweight. She could not BELIEVE I would hire her. I told her I did not care if she weighed 1000 pounds, if she could do the work, she was okay by me.
All parts of the body can be palpated, it is part of the physical examination
ditto
Does anyone know of companies that hire for physical thearpy work? Many years experience.
nm
and accrording to my physical therapist whose company uses them, the quality stinks royal

Also they have to pay to set up new states
So they might not want to hire from states not set up in already.
Indeed it does, as the letter clearly states
it was a DEP error
It clearly states in the message that they
regarding the status of the job.
document where the IRS states this please? nm
nn
she states below that she did try in the past sm
to bring on another IC but they were resistant to the idea.

She has already tried doing what you suggest, to no avail.

I have been in this situation as well, and while it is very true that we are, in essence, vendors to our clients, there are offices that are truly difficult to work with.

It is a good idea to consider taking an employee position in this case, I agree, but please know that she's already tried addressing the issue in the way you suggest. :-)
Some *states*. YIKES!
.
Working in 2 different states. sm

I know a MQMT who does this.  I don't know the particulars, but she's literally on opposite ends of the map at different times.  It seems to me that there should be no problem doing this.  Of course, time zones, etc. may vary, but things like that should be easily resolved.

Have fun, whatever you decide!

Practice eating gross things w/o gagging, learn to do puzzles and amp up physical endurance.
Study and find out what type of profile you may fit under and act accordingly. Quiet low-key people have won and I think they had the ability to read other people (Sandra and the last winner). Then there are the born leaders who form an allegiance with groupies who trust them (Rob). Just see where you fit personality wise and physically and plan ahead.
I WASN'T GUESSING. I HEARD WHAT I HEARD VERY CLEARLY.
I don't even agree with what QA said, but they are QA. Question them, and your out the door.
