working full time.  Constantly out of work. I moved to a different company in September of last year as an IC QA and still had the same problem.

Actually, I made just under 56K last year...
It is only in the 40K range for the first year.
I made 33K last year. nm
xx
I made $45K last year doing rad, 9 cpl.
I make a lot more there than I do with acute care.

Gotta love it.
I made over $20,000 my first year.
I graduated early this year and I worked 30-35 hours a week and pulled in just over $20,000. I started in acute care and then switched to a clinic account which I make a lot more money on.
Wow. I only WISH I made 31K per year!

Last year I made $36,000...... BUT
I work 12 days on and 2 days off.....anywhere from 8 to 12 hours per day just to make a buck.
If I made $250,000 a year and had Air Force One to myself, I'd
take a lot of vacations, too.
A co-worker made this last year sm

for a Halloween office party.  So cute to see a plate of mice with licorice tails and almond ears.  She actually put these on a huge cookie sheet with a Rat Cake in the middle.  (rat cake was covered in chocote icing-- inside was a red cake, actually quite delicious.)  LOL   Rats and mice. ....  not too scary for that age group though.

Not getting back - how much we made gross for the year. nm

Full-time without OT. Made about 40K last year. nm

so far no one has posted they've made 100 grand a year. nm

I made 21,000 last year working part time...
hoping when my youngest gets a bit older (she is 16 months) I can make a bit more...
Sickest thing, I made more money my first year as MT as I do now, for working
zz
I made a whole $12K this year, granted when my daughter got cancer in March - sm
my income took a big hit as I went "on leave" from my FT job, and cut back on my PT job drastically. I did not get back to working a more normal schedule until October. I now work 2 PT jobs. So had I not had a 6 month hit in the pocket book I expect I would have made over $20K this year, not a fortune. My goal for 2006 is $24K, and as I am going to try my best to "work smart", I should be able to acheive that, staying disciplined is the key, of which I am sorely lacking. I am lucky that I don't have to live on this though, I'd be starving. As it is I have to play catch up on a lot of bills since I lost 6+ months of income, not fun.
Made 60K last year working 50 hours a week being paid on gross line
nm
i made $15/hr before and didn't stay long because i made so much more on production. sm
that was with full benes too. i wouldn't do it for less than $20, but i think even with $20, i'd want benes. are you in-house?
Mine are in year-round thank goodness! They've started their new year 2 months ago.

Union diesil mechanic - good pay, great benefits. We swap year to year on who brings home more sm
money.....but I am an IC and he has all the benefits...health insurance/dental that the company pays for, pension plan, 401k, etc.  Factor all of that in and he makes way more than I do.
to cowgirl - Last I knew, last year the job paid $25,000/year no taxes, etc.
The hospital was bombed about a year ago, but not a lot of damage, very minimal damage.
44-year-old WF, M, Texas, 3 grown kids, just had 26 year wedding anv.

nope, still crunching last few days of year to hit my 50k this year. how can you when you haven'

Nothing this year. We ALWAYS got a cool surprise in the past, but this year nothing. :-( nm

After I went to a 1-year MT course at a vocational school, it was so bad that I did the 2-year colle
Not only did I finally receive the proper training, but the woman on the advisory board hired and mentored me. I also joined the local AAMT and networked. Good luck. I know how frustrating it can be. A community college will have a good program to include medical language, MT courses taught by local MTSOs, business English, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, etc.
I don't know how it made such a small diff in your invoice... made a $100 diff in mine! (sm)

If it were only adding up to three bucks, I wouldn't sweat it. $100? Yeah, that's baseball registration for my son for this year. I am not giving tabs, returns, etc. away free when it adds up to that much difference!  Why should I charge less for a Return than I would for a"K"?

I think he makes $700,000.00 a year, and if they ask him to walk before his first year MQ has...sm

to pay him a cool 1 million dollars.  You can check this out at the Medquist website.   I think the CFO makes $350,000 a year, and the head of IT makes $250.000 a year.

P.S.  This does not include the perks, like expense account, car allowance, sign-on bonus, etc.

Our 16 year old son has been working for a year now to pay for his truck.
He's learning how to sand and do body work and how the engine and transmission go together. My parents didn't buy cars for my siblings and I either. I had a 20+ year old beater car until I could afford to move up to a a newer one.

I see all the nice new cars parked in the high school parking lot every day. It's nice that so many disrespectful punk kids get handed something nicer to drive than what all the teachers drive. Oh, well. Honestly, I think most of them borrow Mommy or Daddy's car or are the child of a doctor who can afford to hand them everything.

Hopefully, my kids will take better care of their cars because they bought and built them on their own. You're not going to grow up to be responsible if you don't work hard for something and expect Mommy and Daddy to bail you out all the time.

Oh, my Dad lectured us on even allowing our child to have a vehicle because Dad didn't have one until after he had worked his way through college, lettered on the football team, got straight As, lettered on the baseball team, yadda yadda. He either walked or hitched a ride. Yeah, well, times were different back then, Daddy-O. LOL At least my kid has the opportunity to work and earn his own car.
IC - 30 hours week, $98K last year. So far this year - 28K. sm
Individual IC - own account(s).
Not me, owed last year, and expect to owe this year- sm
or break even, had more expenses this year. Only owed $200 but still don't want to owe at all. Need to start doing estimated tax payments again so I don't owe! Guess I will get off my butt and do that this year.
come on.. you cannot compare a 2-year-old and a 15-year-old
x
46/F I have a 9-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy.
.
Got $$$$ back last year but this year
I have to pay them, sold a property I never lived in but I had enough sense to set aside $45,000 so just waiting on them to send me my WT2s so I can get started.
because they are not as bad as they are made out to be sm
I would be willing to bet the majority of people posting negativity about MQ have been fired by them! I've been with MQ for over four years and am very, very happy. My check is always on time, sometimes early, I always have work, my coordinator is great, I can't say enough good about them. I would recommend you at least give MQ a chance. I admit, I was disappointed when they called me, but at the time, I just needed a job, so reluctantly I accepted their offer. Now four years later, I'm so glad I did. Everyone has their own opinion and experience about each company, and the same is with MQ. Not everyone will be happy there, but I certainly am. Good luck to ya!
made some changes...let's see

yes...you made my day..:-)
Thank you so much...works like a charm.
I have definitely made more
Plus, it saves on the hands and wrists. I never want to go back to straight typing. Still enjoy straight typing, and do about 70% VR editing and 30% typing. Love it.
You have just made me $$$
Yea!!!
I have to wonder if this is made up BUT if you are
be appreciative of the opportunity to become a superior MT by the QA guidance. If you allow yourself to fall into that pit of self destructiveness by playing 4th grade _the teacher hates me/likes me more than you_ routine, you only do yourself harm. Ask yourself...by having the information that someone is _getting away_ with something you can't, how can you _win_? You win by your superior skills. You learn and you thrive and if you need to, you move on. In the meantime, you learn things that you should have taught yourself as the proper way to transcribe 15+ years ago.

Someone who has been around for 20+ years and this was standard back then for quality MTing.
5 yrs ago, I made as low as $26 K, as hi as

Thank you. This just made my day.

probably made her day! (nm)

But maybe if she made that $500
AND talked to her mortgage lender....offered the $500....then maybe they would be more likely to work with her. It was a suggestion, and a fine one. Lets just help the girl out. OK!
There are several. Most of them are made by
Infinity, but can be wired to work with various systems, so just because it is Infinity doesn't mean it will work with one particular system.  If you don't already have a job that requires a pedal I would wait until you do.  Some pedals are configured to work with proprietary software and are only good for one program.   Some companies require serial port pedals, some game port, and some USB.  You can get adapters to switch them, though they aren't always easy to find.
Made changes
Yes, I have made the changes you outlined. Unfortunately, stuff like wthi and placentia have gone right on through. I work with Instant Text and the Expander will not run at the same time as Instant Text. Even if I turn the expander on, the first time I use the IT, the expander shuts off. Thanks for the suggestions!
MADE IN THE USA
One more thing - does naybody else rememebr those commercials - made in the USA, and "buy American" - I do, instead of outsourcing lets bring back the USA pride, If I could I would use USA instaed of my initials on documents I transcribe.
Sorry I am in a bit of a tizzy about outsourcing - just ranting, but mean every work of it
YES!! I made $15/hr at my first MT job...
and that was with excellent benefits back in 2001. I live in the midwest where the cost of living is very reasonable too. So, $12/hr for an experienced MT is awful! I only had experience as a medical assistant before becoming an MT and made more than that.
I used to do this but made more as MT. Now I also

LOL, you made my day. nm

You just made my day:) sm
You don't know how much I personally appreciate hearing you say that. So many people (even family) think that all I do is sit home in my jammies and straight "type." It's good to see someone who has an appreciation for how indepth the MT field actually is. You are awesome for making my day!
THANK YOU! You made my day nm

Most of us know by now that it's mostly made up.

yep, that made my day. NM
Thank you!
