Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

I might also add that there are some MTs ...

who are very clever at this little game of making money -- this is one of my favorites that I've seen done with our outside service as well - again, pointed out to supervisors, but alas, nothing was done ...

what the MT does is let's say for instance an H&P is dictated on a Monday. MT will transcribe report, maybe jot down a note of account number, MR#, all the info needed for right input, and save the report as well. Maybe on Tuesday or Wednesday, that same H&P, same patient, same EXACT report will show up again in the system, and that Transcriptionist just got paid for the same report twice, as well as the company.

It's difficult to catch this in a big medical facility because no one is really watching. And the floors generally throw out the copy of the report. So it never gets noticed. However, a few of us inhouse have caught it.

Again, thank goodness this service's contract ends soon! I think our sups are finally seeing what we've been telling them for quite awhile - and the bills have gotten quite large in the last year, with the same amount of work going out!!!
