In Reply to: Can I sue MT company? - ex-MQer

Once I saw how things were going at the first company I did apply for and got another job at a local MT company which so far is giving me enough to supplement my income, so we're not starving over here or anything. My main and primary beef is at what point do we as MTs, whether it be IC or employee, stop being victimized and acting like we're helpless? This isn't the military where recruiters can say anything/everything to get a recruit to sign. (You can't sue the military when recruiters lie.)

But This is suppose to be a business. It's suppose to be professionally run by people who adhere to certain standards of practice, even if for no other reason than to not be sued. They shouldn't be allowed to say outlandish lies with no accountability.

It makes perfect sense that if there is no work to be done, they can't send any work. Makes perfect sense, except that Oh Yeah-They Still Hired Me To Work Full Time on an account that clearly didn't need a full-time worker and at this point the real reason for it doesn't even matter, such as overhiring/sent overseas whatever. I've essentially wasted my time and money (using my own equipment and pay my own internet), Plus I could have just as easily gotten a job with another company but I chose this one because they offered more money.

If I had to quit this company tomorrow I could (and I'm thinking about it) but why should I have to? Why should I have to go job hunting, yet again, to supplement this job? I fulfilled my end of the bargain! It just really REALLY annoys me that they will continue to do this over and over again to all their MTs.

And why Should they change their policy, if no one does or says anything about it?
