I stand corrected. Sorry, did not mean to say gross. Rather, 65 cpl with spaces, headers, footers.

Want to get paid for headers, footers and spaces?

Just in a silly mood....

11 cpl, 65 line w/spaces. No headers/footers except
nm
11-1/2 cpl, 65 ccl, all spaces, headers, footers, etc. NE part of country. nm

Maybe if it is gross lines, lots of headers and footers and normals......sm
Other than that, I really can't imagine it.
9 cpl, 65 characters per line, spaces, headers, footers included. employee status. nm

Offered a position paying 9 cents per 65 line without spaces with headers and footers.

Is this a good deal?

Gross lines and 12 hour days!!! I stand corrected, you weren't stretching the truth, you were...

misleading everyone.  The majority of MTSOs pay by a 65 character lines.  Paying for spaces or not paying for spaces is usually the only variant between companies.  You come on here and say that you tyhpe 3000 a line a day and leave it at that.  Don't say how many hours your work, how long your lines are, etc.  That is misleading!

I probably am typing 3000 gross lines a day in my eight hour day if I were coutning gross lines.  For fun, I think on my next work day, I'm going to jot down my gross line count in each document and add it up at the end of the day and compare it to my actual line count.  I'll let everyone know what the difference is.

Geez!  Really burns me up when people get on here at start spouting out nonsense as if it were fact and we should all be in awe of their skills and expertise!  For future reference, the truth lies in the details.  You can't just say you do 3000 lines a day and leave it at that.  Notice when I posted below how many lines a day I do, I added that I work a strictly 8 hour day and that my lines are 65 characters with spaces.

Give accurate and detailed information people, PLEASE!

headers and footers
I just read in the MPCount info that it does not count headers and footers. Is that a bad sign?
Not OP, but I get paid for headers and footers.

And most often headers, footers, & copies are not
s
most companies don't pay for headers, footers, cc. (nm)

Usually it's the software not counting headers/footers, or any of the
s
headers, footers, word count
I am an newbie IC and just started a new Dr. when I realized that MS word does not count headers and footers with word count.  Any way you can include headers/footers in the word count or do you have to count it all separately and then add them together?
I would say that if you are typing headers and footers for free, i.e. not getting paid for them,
:[
Headers and Footers can carry on to the rest of the pages.
,
Not included. Demos and ccs are headers/footers. Not counted. nm
x
Oh absolutely! I would get 9 or 10 lines of headers and footers per report on Cottage. sm
So, if you do the math, if I typed 25 reports that day, that makes a total of 250 LINES I no longer get paid for! I truly believe DQS is just a sneaky, smart way that MQ has come up with in order to squeeze line counts and money from under us. Think about it. It is!!! No doubt in my mind, ladies!!

I want to quit to freakin bad this DQS crap! I am making so much more LESS money on DQS it isn't even funny. We should really smarten up about this program.

Also, how about the way you have to look up cc's and addressess and then put it into that stupid ADT field and then you DON'T GET PAID FOR IT!! MAKES ME SICK!

Okay. Done ranting and raving for the day! Let me go look for another job right now.
:(
could be short reports and getting paid for headers/footers in a 10-hour day.
nm
I tried Slycount and it didnt count the text in headers and footers
I tried Slycount and it didn't count the text in headers and footers after the 1st page. Apparently its a problem with upgraded versions of MS word 2003 and there isn't a fix yet for this problem. If you don't use headers and footers than its a good program. I currently use Spellex AccuCount and its great :). I believe they have a free trial on there website. I Hope this helps :)
Is it customary to count headers/footers in this business when doing line counts? Thanks. nm

I stand corrected........................ think
maybe that's one of the AAMT adjustments?
I stand corrected

I stand corrected.

I stand (or sit) corrected! :)

I stand corrected
Thank you, nm, for your reply to my computer question.
I stand corrected!
Copied and pasted your search string. Had no idea you could get Word separately, especially the 2007 version.

Thank you posting that!

Maybe you would know this then:
Is there a reader you can download to Vista to view MS Word documents if you don't have MS Word installed?

I stand rightfully corrected. NM

Thanks, stand corrected, I get carried away sometimes.
nm
well, I stand corrected, he's a pretty tough guy to please.

Well then I stand corrected:) Learn something new everyday. lol

Ok. I stand corrected...may be overly sensitive..sm
I work for two places, one full time as IC and one part time as IC. Full time is small service with approximately 14 MTs. I get paid by the gross line at .067 cpl, typed in courier new 12. I have worked there for three years. Part time IC job is .08 cpl at 55 characters, typed in TNR 12. I consider both of these to be low paying, after reading some of the others, but they pay the bills. I guess.
I get 10 cpl, spaces, headers, etc. as an employee. Sure ICs will get
offered more because you have to pay your own taxes and there are no benefits.  9 cpl isn't that good for an IC though.  It might be for a clinic count because they are more hum-drum accounts where you have the same doctors and can make lots of normals so you can get more lines, but if you are doing acute care it isn't a very good rate.  A good rate with mostly good dictators is hard to find these days.
depends if includes headers, spaces, one or the other, character line, etc.
nm
need more info - what kind of transcription, geographic, charge for spaces, headers
etc.
Gross line count without spaces?
I've been corresponding with an MTSO, and she tells me that she pays gross line without spaces.  Is there such a thing?  I have both Abacus and MPCount, and neither of those programs has an option to count gross lines without spaces.  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks!
Need to count gross lines only w/o spaces, sm
Used Sylcount free download but it expired.  Any alternatives.  Did not like Practicount.  Need to count gross lines only.  How do I do that using MS Word?
I was referring to gross 65 character per line with spaces, sm
but again, it was very grueling, but possible. Granted, I had no life besides the keyboard.
Two companies, both 65 char lines including spaces, one pays 0.10/l and the other 8.5/gross line. n
x
Yes if gross line or 65 character line with spaces....Good Deal!!! nm
x
What is a 55 char gross line compared to a 65-char line including spaces?
t
My line including spaces is 65 characters. I've heard that not counting spaces
takes away over 35% of your line count. I believe it too because you have at least 15 or so spaces on each line that you type. Use your first sentence up top as an example; you had 77 char and 21 spaces - in that line that would be a little less than 30% of your characters that you didn't get paid for. I don't think it's worth it and wouldn't want to work without getting credit for my spaces.
i think it is incredibly gross. personal hygiene commercials are just gross anyway.
this one is stupid and gross.
They used to not pay for spaces, but a poster here said they are getting spaces paid. Are there 2
s
I think I worked there! LOL Except they used to fax the corrected
reports back to me, which I couldn't read because the faxed copies were illegible. I wasn't provided with any account guides or samples either. Their rules and style made no sense whatsoever and went against everything I ever learned in high school, college and my transcription career. I wound up leaving them very soon after starting. I don't know which is worse, no feedback at all or nitpicking.

It's up to you if you're going to stay and put up with it or not. Plenty of places are hiring right now.
oh yes, I always spellcheck anyway, even if I have already corrected something. nm

Simon has corrected himself in the past. sm
Actually, I have heard Simon say in past seasons that after watching the playback it was not as bad as his review, which is, of course, what he did with Katherine.
