I think it has something to do

with the time of year. I'm still working casual at a local hospital doing RT work and it's just been hit and miss all summer. Our census has been extremely low due to NO ADMISSIONS. Maybe that's a good thing for some as they're feeling good and not so sick this season, but for MT's and other healthcare workers, it's been hard on wallet.  Healthcare has always been a "feast or famine" business, so I guess it's nothing new.  I'm sure come winter, the census counts will be back up and we'll all be pulling our hair out due to work overload.
