I'd read here (I thought) about herbal antidepressants including 5-HTP and something else, but I can't find where I saw this.  If anyone can be of help, I'd sure appreciate it.  Thanks.

Is it just me or is the archive search here almost useless? Every time I look for something, even my own past posts, I get terrible results.
Do an archive search - good info posted a few weeks ago.
nm
I can't ever get the archive to find what I know I'm looking for, so here goes:
Awhile ago someone came on here offering tips and tricks for MT.  I e-mailed that person asking for them, never got an response.  Later it was asked on her and someone said "after the first of the year."  Recently it was asked again, but I can't find it.  Has anyone heard from "longtime mt" or was she just pulling our legs.  Maybe she could see this and let us all know what's going on or if it was just a hoax.
There was a post here awhile back about sm

someone using a heated keyboard -- that might help.  I have used the typing gloves before when my hands/wrists were flaring up, but I generally found they slowed me down a bit.  However, if your fingers and hands are cold and stiff, that slows you down too, so it might be worth it.  Hand-Eze is the only brand name I can think of, but I am sure there are lots of others to choose from.  You can usually find them at places that sell craft supplies, maybe a little less expensive than the sites on the web.  Good luck.

That would be his mug shot when he was arrested quite awhile back..nm
;o)
Awhile back on this board someone shared a place where
they would tell you what hardware your computer was running.  I can't find it and need it again.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.
I worked at Home Depot awhile back
for 3 years in the paint department. I have done them all and also taught the classes on Sundays. You might want to call your local Home Depot and ask when they have their paint classes. Lots of information, and they should let you try out the techniques as well.
whoever posted awhile back about Tahiti Sweetie -thank you!
My 18 yo daughter and I went to Bath & Body Works - I bought one for her and one for me - what a treat !  Yum !
Yes, I bought a dozen or so awhile back and over half did that....sm
I have always used Maxell but that batch was really bad.   I was wondering if they had been on the shelf too long.   I went ahead and bought 12 more (different place) and so far these have been OK.
Awhile back there was a job posting for a typist to do closed-captioning TV show transcrips...sm

does anyone know the name of that company?  Any information would be appreciated.

Did a search and cannot find - can someone

repost the link to someone I can contact about housing some of the pets from Katrina?  TIA

I just use the * in the template and do the search + find with alt+f.

Can't find anything on a net search. Is there an ad up? New companies

Search myself?? Thought that was what word boards are for!

WRONG! lol

Imagine that! Searching Google or where ever and taking a moment longer to click into a link or 2 and do a bit of research to make certain the site is reputable and the information correct.

What an original concept.

I've always felt that blurting out an answer (whether right or wrong, but hopefully right) without offering up some search tips only hurts the questioning MT in the long run.

Not long ago, this here word board was offline for some time. Where did folks find the answers then?

On top of everything else we need to know as MTs, we also need to be self-reliant and have excellent research skills. You don't get that way from being given the answer on a word board. It comes from reading, reasearching and attempting to understand what you are transcribing.

Don't get me wrong, we all need help on occasion, but for the most part, I know I can do my job, and those that give the answers can do their jobs, but the ones always asking the questions...can they make it in this field without word board help?

My vote is for teaching them how to research on their own.

That's my 2 cents on this issue.

You could use your internet search engines to find
"grand rapids, MI, jobs" and get lots of hits. I'd also check monsterjobs.com for your area, and your state Dept. of Labor should also have a site where you could find jobs in your area. If you are unsure about the search engines, try google.com. It's a great tool for finding anything you could possibly want. God bless.
do a search in your area ... I was surprised to find out - sm
that in NYC, transcriptionists were getting less PER LINE than in upstate NY ... way upstate NY. At one point NYC transcriptionists were getting upwards of $0.15/line, while in other parts of the state --- the cheap part of the state, the transcriptionists were charging $0.18/line. But keep in mind that doctors will always be looking for something cheaper. So find out what others are charging in your area.
I am so frazzled I can't even find a Search window! sm
This is my first day on Edit Script and my mind has short circuited! I tried to find the Search window to no avail. Can you give me a hint??
I just use the * and the search and find feature; seems much faster than macros to me. nm

Hi, Lucinda. If you search on editing, you'll find SM
a lot of discussion since so many of us share your situation. Lots of people here have been editing for some time and should be able to offer answers to any questions you have afterward.
Does anyone find the search feature on this board doesn't work right?
I can't ever seem to find the old posts that I know are there by using the search feature.  Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

If you so a search on this board you'll find lots of info.

Basically, you've got it right. However, voice files can be large and email may reject large file attachments. Also, there's the security aspect that you didn't mention. Basically, the voice file and finished document need to be encrypted to be secure.

You said you don't have the time/didn't take the time to do the research. Lots of people have and have shared their findings time and again on this board. I, for one, am not willing to reinvent the wheel every time someone is looking for this information but doesn't want to take the time to do the legwork. No offense meant but please do take the time to educate yourself. If you really don't have the time or don't want to take that time, then be prepared to pay for that information in the form of a consultant.

Instant Text. Do a search here for IT and you'll find lots of info.

If you search the posts, I think the Company board, you will find that the monies paid to AAMT

for CMT/RMT cerifications are being used to offer "India" rates to workers in India to test for their CMT/RMT cerifications. I REFUSE TO BELONG TO SAID ORGANIZATION AND I WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE MY HARD-EARNED FUNDS TO HELPING INDIANS GET CREDENTIALED.

Some rates were posted a few pages back. Search the Google

I have thought about going back out but sm
where I live the jobs are not plentiful. What I don't understand is the mentality of these companies.

For instance, my company has me on a clinic account. Here are over 1800 reports sitting in the cue. You can't get anything done for having to write so much crap down, switch screens, etc. etc etc. If it were a normal platform where you could just sit down and bang out the reports, Icould probably put out between 150 and 200 of these reports a day. Plus they give free rein for people to pick reports and MTs are not going by date, they are picking out good dictators and leaving the crap. This is one bad way to run a company.

I finally just forget it I quit. When you work two hours and do something like 10 1 minute reports because of all the crap its time to get out.

Suppose to start another job on Monday doing OP reports only on a platform that you don't have to do anything to. This is with a company that I checked out and talked personally to 5 different MTs about. I think if this doesn't work I am getting out of the biz and doing something else. I don't have to do this anymore and I feel bad for the ones that do because I have been there before.

These companies are "shooting of their own foot" messing with all this baloney.
ever thought about going back to school?
I stay focused because i'm in school now and i'm working towards something.  I'm just as scared in regards to job security, i'm the only earner.  I'm not getting anywhere in this industry, I still live in an apartment.  I am afraid to buy a house because i'm not sure where this company is heading.
Thanks! do you archive onto a CD or what do you do?

A good MT is hard to find. Check back with those 2 companies

me too - once in awhile
But I really like this board much better.
We had them for awhile - sm

It was a high-deductible ($5,000) "emergency" policy that never did pay out a dime on any of our claims - after one trip to the emergency room to the tune of $1,200 we decided that was not the best form of health insurance for our family.  We are now with Humana with a more realistic $1,000 deductible.

this has been around for awhile - sm
A lot of states will not allow this. New York is one of them. Some of the ones I work on require me to save all tapes in case there is a descrepancy in what was transcribed and what was said.
i did that awhile
but one machine belonged to the company and i didn't want that conflict, so i had the tech install DQS on my personal machine for the 2nd company; he was able to copy my Expanders which helped tremendously. Of note however, i would have never thought it possible, but when i finally went with a company that had a different platform, they were STILL able to convert my DQS expanders to their own...so don't feel locked into one company because of time invested in expanders!
I would keep the IC job for awhile
I would keep the IC job for awhile, because who knows for sure how this "highly respected national" will work out? You could find you hate some aspect of it.
Oh believe me I'm gone, but there were - for awhile - sm
other good things about the company. In the last couple of months, however, there are some things that have happened that now make every little thing a PIA and I'm done. I just want my money without having to wait out till the next paycheck, especially since I will be quitting on the spot. You don't have to berate me - I've been doing that to myself all along! But, with the way the MT field is these days, a job is a job and it was consistent without work slowdown or stoppage.
Yes, once in awhile
I somehow get it into OVR. Thank goodness I know what has happened. And thank God for ctrl+z, because I have accidentally deleted stuff I needed many times! (You can use CTRL+Y to take it away again too!)

Looks like I am using all the quick keys you do ... any others used out there? Thanks!
Been away for awhile but VR-MT
said it all. I also average over $20+ an hour. I really love it because as the above stated, the ESLs are picked up easily and I don’t have to strain my ears because VR gets most of what they are saying.
here's what we did -takes awhile, but
if you have a video camera, tape every car that stops at his place and any transactions you might see (you do not have to be outside to do this - through a crack in the curtains/blinds works) take the tape to the cops - they will handle it. Or maybe they already have him set up on a sting....or are on the take. Where do you live city/state-wise?

HELP PLEASE !!!  I can never get this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I was on PeaceHealth for awhile SM

For the most part, it was a very easy account.  There were a few dictators from you know where (like anywhere).  Just ask for several samples from each of those docs.  If you call the people working in the evenings, they were always very helpful when I needed a sample and would fax it on over.  The QA ladies are really great and very helpful, so do not by shy about asking them questions.  They know those few dictators are horrible and know most people have a terrible time with them.  I think you'll like the account.  If you go to the PeaceHealth website that have a really great physician directory.

Good luck to you!

It's been awhile, but can the help file or
associated paperwork with the softwork help with basic and more complicated questions? I seem to remember that their customer support was pretty good, too.
I get one every once in awhile that sounds as if

he has a mouth full of thumb tacks.  If that isn't bad enough, his grammar is horrid.  He says "patient doesn't have no swelling."

Geesh.

It's be awhile since using my C-phone,
I think there is a memory chip that wears out after awhile. I had a C-phone but I had to reprogram every time I unplugged it and I think this is what I was told. Hope this helps....
I have been with them awhile now and they are great...

but have no idea what they have to offer newbies...just have patience and stay strong, you will find the right fit.

GOOD LUCK!

It takes awhile...
When I was facing foreclosure it took them over a year to send the vacate letter...I filed for bankruptcy and the bankruptcy was long over before I got the letter.
