What else do you like to cook in your crockpot?
I love a roast in the crockpot but what else is really good?
You have time to cook?
Not me. I work full time and have two small kids at home all day so it is impossible.  I wish I had time to cook though.  I just stock my freezer with frozen foods, and on some days my DH will pick up something on his way home from work.
Next time cook it in the oven wrapped in foil. sm

This recipe is from pre-crockpot era.

Double wrap the roast in foil.  Poke holes in the foil with a fork and put the roast with the poked holes side down on the broiler pan.  Bake at 350 according to the size of the roast per pound.  Very yummy and very easy. Pan drippings make the best gravy.

Cook in equal parts BBQ and grape jelly. Crock pot if time. Yum! nm

I notice today, the same thing is happening

to me. I log on and EVERY SINGLE piece of dictation is ESL.  The account I'm on, only has a handful of ESL dictators and so I don't usually mind when they're scattered amongst the rest, even though all but 1 of them completely sucks. Then I get on today and here every single one of them is in the system, all having dictated numerous reports and NONE of them are done.  No American dictators whatsoever. Like that's not totally obvious? I was so livid when I got on I was seconds away from sending an email to my supervisor. I thought better and just did a handful, then logged off and took a nice LONG break and went bowling with the family.  When I got back on tonight, a lot of them were gone, but still, there are more than 15 left (goes to show you how many there were to begin with). So much for getting any kind of decent line count today.  Thanks for listening.

I thought the same thing
Stating that they should be 18 or even 21 to drive but then is letting her 14-1/2 yo drive. WHAT???????
I thought the same thing ...
I see no problem in it. I agree with your thinking!!! I might even try a pair too. :)
One thing that I thought was...
As an IC, it is actually better to work for more than one company.  As an IC, your income should come from multiple sources.  I don't know how others do it, but myself I am an IC, but I work for 2 companies plus have my own accounts.  My husband has extra taken out of his pay.  We do use an accountant/tax person, but fortunately he's a friend of the family and doesn't charge us an arm and a leg.  It's funny to me also that you mention freedom in the same sentence as full-time.  IC work is neither full-time nor part-time because it's actually a job by job basis just like a plumber or an electrican.  Just something to think about.
Yes, I thought the same thing -sm
Then one day guess what?  MTSO who had been providing me with an unheard of standard of living had up and sold her company without a word to anyone until the ink was dry.  They later turned around and sold it to someone else, who decided we were all making too much money and wanted to cut our line rates.  I left as I saw things unraveling in a big way.  They later dissolved what was left of the company and it is no more.  The point is, I sat fat and happy thinking I was set for years and out of the blue decisions were made I had no inkling of, so you just never know in this business...
I have often thought of the doing the same thing....sm
Thre is a similar place in a nearby town to me. I have given blood at the blood bank before, so that is not the part that concerns me. The part that concerns me is the possibility of picking up an infection or even HIV since the blood is run through a system that has run other blood and is returnd to my body. In blood donation, that does not happen and they use a completely new sharp and system each time. Am I being phobic about this?
Thanks. Thought same thing. sm
The OM is not computer savy. She is going to get her IT person to do this.
She is a fellow MT. I thought it was the right thing to do as many might know her. why?
x
Oh yeah. I thought the same thing...
unacceptable.  I have grandchildren who know better and act a whole lot more well-mannered at ages 3 and 4.  The docs were laughing and having a good time at making me sick.. I couldn't believe it either.
I thought the same thing!! Then was gonna
look up old posts, but realized I was right, and it also wasn't worth the effort! Great minds thinking alike again! Something way fishy going on with this whole story!
OMG I thought my day was bad you poor thing!
I CANNOT IMAGINE having a snake loose while sitting there trying to type. I wouldnt be able to concentrate. I had a spider jump in my hair once while I was typing and couldnt get it out! LOL It was horrible.
Today was the only time that
DocQscribe went down like that, so get over it. It was a pain, yes, but it is up and running now. Name one other time that this has happened. If it takes you 5 hours to do your nails, then you must have some pretty nasty, funky thick nails.
Hey, I thought the same thing about the spelling police.
Petty, and no, that's not the word the OP was referring to.
Hahaha! I thought the same thing. He's defintely NOT an MT that's for sure! n/m

If you would take the time you have spent here today

and work on building your expander, macros, etc. you could get your line count up faster.  Don't know if you have a line per day committment or hourly committment, but if you have lines you can get them finished quicker with a better expander and have more time to play or do whatever.  I am NOT a morning person, but I feel so much better when I do make myself get up and then by 9:00 I've made my line committment and I've got the rest of the day to do what I want/need to do and if I need more lines I can work an hour or two after dinner.   I almost feel like I have a 3-day weekend because I'm finished so early that on Friday I'm done early, my DH has an early day at work and is home by 10 usually so we have an almost full day to play.

Reassess your situation.  What were your reasons for coming home to work?  If you didn't have to work at all, would you spend all day sitting in front of the TV watching all that mindless garbage and letting the housework go?  Maybe you're burned out or depressed.  Maybe you just lack self-discipline as somewhat else suggested and you really need structure.

Just some things to think about.  Working at home isn't the fairly tale that most people think it is.

Needed this big-time today...thank you! :)

Oh, I thought it was an automatic thing on computers these days.
Maybe my hubby set ours up to do it; I'm not sure. It would be under START, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS, then choose SYSTEM RESTORE.

Then it would ask you what date you want to restore to.
At the beginning, thought the whole thing had been a dream - thank goodness it wasn't.
nm
That's what I thought too, but I was told the built in thing was compatible with my router. nm

Well, collectively it probably took 20 minutes of my time to post today.
My kids are out and about. I did all my work. I'm a good girl, you see! I don't really get your perceived "jab" at me at all.  Why do you think that because I am in favor of someone being an MT and keeping their precious baby at home as opposed to in day care, that somehow that means I say I spend every minute of my life focused on my kids? I really think when you respond like this, its because you are not confident in your own life - I won't delve deeper, but you feel guilty. Guilty enough to have to make fun of me and put imaginary words in my mouth.  I never said a whisper or innuendo that MT mothers with kids at home have to focus every second of their lives on their kids. That's ridiculous! We all know that!  And I assume you're the same poster above about camp? You use the same SM.  I am sorry to disappoint you that I don't understand your "revelation" about my identity! I never said a word here about camp, and don't follow that thought at all.  The OP asked if she could do it - be an MT and have a baby at home. I recognize another poster from below, childfree by choice. She and I have had some wonderful debates in the past, and I think we usually agree to disagree! But certainly nice meeting you, I think??
I thought the same thing. Justify the EXTRA MONEY they're keeping
You know full well if the foreign MT was the same price they'd quit looking there too. It's all about the money. Who's he fooling?
Anyone else working today? Am I the only lowly sole with nothing to do until dinner time?

I feel like I am the only on working today, as the Boscov's parade is on TV, my two teens are sleeping, my husband is working OT and here I am working also.  Gotta cover my account today, at least until this afternoon, when I have to cook for my little family.

Just wanted to see if anyone else is out there today!

I thought it was just me for the longest time
About 8 to 10 years ago, it was a piece of cake to make OVER 300 lines per hour after doing a bunch of doctors I'd gotten used to over a few weeks/months (depending on the difficulty of the docs).

For the past 2+ years, no matter where I work (and I've worked for a few), I'm finding that it's been a struggle to reach 200 lines (let along over 300!) an hour ... and I'm noticing that on message boards nowadays, it's considered average to transcribe 150-175 lines an hour (?).... Wow. Just wow. Didn't that used to be considered "newbie" range? Or am I mistaken?

Even when I mention to potential employers/MTSOs that my goal is to reach at least 300 lines per hour, they always sound taken aback or have a hesitancy in their voices as far as that being even a possibility!

I'm making 20% to 30% less than I did as a newbie 15 years ago. Now I know I'm getting older and perhaps slowing down, but I've been noticing line counts diminishing with using these proprietary programs these companies use for quite a while now.

I agree with hayseed and the OP of this thread.
I am not feeling well today so pardon if I am making mistakes. I just think that it is time to stop
defending the illegal activities of this company. I know I defended them for many years.
Fill in the blank time! Today I feel ______ (for me it's good)...sm
Good work day so far, kids will be home from school in a couple of hours and the weather is nice outside.

Have you thought about putting her in daycare only part time?
I don't know if you are able to set your own hours or not, but if you can put her in daycare for 4 or so hours a day and then work before she gets up in the morning and/or after she goes to bed at night that might be a viable option. She would get the benefit of socialization in daycare, you would get some solid, uninterrupted work time and you would still get to spend a good part of the day with her. Just a thought. When my daughter was 18 months old I began working part-time in the outside world and I truly felt I had the best of both worlds, because she really enjoyed daycare and got to socialize, and I enjoyed my time being productive away from the house and I didn't feel like I was away from her for too long. Best wishes to you and your family!
nevermind. I found it, I thought the date/time
button was for actual date and time, not the settings of the footpedal to rewind, play and fastforward. The achives of MTstars helped me figure that out!
one thing at a time

FACT:  VR works if "all of the tumblers click." But most importantly - the correct sound card and microphone, you dictate correctly (you cannot dictate in the same manner that you talk to someone), and you take the time to correct errors (that could be as they occur or at the end of the day). Remove one ... and you're going to have problems.

>>>And obviously you don't work for Transcend or MDI-FL where not only is the VR platform crap, but the accounts are difficult accounts AND our Expander program still doesn't allow macros.

That was never mentioned in the original message.

>>>If you're making money, you must not have made that much before VR.

Depends upon your definition of "that much."

>>>I was making over 9 cpl on straight typing at 400-450 lph on an account all ER and OPs.

I currently work on four to five different accounts, all acute care with a wide variety of dictator (maybe 100 or so). ST and IT will not work for me. I've been using Word w/ AutoCorrect all along. I don't know squat about macros and templates. With that ... depending upon the dictator, I average 275 to 325 lph.

>>>There is no way possible to produce 900 lph to just break even to what I was making let alone to MAKE money on VR.

Not true ... or was the $75+ I made in 1-1/2 hours my imagination?

>>>You may be using your macros in VR and doing the same thing you did while straight typing, but you're making less money doing it.

I never said I use macros in VR. In fact, I don't. Everything is straight dictation for me.

>>>I don't care what company you're working for, they aren't paying you the same rate for editing VR as they did for straight typing, and there is NO WAY you're producing over 900 lph, so my statement stands about high producers not making money.  The only point you made is that you had to be a mediocre producer to be making money, otherwise you'd just be breaking even.

Excuse you?

1.  VR is not for everyone. I have said that many times. But it's a real life saver when you have physical ailments that slow down your production (I had a busted finger and was casted for a month). You ever type with two fingers casted together?
2.  VR works for people who are willing to do what is necessary to make the product work correctly. And from what I've read "around town," most are not.
3.  *I* can produce more lines per hour using VR, without the macro and template features, than I can typing in Word with AutoCorrect. I don't have a good memory, and that won't change. So why would I type? Very simple ... to keep my hands limber.

If you are kicking out 400-450 lph on the keyboard, however you do it, then keep right on doing what you're doing. And I'll do the same thing.

One thing at at time
Try focusing on the here and now. Sometimes thinking about EVERYTHING is just too much. If you stay focused on whatever you are doing right now, such as dishes, watching a movie, transcribing, the time will pass and you will get through this. One day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time.
And all this time I thought the bottom line was patient care. nm
nm
How astute to check the turnover time, hadn't thought
of that. But, you're right, no way that's a coincidence, and your surety on this is confirmation. I'm sorry for you--that's a huge decrease in your lines. Good luck in your search for something better.
I did try the Belkin and I thought it was working but the first time I let up on my foot pedal
it just stopped and froze up my computer. I tried all of the COM ports I could think of. Today, I ordered the Dynex adapter which is the other adapter that Escription recommends and I'm going to try that. I am not giving up. I do hope that in version 8 of Editscript that really do make the foot pedals USB and get into this century. It's almost impossible to find new computers that have the serial ports on them anymore. I will update you on this Dynex adapter when I try it out now. So, for the time being, I am packing along my little portable computer when I travel. It's pretty small but it's just having to bubble wrap the flat monitor that is a pain. At least, I get to work and play. It'd just be nice if I could take my laptop instead..
on my magic stove.
:+
I have a Magic stove too...
that is the actual name on the stove. LOL! Some people take thing way to seriously on this board.
I Love My Stove
And would never by one with the other type of burners. I have also had the problems with water spilling over when I boil it on the stove, but just as the other person above said, I have move luck with it coming off if I let the cleaner sit a little while. I wouldn't worry too much about it, though. If the owners have a similar stove, I'm sure the same has happened to them.
Glass top stove
Have used these since the 70s. Be careful what type of pots you use on these. Never use any pots except the ones that are all metal underneath. The finish can come off the pretty red and blue pots and burn onto the stove. Check the bottom of your pots before you use them. If they have food embedded into the bottom, sometimes this will burn right onto the stove. Use the cleaner for a glass top stove. You can let is soak on the spots with a damp cloth on top of it and then go back and rub some of the soil off, but you have to keep repeating this until gone. The razor is okay under certain circumstances. Someone one stuck a contact paper onto one of mine inadvertently, not realizing the burner was on. Luckily for me I had the razor handy and got at it right away, while the burner was HOT. There's a lot of little tricks to keeping these nice. However, I did have one, a GE smooth-top free-standing range where the finish did actually chip off, which turned out to be a warranty problem. If the stove is new, maybe there's a warranty on it? Good luck. Try to relax and don't drive yourself wacko over it.
Yes, we just put in a wood stove and turned off
the furnace out in the shop. We know of a guy who gives away free scrap wood, so we're heating the shop for free this year. That'll save quite a chunk of change. I wish we hadn't taken the wood stove out of the house, but it would have cost too much to bring it up to code. Other than that, put on more clothes, extra blankets on the beds, and turn the heat down.
I think it's the stupidest thing on TV in a long time.
x
That's why I asked if it was a one-time thing or a pattern
A one-time slip-up is bad enough, but some people have a "serial cheating" personality that is unacceptable and definitely a deal-breaker.
The hard time was the past thing.
Hi, I have just joined Spheris Hyderabad. Two months for settling down is what they give you and after that it is your regular type-type-type. There are nooooooooo problems with this new Spheris Clarity (R) platform. With this, things are just moving smooooooooothly.
Stove Top Dressing Meat loaf
with home made smashed potatoes, gravy and brussel sprouts....tomorrow night, sketti and meatballs, made with the extra Stove Top mixture.
Well you should know a magic stove removes ALL the bad stuff.

Are you talking about putting a wood burning stove outside or one of
those furnance box things that you burn wood in and vent it to heat the house?  If you are asking about the latter we don't have one, but have looked into it.  They are about $5,000.00, but other than that I don't know anything about them.
No need. Bad stuff cooks away on my magic stove. Can't you read???

Some people like to keep a Time Clock thing showing on their monitors, too. But
