I threw out the ice cube trays. sm

In Reply to: What chores around the house does everybody have "blindness" for?? - SM

I posted this advice a few months ago.  I got sooooooooo tired of going to get ice and finding empty trays in the freezer and some in the sink.  So I just threw them out.

About 2 days later, the kids (and hubby) are like, "How come we don't have any ice? And where are the ice cube trays"  My reply was, "I THREW the ice cube trays away because we NEVER have had any ice and we NEVER will. At least this way I KNOW that when I want some ice for my soda, there will not be any ice in my house EVER AGAIN!"  :)

They all thought I was crazy.

I also put the trash can out in the garage and I hang up a plastic grocery bag on the door handle of the garage door until it is full enough to tie up and go out in the trash can.  Otherwise, I get the "TOSS" with spilled stuff everywhere,  and the "PYRAMID" and have to get out the trash bags to clean the stuff up.

I shined my house spotless one day and then spent a couple of weeks cleaning just my own stuff.  Washed my own dishes, cleaned my own spills, picked up my own clothes, did my own laundry (including towels that I hid for myself) cleaned my "toothpaste overflow" out of the bathroom sink, etc. (of course I cleaned the toilet and washed the floors, because that is just to icky).

At any rate, after the first day, they were washing dishes on "as per needed" basis.  After about 3 days, everyone was like, "Why is the house such a mess?"

I said, as I walked over shoes that didn't make it into the "shoe basket" by the door, and totally ignored the "clutter" everywhere: "GEE I don't know, I clean up after myself well enough."

They got the hint.  Things aren't immaculate, but much better.

Ice cube trays are plastic. Besides, my pitstick's gonna
give me breast cancer and Alzheimers before the frozen plastic gives me cancer.
is there a symbol for cube..not cubic, but cube..sm

But everyone had ash trays on their desk :)

The cafeteria was a blue haze of cigarette smoke too even though the smokers could smoke at their desks.

The nonsmokers had to go outside to breathe during lunch instead of the smokers going out to smoke.

Now THAT is a change for the better.

Keyboard Trays...sm
Has anyone purchased a keyboard tray to improve ergonomics and did it work?  Getting some aches and pains and wanting to improve my workstation....any thoughts in general on this...  Many thanks....   :)
keyboard trays
I have a tray that is part of the desk but I think you can buy trays that can clip on, or otherwise attach. It is much more comfortable for me to use a tray. I was on vacation and my sister has a plastic one that is not flat, but the keyboard sits in it. My wrists were always resting on the hard plastic ege, which was uncomfortable.

What works best for me is a flat, sturdy tray and an ergonomic keyboard.

Hope this helps.
They have mouse trays you can add onto your

keyboard tray.  Depending on how much room you have might have to figure something else out.  I'm right handed, but  I have drawers down the right side of my desk so I would have to use the mouse with my left hand.

When I use the pillow though I can use the mouse on the right because then I have room on my keyboard tray.

Keyboard trays and pedal placement

If anyone is using a keyboard tray, where did you get it and what type is it?

And, using the foot pedal when reclined has always confounded me.  I've heard of people typing reclined for years now, and have always scratched my head about how to use the foot pedal in this position.  I get up often when typing but still at the end of the day have swollen ankles/tight calves.  I have chronic fatigue syndrome so salt is one of my staples as this helps.

I hope this post keeps going for a while and more people share their tips and techniques.

Thanks to those of you who have already shared!  I'll be trying to type with my keyboard in my lap this weekend.

Maybe they just threw everyone off
and no one else to post. BTDT.
Dang!! I Just Threw One Away!!
I just had mine croak a couple of months ago and threw it away. I never thought about keeping it to use for spare parts. I had a heck of a time finding one just like it. I finally ended up ordering it from Amazon because the ones at Staples are the newer model with the humongous wrist wrests.

So sorry. I hope you get it up and running again. I absolutely love mine.

What do you think threw you, changes in puncuation, etc. according to BOS??nm
n
She just threw that out there to shut us up, I think
She posts here quite frequently, mostly to whine about her husband, stepson, MIL,and everything else. I don't believe she's really an intentional troll at all, just a complete moron who was trying to dig her way out of the sh*tstorm she started with this gem of a post.
same thing happened to me; i threw a fit with them. sm
i ended up getting my 4th installation under my initial purchase registration # but they did inform me if it happens again, i will have to purchase.  i refuse to although my company requires it.  i haven't ran into needing it again but i am sure i will eventually.  you can buy the (whatever that external USB thing is called) which allows unlimited installs, but not after your initial purchase and i, like you, was not informed about all that as my company purchased for me and withheld from my pay.  win XP does a similar thing and only limits the installs on the software.  i think they both are a bunch of BS.  i pay for it, i deserve to do what i want with it.  can't help my hard drive crashed, etc.
Guess the MQMT threw me off
SORRY
I was in the same boat until I threw a $ amount at him.

Then he said, "What are you talking to me for? Get back to work!"

hears to ears through to threw
Sorry no wonder you are so down on being a Transcriptionist as it is evident you have problems spelling.
What threw me is that they knew my last name and it is not in my e-mail address.

Yes! The "blue link" thing threw me, too,
Poster above explained the pulling number deal, but still not clear if that is for sure what it means. Oh well! Guess I'll just have to go buy myself something cool for MT Week. Master Card and Visa don't care if I'm a rocket scientist or not! :D
I went into this without prejudice, threw myelf actually, but it seems to get worse...
instead of better. I feel I got a pay cut with almost the same amount of work. Some jobs are great, then you get 3-4 that are heavy in editing and it ruins anything you got with a good 1 or 2.
Kind of ashamed to admit I threw daughter's card away
I know some will call me petty. We haven't ever had the best relationship because she has been a difficult kid since grade school. Just really, really hard to deal with and nasty much of the time. I keep trying and trying and trying and trying. I help her out financially when I can, watch the baby every day while I'm trying to work, too.  I had tears picking out a card for her, and I put some money in there with a little note to treat herself. Yes, I took the money out and tossed the card. I know it sounds harsh, but I feel like I keep putting forth the effort and barely get a thank you in return. Instead, I get a "what's your problem?" Now my son..I can deal with. At least he treats me with some kindness and he tries.
I think it depends where you live. My parents threw a huge party sm
for me when I graduated with about 150 people. The gifts weren't in the $100 range but it was 23 years ago. I received over $5000 in gifts and that was used to help buy the things I needed to go away to college such as bed linens, dorm furnishings, etc. The rest was used over the 4 years to subsidize when I needed extra for something. Yes, my parents paid for college, to the tune of $25k per year. They were happy to do it and proud when I graduated with honors and got a good job afterwards.

I'm going to do the same for my 2 kids that my parents did for my sister and I. There is nothing wrong with working hard to give your kids the best in life and nothing wrong with celebrating their milestones. If you don't agree with graduation parties, don't go to them, but if you don't celebrate your kids' milestones and make them special occasions, who will?

I threw my back out playing dodge ball in 2nd grade. nm

Or discpline time! My kids would be very sorry if they threw things at me or in the house. Two hours
is not too long for them to give you some space.  That's really sad for you, but maybe try to rein them in.  Can't hurt, right?
My 8-year-old threw up on the way home from family celebration Christmas Eve, all over the back seat

Then threw up approximately every hour from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Christmas morning.  Not the Christmas I had planned, up cleaning bodily fluids all night.  Somehow Santa managed to come overnight, too.  My husband, me and the 2-year-old didn't get the bug until last night, it's vicious!  Hopefully that's all over now and we can enjoy the rest of our vacation!
