I took their course...sm

I was disappointed.  First of all, they only train you in using dication tapes which I have found are pretty rare these days.  They taught me absolutely nothing about the dication over the phone or computer or however it is (see, I don't even know what to call it!)  They taught me absolutely nothing about the platforms used in the MTSO companies, etc.  Basically, it may have been a good course about 10 years ago!  They even tell you that you can use a typewriter for your tests and homework if you don't have a computer! (Does anybody even have one anymore???)

The other thing is, and I'm sure you've probably found out through your research, that most of the major companies don't hire MT's without a minimum of 2 years experience, not including school.  A lot of them require 5 or more years.  It took me about 6 months to find a job (I've read others have taken even longer) and let me tell you....it is soooooooo different from the training AHP gives!  I've been working now for 8 months and still find out new things all the time that should have been taught in school or during training at the job (they didn't do a very good job at training me either).  I think if I hadn't already been in the medical field for 10+ years (pharmacy and medical assisting) that I probably would be totally lost right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to discourage you from becoming an MT.  I personally love it.  I'm just trying to discourage you from using AHP.  From what I've read on here there are much better companies to get schooling from.  They just aren't one of them.  I believe I've read a million positive reviews about Andrews.  It was too late for me.  I didn't do any research before jumping into schooling.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
