I use BOS 2 and I won't go for 3 because I think that is a B of S if you know what I mean. I think the AAMT or AHDI or whatever they call themselves this week is FOS.
There really is no other style guide for MT out there. It is not like APA BOS or the AMA BOS or Strunk & White, it is an entity unto itself. SOMETHING has to have the last word and barring another option, I use it.
No, I didn't buy a copy. Years ago I worked for a place that had a PDF copy on their FTP and they let us keep a copy and I am still using that copy. I would never invest in one, however, because it helps to fund the organization and I will NOT do that.
If you have seen the third edition, you will see that compound modifiers and s' on things have been eliminated. Why? So that off shore MTs can manage it! NO THANK YOU.
