of people not being paid.  Not sure what benefits you are talking about, as they hire ICs only, or at least that was the practice in the past.

I left because of the unfair way they count lines.  They use Bayscribe, but do not count spaces.  They add in 15%, but it still ends up being a lot lower.  The accounts are easy -- clinic work, no ESLs -- but still I only did 150 lines per hour there, compared to 300-350 plus at MDI-MD.  Also, the QA person I dealt with was rather snippy and rude.  that coupled with the substantially lower pay rate (8-1/2 cpl, I think) -- why stay?  Fortunately, I did get paid, although when I left I did send Deb an email telling her about the rumors I had heard and that I did expect to be paid.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

I worked on this briefly and did not ...sm
like it. My Expander did not work with it and neither did my spellchecker. So I started copying and pasting reports from Word into Chartscript so I could use my expander and spellcheck. Well the client sent word that we are not to do that because it causes problems on their end somehow. I said to heck with this account. No longer work on it.
Has anyone here ever heard of, trained on, or worked on Emdat? Any information?
x
I heard they were not nice to work for. Knew people who have worked there and left.
This is secondhand information, but I trust the people that told me this.
briefly
I tried it, but it was much harder than they make it sound on the ads........ If in the market I'll sell you my system for $25 + S&H....... (paid over $100) if you don't mind the food prep I guess it is not too bad, but I was looking for something where I didn't have to follow a lot of recipes
Rumors
I take rumors with a grain of salt. Usually bad news travels faster than good news and complainers scream more loudly than those with good news.

All 3 of my contacts on hiring (recruiter, hiring coord., and production supervisor) told me I was hired on the new SE plan. It does state that for my region's office you have to maintain 98% quality but no where does it address any amount of reports to QA...just maintain 98% quality on QA reviews. Also, I have to type 1600 lines on weekends (in any combination).

The minimum lines for me as an SE is 6000 lines per payperiod - they told me that was up from 4000.

I'm not worried and I don't think you should either. I just was surprised to get some of the responses I did. There are really some upset people here. Oh well.
I looked into this briefly a few years ago.....

Unfortunately no cosmetology colleges in my area in the Midwest are offering training.  Not sure where to begin, but I just bet there is a niche in my neck of the woods that needs to be filled.

I'm not saying that isn't fact ... I just don't believe rumors until
fact is presnted.

I guess I will find soon enough.

I briefly viewed their website and what a joke.

They are so full of *rap.   I would stay away from them.   If you are considering a career change I'd look somewhere else besides MT.

that's just rumors, as persistent as they are unfounded
You can go out anytime you want.  You do have to wear the abiyya (the black cloak, very thin, go find it in silk!) to cover your clothes, it's a matter of modesty.  Non-Muslim women don't have to cover their hair, but the Embassy tells you to carry a scarf with you in your purse, just in case.  The hospital sent two buses out every evening to various destinations: Safeway and Pizza Hut, or the open-air bazaar, or the enclosed mall with red carpet, a/c, fountains, escalators and chandeliers, or to the open air fruit/vegetable market.  There are amusement parks that are separated into men's side and women's side, complete with log flume.  The zoo has women's days.  The restaurants are divided into men's and family section, and usually the family sections are MUCH nicer, with mashrabiyya screens for privacy, your own waiter, etc.  There are taxi's all over (called limos), that you can call from the hospital to take you anywhere you want to go, or you can catch them on the street of course.  Far from, being hostile, the Arab women are very friendly, they are very curious about us.  The slightest show of friendship on your side willl go a long way.  You'll meet lots of American and British employees at the hospital, of course, but sad to say, most of them go on the shopping buses, but otherwise sit home and complain about how there's no freedom and they can't do anything.  Make yourself some Arab friends (female) and you'll be out every night partying!!!  Non-alcoholic, of course :)
They are not rumors. They are opinions. MQ is moving towards something and that is a fact and it may
well be they are going to go with the technology spoken about above totally by other posters and get out of the MT side of it. That has been spoken of many many times by many many people and is not a rumor. It is an opinion. I would rather be forwarned and have my ducks in a row and not sit her getting nasty surprises. No one has to do anything but just be aware that is all. Just be looking over your shoulder and thinking ahead and you will be fine.
You are spreading rumors not "reporting a story"
It is an inflammatory rumor unless you can prove Walmart did this on purpose.
I briefly talked to my uncle, who is psychiatrist, about Tater. His recommendation was to take her
to a pediatric psychiatrist for a thorough evaluation and then the appropriate referrals and/or medications can be started. There has to be an indepth evaluation why Tater is the way she is. It could be that her mother was never abusive towards her, but it could be that Tater may be showing the early signs of schizophrenic disorder and what we perceive as lies to us are realities to her. At any rate, shipping the child off may not be the best answer, but to get her the adequate help. I feel for your friend, because it is not easy to deal with a "problem child" but now Tater's Daddy and your friend are legally responsible and accountable for the child.
PS.. It apparently worked..I heard back and already submitted the paperwork back.

I'm not sure how many people they are hiring but you shouldn't stress too hard over it. Do the best you can.

Please note: MTStars is in no way affiliated with MTSpot. There are rumors that I own the site, whic

Every company is different -- I worked FT for one as an employee but worked a split shift - sm
So I never took breaks. I would work 5 hours, break for about 4 hours then do another 3. Another company I worked for did not care what hours you worked (IC) but wanted a min. amount of work each day, 500 for PT and 1000 for FT-- BUT they paid you by how many lines an hour you put out, the higher the lph the higher up the scale you made per line in pay; they have since changed everyone to a flat rate with incentive. But bottom line, if you are an IC it does not matter what hours you work, though many ask for a schedule and ask you to stick to it, they just want you to meet line requirements daily, i.e. 1000 per day, 1200 per day, whatever it is.
I WASN'T GUESSING. I HEARD WHAT I HEARD VERY CLEARLY.
I don't even agree with what QA said, but they are QA. Question them, and your out the door.
I got up early, worked during naps, and worked when DH got home.

You have to be disciplined to make yourself work when baby is napping instead of maybe watching TV or doing housework, etc.

I might also go the route of having a teen come into your home, or either trying a mother's morning out program at a local church/daycare.   I've been home since my youngest was born and he has never been in all-day daycare, but I did have him in a mother's morning out program 15 hours a week at a local church.   It didn't help a lot with my work schedule because I had an older son in school and was a room mom and tutored other kids, but that might be an option.  The only problem with the mother's morning out program is they are around other kids and tend to pick up every germ.  I finally took my DS out of the program because he stayed sick.  You were supposed to keep them off if they had green nasal discharge and I did, but no one else did.  Every time I got him well after 2 to 3 days back he would be sick again.  Other than that it was very good for him because he would not have had a chance to be around kids his age otherwise.

I worked on that system when I worked there...
The thing that chapped my hide about that TWS was that they designed it so that all the headers of each section of the report were canned and thus you were not paid for them, even though you had to take your hand off the keyboard and mouse down a list of paragraph headers to chose the one you needed.  Just racking up more profits for themselves.  Ticks me off.
that is what is being worked out, and has been worked on for the last few years already...only
why are we just hearing this now? I know voice recog has been around, but this is entirely different. This will also make coding and billing obsolete.

Don't know why, but it just bothers me that one of our 'own' is the one pushing this...and she is also connected with AAMT. Do they support this, and if so, what is their advice I wonder to the MT?

Perhaps that is one question for their website (I do not subscribe to their mag or credentials...)

Thanks, for the input!
Now Ive heard that before.:) nm
xxx
That's not what I have heard...
nm
What I heard...
And is strictly speculation... Phillips will dump MQ and Spheris will snap them up... and we all know what happens to those who work for Spheris! Can you say hello Bangalore?
I heard it too AND
x
Not heard anything about it
sorry
I am sure you have heard this before..
there is no such thing as a dumb question.

you are asking questions other people wish they had the answers to but are afraid to ask.

and you are correct in your assumptions, however, your on-call status might have parameters; for instance, between the hours of midnight and 8 a.m.
Anyone heard of LTS, INC?
I was thinking of applying at LTS, INC  but I was not sure if they were reputable! If anyone has ever heard anything about them, let me know!  Thanks!!
What I heard
I heard September 11th is the day we are all supposed to boycott.
This is what I heard is better to do
Of course, we all need gas, and as another poster noted, just not buying gas on a certain day will not work.

What I heard is, buy your gas from a small-time operation, as opposed to Exxon, BP, etc. This will cause them to lower their prices, and the smaller companies with follow by lowering theirs.

Also, noticed yesterday that gas has come down by about .50 in my area. I wasn't surprised, because when I have to go out, there's much, much less traffic...I would estimate by 75% of normal, so folks are boycotting in a way already... cutting down on their trips, combining trips, etc., because they just draw the line at the point prices had risen.
The last I heard
Huntsville Hospital transcription was a pill to work for. I worked with a lady one time who had quit the hospital because after they had agreed to give her vacation at a certain time months in advance they told her she couldn't take it and she had to cancel her vacation plans. They may have improved the way they do business by now but not sure. I would do more research if at all possible.
Heard something
Instead of the bonus being in the 10/1 paycheck, it is supposed to be in the 11/15 paycheck. Of course part of all of it was that you have to be with the company in order to receive it...you leave, you lose. Only half of the employees qualified, which is curious. I know a lot of people left after they restructured they pay plan and the hew hires get their $1000 bonus so I'm confused as to how it saves them money. I guess they are thinking they are about to have another exodus when the bonuses are given out and the new people won't be there long enough to qualify for the next quarterly bonus.

d~~~~> scratching my head
Anybody heard of
Any information would be helpful.  TIA
Yea, but what is said and what is heard are different. NM
NM
I heard that!
Just a few that get to me...along with the phrase "24/7, 365"... Not sure why that one gets on my nerves, but it does!  "Team player" is another one! and the best yet...to me, my boss uses the phrase that she is going to "tickle" something...meaning mark it for future reference (I think).. not really sure about that phrase either!
Must not have done much. I never heard of it and I'm okay this a.m.
I usually get socked by everything down the pike with my AVG.
What is it about? Never heard of it.

nm

I have never heard of them, but you should
try posting this on the companies board and maybe someone there can help. Also, it might not be soon enough for you. Try googling the words "opinions on Entente Health Care" and that might help. Good luck!
Never heard of them. Sorry. nm
x
Yes I have heard of this, but the
pay was very low.
I have heard that it is about 85%

85% for no spaces compared to spaces being counted. Not sure if that is a correct number. I know there is a chart somewhere that breaks it all down.

Never heard of them
That is odd.  I live in Arkansas and have never heard of them.  Are they new?  Let us know if you do hear anything about them.
I have not heard of this before? Can you tell us more.
and in fact wondered to myself about specializing in maintaining flower gardens for the sick and elderly who haven't the strength to do it but want it just the same.
I have never heard of these, but this is exactly what I need. I'm going to ask about them. Have
xx
sorry I mean heard
nm
I heard that also
I believe it has something to do with benefiting farmers and their crops, but I could be wrong. I think that was the reason it got started in the first place.
I heard about them

I heard about this company, giving all  their work to India and not paying any one on time. Please be aware of this guys!

I have never heard of that but perhaps...sm

Hibiclens would be better than Betadine, I would think....plus Betadine stains and Hibiclens does not.  *S*

Fresh blade to shave that area though - I know this because I no longer have the bumps since using the fresh blades.

Never heard of that.
x
Wow - now I have heard it all lol
x
What I have heard is this ..

The test is comprehensive and the difference is that there is less emphasis placed on the transcribing of reports in the test and more emphasis placed on your body of knowledge.  It requires that you have at least two years of acute care experience to take it. We pay a .01 per line higher rate for CMTs at my company and that works out to be 12.00 a day extra for your production requirement or $60 per week or $240 per month.  I find that our MTs think it is well worth it.  Additionally, with the average age of MTs being 58, I'd say that your grandfathered CMTs are dwindling in the workplace as they retire and those left are tested CMTs but a different formatting situation.

never heard of it, but
I googled it and it sounds very yummy. Sounds sort of complicated though.
I had not heard of these before, but
I Googled and got this as the first hit. Apparently, it does not detect cigarette smoke, but rather detects the act of lighting the cigarette, and is made for such purposes as catching the culprit who is smoking in a school bathroom or other such public facility. Check it out.
