I would go with vinyl. We have tile now and I think it killed my dog. -sm

She slipped and fell on it when she slopped her water. I almost did too. She could hardly move. I think she might have broken some ribs. At the least they had to be bruised. It was actually my husband's cousin's dog so he took her to the vet and they put her to sleep on me. The vet said she was in severe pain. She was my little buddy. I never had an animal that loved me so much. (And I've always been a cat person.)

Tile is very slippery, hard, and cold too. I found the vinyl a lot easier to clean. Our tile is a mess. It cracked, the grout is dirty even though it was sealed. It's mostly because of the dogs that it's so yucked up. I can't stand going over by the front wall. It's soooo cold there, but I'm really intolerant to cold.

Our vinyl lasted a lot longer and was more comfortable than the tile. Not to mention, we had to cut all the doors besides.

ceramic tile or vinyl
Hi; when we bought our house it had carpet in the bathrooms, dining room and kitchen (even UNDER the stove!!). Couldn't wait to get it out of those places. We did go with Pergo in the dining room and kitchen, and it has done very well; however, there are no children in our home so there is less wear and tear on it. We have had it about 5-6 years and it is holding up very well. Just thought I'd share my experience with it :)
ceramic tile/vinyl
I have had ceramic tile in my kitchen and also vinyl. Ceramic does clean much easier, looks nicer, but it is very slippery when wet, can cause a concussion if you fall on a wet floor or that, and if you drop anything, boy does that object shatter. I like vinyl better, harder to keep clean but with the new vinyl floors now they are beautiful. I would choose vinyl over ceramic, but that is just my opinion.
I have vinyl but I think ceramic tile looks nicer.

POLL: Off subject - Ceramic tile or vinyl
I recenly bought a big house that has carpet in the kitchen.  I want to take the carpet out but don't know if I should go for ceramic tile or vinyl flooring.  Any suggestions?
I love ceramic tile.

I had vinyl tile in my kitchen most of my life and had switched to ceramic for a while now.  I love the ceramic tile for ease of cleaning and durability.  It doesn't stain and it doesn't rip or peel up after a while either.   It's more expensive, but well worth it in the long run.

I think I participated in that; certainly fit in the highest %tile in just about all categories.

Ceramic tile, but who puts carpet in a kitchen?

Ceramic vs vinyl
A big NO to the vinyl. It buckles, peels and lifts off the cement underneath if it gets too wet...especially where the cove basing (under the sink cabinets) meets the floor.

If you can afford it, definitely go for ceramic. Last a long, long time, looks much better but be prepared to be diligent about cleaning the grout between the tiles...if you ignore it for too long, it will darken.
Vinyl stickers
I purchased some vinyl stickers from GoldViolin for $10.00 .  They are the best I have found, although they will wear too, so I buy 2 sets at a time.  Hope this helps.
Thanks everyone, now that I look more at the floor, its a vinyl I guess -sm
so linoleum was probably the wrong way to describe it. Just hoping I can clean it so in the future whenever we sell (in a few years) we won't have to put in a new floor....will use tile next time though so I don't have this same problem. Another alternative is to cover the whole floor with the rugs and make it one uniform stain (then no one would know!).
The Armstrong stuff is for vinyl...
You can find it at Home Depot or Lowes near the cleaners and such. and it worked beautifully on my vinyl.  It wasn't real expensive either.  Its a two step thing, one strips and the other puts a new gloss on it.  Try it....it will probably work.
Vinyl sticky letters...sm

www.goldviolin.com sells sticky Vinyl letters.  I have bought many, many sets and always keep one on hand.  They are also very large letters, for those of us with failing eyesight.  Lol

I used to do that until it killed me almost! I now do QA.
I did it many years though and with 99% accuracy. You go girlfriend and do it while you can. :)
Tried it, nearly killed me. Unless you want to be

tied to your desk 24/7, not see your family and then if you do you're too tired and cranky to enjoy each other, have no other life, don't mind a messy house, etc. I wouldn't do it.

You just cannot be productive working this much and especially if all 3 formats are different, plus you'll have to learn new docs, etc., so you will actually be working more hours and making less money, not to mention the stress.   You might could do it for a couple of weeks until you could get a feel for what jobs you like best, but any more than that and it is just too much.

DH and I had vinyl lettering done up for our car windows this year.
Mine says, "Keep Christ in CHRISTMAS." His says, "What do you mean Happy Holidays? How would you like it if your birthday was taken away?"

Yes, the school holiday programs today were lame. Happy Holidays, Jingle Bell Rock, African Kwanzaa song, Hanukkah song, but absolutely not a darn thing referring to Jesus Christ, Noel, angels, or anything "religious." There wasn't one African or Jewish person in the entire auditorium either. But what I want to know is this. If Christmas is too religious to be in school, why aren't Kwanzaa and Hanukkah too religious to be in school?
Vinyl stickers with very large letters...sm

work really well, I ordered them from Gold Violin.com.  I believe they were $9.00. I don't look at my keys, but it just bugs me when there are no letters on my keys.

Although no letters means nobody else will get on my puter.

I need to do the same, need some small vinyl WHITE letters though - sm
husband complains when he has to print out his work schedule (no printer on his laptop) and has to use mine to get to his work website but missing the E, D, S, C, N, L, and my < and > ---drives him nuts...so guess who gets to get the schedule for him! One of these days I will get some letters, tried Liquid Paper but was uncomfortable on the fingers and wore off fast too.
Get to a Dr. ---my mom had this and it was CHF--it killed her quick-
get checked out.
I tried it last week and it almost killed me
I tried a 5:30 to 9:30 for one company, noon to 4 for another - and squeezing the other work in between those two times - and I was stressed to the max.  If the companies can give you work 24/7 and you can work your own schedule - and it can vary - I think you could do - I just had down time and unpredictable times when doctors would submit work - and no could do!!
Vinyl belts. Thanks for the memory, Mine was legal, but all the same.

pit bulls killed Maltese
I am so sorry about your puppy.  I saw a pit bull attack a German shepherd in our off-leash park.  The owner showed up right after the police -- I and the shepherd's owner were screaming, "Call 911" -- and he gave a fake name and address.  He had another loose pit bull, too.  Then another of my dog-walking acquaintances said she saw a pit bull kill a dog in that same park and the owner then proceeded to kill the pit bull by bludgeoning him/her.  I read that one of every two dogs killed at our animal shelter is a pit.  I have a neighbor who drove 1000-1500 miles, to a breeder's place in California, to get a pit bull to protect his wife, that the breeder claimed was completely gentle, just looked scary.
second job killed me on taxes, so I found a job
that was just money in my pockets without having to claim it - an extra $600/week. Did it until I burned out, which wasn't long - 8 weeks. But it definitely helped!!!!
Pit bull dogs killed my lab
About 2 a.m. my husband let our two dogs outside to do their business. Our dogs have squeezed out under a spot under the fence before ane we have put big rocks, a pedestal, etc. in the hole and barricaded the gates, etc. My lab, Shadow, is 1.5 years old and 75 pounds. My mixed dog, Flash, is also around 60 pounds. They apparently got out and got separated. Flash found his way back to the front door and my husband woke me up and said Shadow was missing. We proceed to go through the neighborhood for two hours looking for Shadow. Eventually, we go out the back gate (it is very overgrown and wooded) and two pit bulls come up through the woods and attack Flash. My husband and I are throwing rocks everything we can get ahold of and my husband manages to get the dogs off of Flash.

Long horrific story short, Shadow was killed by these monsters and was found by my husband and a police officer in the woods not far from our back gate. Flash survived. These could have been someone's children. Animal control had been called three times this week on those dogs. We called the police and animal control and the dogs are to be picked up today. We live in the middle of a city and our dogs spend 90% of their time inside. These were our "children", as we do not have any children.

I just wanted to let you know about these types of "pets". Google "labrador" and Google "pit bull" and tell me which one you think is a better choice. These people breed these monsters and teach them to attack. It is a wonder that my husband or myself did not get attacked in the process. Please do not let your children around these animals. It is not safe.

Who do U think killed JonBenet Ramsey?
I think her parents did it...
ever killed a fly or a mosquito? they live and

breathe, too, but they are pesky little anoying things. And no, I don't think the killing of thousands of dogs in China was right. It was despicable. But you can't let this thread get carried away by stating that no living breathing thing should ever be killed. JMO.

Pit bull dogs killed my lab
Thank you for your messages. I have read every one and I can see the point of each. I am trying to deal with this the fairest way I know how, but I am heartbroken and do not want anyone else to have to deal with this kind of thing.

Thank you for responding. I really do appreciate every one of your messages. OP
he hasn't actually said, "i killed her." He has only stated, "i was with her when she d
i think he is totally obsessed with the case. whether he did it or not, i am not sure. he can't give details?? the puzzle i am not fitting is the 118,000 ransom note that patsy new about. he has admitted it was a hostage gone wrong. i am wondering if maybe somehow he and patsy worked together on this one and now the reasoning it is coming out since patsy is no longer here. he lived in Georgia where they did but jonbenet was a baby at that time. it states that were vaginal abrasions but no semen? maybe that was a cover up to make it look like an intruder but they kinda left out an item called semen to make it real. makes me wonder if her hymen was intact. he is saying he drugged and raped her but yet autopsy says no drugs in her system.
If only air conditioning killed fleas!! No way!!
I rescued 2 kittens about 6 months ago, and they blessed my house with love and fleas!! I wasted 6 months using Frontline on kitties and dogs - forget it! Infestation crisis! I finally had the sense to switch to Advantage and its a miracle. Much less expensive than Frontline, and way more bang for your buck!! After the initial application of Advantage on 2 cats and 3 dogs, just had to reapply after 2 weeks, and now we are on top of things. No more fleas, though I will continue to use for months more. I hate using this toxic stuff, but my dogs are flea allergic. Nearly killed them. I would give Advantage a shot once just to make sure you didn't miss any fleas. And we keep our house frigid - doesn't bother them one bit. In fact, I picture them laying around in floor cracks and furniture, on little flea lounge chairs with pina coladas!!
We have a gunite pool as opposed to vinyl/sand liner..
The gunite is definitely more expensive, but lasts much longer.  I'm in NH and I see signs for gunite pools starting at 19,900 around here, but I have no idea what that includes. As usual, the advertisement and the actual cost out the door are probably too different things.  Also, expect your electric bill to hit the roof even if you run the filter only 12 hrs out of 24.  But it's worth it to us... Our kids are pre-teens and virtually LIVE in that thing, so we don't regret buying this house.
I did legal transcription using the old vinyl belts. A LONG time ago. LOL

Ya know, you probably just killed that patient with your missing period! SM

It's ridiculous when you put it that way, isn't it?  In my opinion the MTSOs and the QA people who work for them have gone way over the top.  I've worked both in the hospital and at home for the MTSO and I can tell you the HIM Director at the hospital and the docs at the hospital could care less if you forgot your period.  When QA tells you that they have had complaints from the client, it's a bunch of garbage unless there are blatant errors such terminology misuse, mispellings, drug dosage errors, etc.  The are absolutely NOT complaining about your missing period.  It sounds to me like the QA department where you work is just looking for every little error they can find.  Some QA editors are on power trips and love to ping you.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.  Use your Expanders like the others suggested.  You could proofread everything you type, but it's easier and more productive to pay attention as your typing.

In the "old days" of dictation on vinyl belts, the quota was do to 15 minutes an hour. sm

To me, it seems realistic, but then again, each situation is different.  On account I know, I can usually do 30 minutes an hour, although being money-oriented and paid by the line, I usually gauge things by lines.  I do 250-300 lph, but those little dinky reports ARE an irritation -- no argument there -- hardly enter the header info and *poof* the dictation is over.  Would be hard to make a decent line count that way.

But ... surely your employers understand there are variations on such things.  Maybe you average 8.9 one month and 12 the next ... I would think it would even out.

Anyway, i'm into that gray zone where I know nothing about, but I wish you good luck.  To me, in the days when I was supervisor, if I knew someone was doing the best they could do, that was all that mattered to me.

Is anyone watching Court TV and/or following case of 16-year-old who killed parents.
My satellite went out during sentencing and just wondered what her sentence ended up being.  I was hoping life w/o probation.
People get killed EVERYDAY by making bad decisions. If you go to work
driving while you are intoxicated or sleepy you are more likely to get in an accident. Do you deserve it? I dunno. Maybe people should just use their brains and they would not become victims or killed. Your logic is flawed and you are comparing apples to oranges. How about this? If you wear skimpy clothes and get drunk and hang out with drunk people instead of dressing a little more modestly and keeping your mind sober, who is more likely to be raped? It is logical that consequences of your behavior will decide your fate.
Had a Sony hand control years ago, then my thumb killed me! nm
..
A hyphen never killed anyone but a left and right error did and I catch plenty of those as the MT.
blah - these aren't rules, they are decisions made by a circle of anal retentive MTs. Dorland's and a grasp of the English land and basic sentence structure all make it happen but a love of medicine is what makes an expert in this field because they follow the doctor's hands, eyes and mind.
You seem to forget the HUNDREDS of thousands Saddam killed, execution style.

Yeah, I used to years ago but no heavy usage, what killed by brain cells
not getting high. Granted if I had done it a lot, maybe so, but I have 1 good friend who got high every day, she has a Master's degree and is a respected Speech Therapist, though we tease her about her specialty, "swallowing".
