I have a glitch with mine and waited a month and a half, not wanting to be pushy. This was after I telephoned and spoke with the girl from Textware that posts here sometimes, told her what my problem was and that I had sent an e-mail through their website and not heard back within a few days. She told me to send her the glossary I was having trouble with, and I e-mailed it both as a reply to her, in accordance with her instructions for sending, and also e-mailed again to tech support through my own e-mail provider. Anyway, I finally contacted again and she was going to be out for a couple of days, and though another person did try to help, I have been too busy to mess with it, but was irritated that I was told they did not receive my e-mails (I still have them in my box) and Kristen did not bother to call and let me know they did not receive it, even though I had taken the time to call her and explain my problem after the first unsuccessful e-mail. Sorry, I guess I needed to vent about that . . .

Anyway, if you have your glossaries saved and are sure you won't lose anything, I would uninstall and reinstall if it were me.

Don't hold your breath
Never has for anyone I know anyway (myself included)
yeah, shall we hold our breath? *lol*..sm

it said there - they would be choosing only TWO winners.....*lol* - we probably were NOT the first two to do the test, eh?  *giggles*

Will not hold my breath on being acknowledged for the years
and really I am to the age where I really don’t mind, just the money I make is fine. My hubby works union for a company and has some seniority so that is a good thing, at least does not have to buy his gas nor pay for repairs, etc. on his vehicle. At my present job if the work is down low, I am at a point where now I can take off some and usually do, knowing there are people like me who in the past really needed to work and I defer to their needs. Like I said, been there. One difference I see with these jobs now is in the past we did not run out of work all the time but now these companies do. I would never enter a business like this now because so iffy. Took a while for my training and glad I made living at it but it is not really good now. I probably would have 6 or 7 jobs going now to make what I did with full and part in the past.
Possibly your autorecovery file, but I would not hold my breath unless -
you have it set up to do auto saves every few minutes or so. This feature has saved my butt a few times.
I wouldn't hold Stedmans accountable for
not being able to open zip files.  Do you have a zip program on your computer?  If so, just use it to unzip the files.  WinZip can be downloaded for an initial free trial.  When you unzip it, save the .exe file to the Stedmans folder, then click "run" if prompted.  If not prompted to run, click your start button, click run, and browse for the Stedmans folder and select its .exe file to run.  It should then begin to install and you should follow the prompts of questions it will ask you.
It wouldn't load with my Office. Somehow it wouldn't "read" my 2003 Basic, although sm
technical couldn't find anything wrong with my software. They really tried hard. I see so many people that like Escription, I'm sorry not to be able to use it. Hopefully I can get Office Pro on my next machine, and maybe use it then. I could upgrade, but I'm still not sure it would work.
No.. breath the same air you say!

I'm holding my breath!
I want Taylor to win so badly!!!!  He even looked adorable in that awful jacket he had on for his first song.  Can't wait to hear his last song--on the edge of my seat.  Breathe, breathe, breathe.  I think I may hyperventilate!
Take a deep breath
and go in and be completely honest about the situation. Perhaps asking your boss for a little help with a note about how important you are on the job, blah, blah, might help if possible. I don't think all is lost - a jurist who is so worried about work that she/he cannot concentrate on the matter at hand is not really helpful to the system. If you get to the place where you are questioned, you may be asked if there is anything that would influence how you might interpret the case, or some other question that may open the door for an honest statement about the situation. Also, if there is a good reason (other than plain old procrastination) why you did not respond to the JD notice earlier, you should absolutely pursue this avenue as well. Good luck.
Again...you are a breath of fresh air

A breath of fresh air. Thank you.

Now, no more odors from the mushroom house, please.

Take a deep breath
An apology would be nice, but for now, isn't it obvious (and enough) that she knows she messed up? You know it, she knows it, she knows you know it, & you know she knows it.

You may never get a flat-out apology, but who cares? She did the next best thing, considering she was probably pretty embarrassed. Not everyone is able to articulate remorse at the same moment they are feeling humiliated. Maybe later, or not. Move on.

Breath of fresh air?
Working under these circumstances will not give you time to breathe!
You probably shouldn't waste your breath
You are so right.

How one finds themselves in a desperate situation like this is irrelevant.

I just can't help but think people who have the mentality of the poster to whom you responded are the same who claim to be Christians and Right-To-Lifers. I guess you only have the right to live if you're in the womb and not a sinner.

These people were totally disregarded as human. Make your bed mentality, have versus have not mentality, and as the poster below said, plantation mentality.

Yes, he was out of breath - could hardly get words out - it was disgusting
nm
You are welcome - you are like a breath of fresh, unpolluted air! (nm)

I just take a deep breath and get through it. I have a high

percentage of ESL dictators, though most are very good.  I have one American born dictator who is horrendous and he will dictate 15+ minute reports and yawns all the way through them, but he keeps dictating as he is yawning.  He also can't figure out what to say and just keeps dictating so trying to figure out what is good dictation and what isn't is a job.   If I have him first thing it can ruin my whole day, so I have just gotten where I take a deep breath, tell myself I have to get through it to go to the next one and it usually goes quickly once I adjust my attitude.

Hayseed, take a deep breath...
You've just reached the boiling point. How have you put up with this as long as you have? Yes, you'll still have your job. I think some companies like to see how far they can push someone, and the more you do, the more they want you to do. But they do not want to lose a great employee such as you.

I seldom post here but I always look for your posts because you're entertaining and enlightening. That may not mean much to you right now but I know you're going to get a lot of responses saying the same thing.

So take that deep breath. If necessary, maybe send a more calmly worded email to your boss stating things much as you did in your post here, especially the 2nd paragraph. It's very succinct and gets your points across. Now you hang in there. It's going to be okay.
Take a deep breath and relax!!!!!
You are feeling what every MT feels, newbie, experienced or old-timer. I have been doing MT for 8 years and still crack myself up with some of the mistakes I make. The fact that you are rereading and finding your mistakes is good. In time you will start to not make as many mistakes and your speed will improve. Quality over quanitity was what I was always told. Unless you are working for a company that is pushing you for turnaround time, just relax and you will be fine. If you are working for a company that is pushing for turnaround time and not as worried about quality, I would begin looking for a better company. MTs need time to build their skill and no company can expect you to know everything in only two years of experience.

Heck, in my 8 years, I still look things up, read, re-read and still sometimes have to leave a blank or ask the doc for clarification. That does not make me a bad MI but in most cases a better MT because in this business, we can not afford to guess what the answer is.

God Bless.
you obviously can't type and breath at the same time???
nm
Jewelsy, you're a breath of fresh air (sm)

I appreciate your experience and insight!  I agree about clinic work being boring; so is radiology.  And VR/speech rec has really taken over radiology and clinic, the same for EMR.  I know it's going to be a huge challenge for a few months, but I'm up for the challenge!  Plus I've done interventional radiology-type transcription (minimally invasive procedures) with really tough dictators, so I have a bit of a heads up.

Thanks again!  I'd like to update you in my transition late this summer.

Took deep breath, several, now feeling faint!
Just kidding but am getting weary of thinking today. I was wrong at first- all need to underline this- husband says I never say I was wrong but anyway I have Infinity foot pedal, only 1 port to hook up monitor and no other port for my foot pedal. I got splitter today, will not work as had 2 female ends and I need 1 female and 1 male. This might be a repeat but again, old folks do this. Thanks everyone for all you have written, really appreciate all and still searching in case anyone else knows something different.
Got my chuckle for the night, doc talking about breath sounds - sm
and how the lungs were clear, etc. then the next sentence is "the patient is currently not breathing", just funny after the previous sentences on his lung sounds.  Also diagnosed at age 2, however the child is only 14 months old, hmmm, nice trick there!  Presume he means 2-months but will have to question it though since he did not say!
I agree. I found him to be very sexy. He'd always take my breath completely away!

Wouldn't that mean that you simply wouldn't have to print out everything?

I'm still waiting for the
coming in the spring."  Anybody remember that?  I think spring has come and gone.
Don't keep waiting around...

so what are you waiting for?

waiting...
I am waiting for an internship, I have given up trying to find a job! I decided that everyone is right, you have to do the internship or mentoring program and that is the way to go!!! I think it is the way to get my foot in the door so to speak. Thank you for all who have given me good advice. I think this is the way to go! There is no other way to go, that is my belief anyway...
waiting
I totally understand....
What are waiting for?

Wouldn't it be fabulous if all of us young chicks in our 50s formed our own business together?  I don't know what business it would be, but we'd sure have fun!  I think we should all audition for Deal or No Deal, and whichever one wins, we split the winnings between us.  Wouldn't that be a gas?

I'm waiting too....
I have 25 years experience and have been posting on this site and one other..I want to be able to start PT and then when my full-time job stops Radiology Overtime, then I'll be free to do more at home. Is it the economy? I love being at home and dread having to pound the pavement and work somewhere at night!
I'll be waiting to see
those Keystrokes links.
Agree and waiting until we all will have to pay for

I kept waiting to be scared on that one
but it never happened. The ending was SO incredibly stupid that I can't believe I wasted $2.99 renting it.
Nope....not new.....still waiting!!

for short term to see which is really the one you want. Ya never can tell. If need be, be up front with current employer, tell them you want to be fair and say working both places to SEE rather than just quit them.
I am not sure about the waiting lists here yet,
but I do know that the program only takes so many students. That will probably be another thing I will have to factor in too. Great tip on taking the electives while waiting though. I am only going for the associate's degree as well. Are you interested in going into psych too?
what if I have call waiting?
Will the call waiting interfere with it?
Ha, sitting here waiting
for work!
waiting for work
just curious - who do you work for?
Been waiting 3 months
for an Illinois company to pay me the one and only invoice I sent them. Have sent emails so that everything is in writing. I have called and left message, but she's not in and doesn't call back. Excuses have been that client not billed, I'm been sick, will send next week, etc. Filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau, but they cannot help in matter. Talked to Labor Board, but they cannot help because I was a contractor, and they suggested I get a lawyer. I am now in process of writing a demand letter and then will file small claim lawsuit. I began asking for payment since 10 days after invoice and still nothing!

Only worked for them for a week because I knew it wasn't going to work out, so I think this is MTSO messing with me because they are ticked off. I thought of billing client I did work for just to embarrass her!

Sitting waiting right now....
I guess this gives us time to chat on MTStars.
how hold
married at 18....wouldn't change a thing even if I could go back in time. Our marriage grows stronger each year...
Hold up a sec.

You dictate your own VR as an IC?  I don't think that's what the original poster was asking about.  I think what the OP was talking about was a company that has VR and only pays 55% to 70% of regular line rate.  Most companies' platforms aren't technically enabled to allow the MT to redictate the VR.  In fact I've never heard of that before.

If you make money doing VR you're way, more power to ya.  But I don't think that's what the OP was talking about.

Hold out for more.....7 cpl is way too low...sm
I just had the same experience, was offered that amount by one company. I held out and got something part time with a good company at 9 cpl on weekdays and 10 cpl on weekends.
Hold on........think about this. sm
First, you need to make up a pay rate to compensate you for your hard work. Re-negotiate your contract if you have one. If you do not have one, I suggest getting one.

You need to set your pay date/pay period in writing and the ramifications to the client if pay is late. Either charge 15% as a late fee, etc.

Next, you can either charge piecemeal for STAT work, faxes, etc or you can include everything in one line rate. That is up to you.

After everything is in writing, have the client/doctor/office manage, whoever it may be, meet with you and go over all of the details. If they agree, than continue on doing the acocunt. If they do not agree, and it is a well-paying account, when you get paid, try to work a few things out. If all fails, then move on.

But, don't just get frustrated and let the account go. The office just may not be aware of all the extra things you are doing and may think it is included in your line rate.

You need to either spell it out to them in writing or just raise your line rate to include everything.

Believe me, in my younger years, I was where you are now. On looking back, I would have done some things differently. Now, I can say I know things from experience that you can not learn in a textbook or college classroom.

Good luck to you.
I'd put it on hold it too. You are being
very smart right now.  Hang tight.  If it goes well-WONDERFUL.  If it turns bad, you won't have to kick yourself in the a$$ because of buying a new house.
okay hold on I think we are...
talking about two different certifications!

I mean certification as in going to school. I mean we should have to have a CERTIFICATE from a school saying that we took the courses and have passed. To heck with AAMT, I've heard plenty about them promoting overseas transcription!

I just mean that there needs to be a standard for MTs. That way it isn't so easy to get into the profession. Besides outsourcing overseas, our next biggest problem is that there are people who are getting MT positions just by the luck of passing a test or are taking jobs at 4-5 cpl which is why someone like me who has spent a year going to an actual college, actually going to campus each night, now has to start off at 6 cpl. That type of pay is ridiculous for a professional. I can make more working at Burger King.

That's why I was saying that for those that are already proven MTs who have experience there should be some type of quick certification for them. Maybe a test, or three verifiable references that they have been MTs for such a time, or something. I don't know.

But that is what I meant by certification. CMT/RMT has just become a way for AAMT to make money off of us. There needs to be a mandatory, BY LAW requirement to be an MT. Just like a doctor absolutely has to go to and graduate from med school or a police officer has to graduate from the police academy, etc.
i would hold
off until about 3 (her time). then you could call her or if you have her email address just send her an email and just say you were wondering if they had made a decision yet. I would not worry about the ad being gone.
