When I stressed the important of having medical documents (legal documents)
on the patient's chart (there are outpatient exams done. Hospital is in the outpatient business), the woman said that if there is a serious finding on an exam, the radiologist will call the referring physician and tell him by phone!

This, my friends, is the result of hiring people who have no real background in the medical field (the lead MT never worked anywhere prior to this job, got on-the-job training and has, through a dominant personality, created a tight circle of workers which are marked up of friends from her life and church services over a 15 year period.

OMG!!!
so just because the US has been supporting--sm
other countries *for years now* makes is alright? and you are supporting this because you pity the people who are impoverished? What about the impoverished in our OWN country. what are you thinking?!
35,5, supporting only one person
I am supporting 4 teenagers, have a nice house and 2 car payments and do it on not much more than that.
Tired of supporting generations.........
of people who refuse to take care of themselves. I see this in my own town. We keep building housing "projects" for those "less fortunate". PLEEEAASE!! What makes them less fortunate. I'm not talking about those who NEED real help, who lost their job, who found themselves in monetary hardship due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm talking about those who keep having babies at 14, 15, 16. Heck, by the time my daughter was in high school, she had already seen one of her classmates have 3 children. Who was paying for those children? These same girls brag about what they know about the system, the more kids they have, the more they get on their "check". These are the ones that have no intention of working, because we ALL take care of their children with our hard earned taxes. We keep building new homes, (my mother lives in a home that is very old and needs LOTS of work). No one coming out feeling sorry for her, saying oh let me fix up your place. But, of course, these are HUD homes, brand new apts, brand new "GATED" apartments. GIMMIE A BREAK!! Now, they can live in these beautiful new homes and pay only minimal rent instead of getting out and buying a home that is older, doesn't look so pretty, may not be in the best neighborhood. But they don't want these. Our government has them feeling "ENTITLED" to these benefits that the rest of our pay for. And, of course, they can vote people into office that only help their situation, and we pay MORE taxes to build, build, build, send their kids to Headstart (by the way, my daughter is a teacher in the school system; she's not too impressed with what they learned. They don't know letters, numbers, colors). What were they learning at headstart? This is just a babysitter for most. I use to take my son to school, had to go through area where Headstart but picked up. THese mothers waited until the bus was at the corner, their children weren't even dressed, the moms were TOO lazy to even walk them down to the corner to wait on the bus. Only a couple of mothers would actually have their children standing at the corner, waiting with them for the bus. TO me, this showed their kids they thought this to be important. For those mothers that stood in the doorway, their hair in curlers, just getting out of bed, the bus lady had to get out, stand there, yelling for them to come on and hurry up. THe mothers just took their time while we all sat in our cars waiting for the bus to move.

What does this say about those who want to really try and those that are just glad to have a FREE babysitter.

It's selling-out because you're supporting an outfit
for more and more offshoring of American work, that's why. And when the possibility of plugging the leak by passing a bill to forbid offshoring of Amercians' info. without their consent, or another one getting rid of MTSO perks for offshoring our jobs goes to Congress, who do you think will be spending YOUR money to lobby against the passage of those bills, thereby possibly keeping YOUR job safe? You guessed it - AHDI. These people are all snakes. Passing a test and getting some fake letters after your name might make you feel better than other MTs, but it doesn't MAKE you, or any other MT better. What makes us better is on-the-job experience, not the shady auspices of the AHDI scammers.
I don't recall

a step between MRC and TL, but then I may be blocking the whole unpleasant next eight years.  It just got worse and worse and the final straw was Philips and being forced to become an employee, with a simply horrid manager.

When I started with MRC I worked in the office, which was about 4 miles 1-way from home and I either biked or walked.  I was pretty fit that couple of years.  TL moved the operation to swankier offices several miles farther away and across a major highway, thus putting an end to my bicycling.  I tried to work in the TL office, but they were just way too starchy and corporate for most of us MC people (no denim, no tennis shoes, no talking, blah, bhal, blah).  I remember a welcoming speech given by their office manager to all us boat people they had just acquired.  She spoke with her hands so much (a sort of Babs Streisand affectation - two-inch acrylic nails and all) that I could hardly keep from laughing.  Shortly after that I went home to work.

I do miss knowing the people I work with and for.  TL had an online company bulletin board but it was pointed out that this was for chat, but for official use only.  MQ had that horrible e-mail system where you had to check daily for bulletins.  Trouble was, I would have to spend 20 minutes a day sorting through all their self-promotional garbage to get to anything that actually pertained to me.

What a walk down memory lane!

I don't recall asking for advice (more)
and I don't really need a lecture from you about my finances. You assumptions about my situation could not be farther from the truth.

I'm not going to defend myself or make corrections to your incorrect assumptions. You seem to be very happy on your pedestal and God forbid anyone should choose to do things in a way that displeases you. I think it's pretty funny that you would get "burned up" by something that an anonymous person posted on the Internet.

I'm glad for you that you have nothing but luck going for you. Maybe you'll get to buy my car when I'm done with it!
There is one on MTChat, but I don't recall her name. nm

Diamond Pet Food Recall sm
check out their website if you use this brand.  dog and cat food recalled.  Dozens of dogs have died, others ill.
I'm confused....I don't recall ever subscribing to
anything. Do you get emails? You posted your own resume, and you can delete and modify that on your own so I'm guessing it's something different. Why didn't I ever have to sign up for anything?
Cannot recall password for Windows :(

PC crashed so I pulled out the old PC from years ago.  But, I cannot recall my password.  Can I get around this somehow?  I am lost without my puter :(.

Thanks!

As I recall, ONLY after you've been there for a set length of time.

Yes. But per Vera, that's wrong, if I recall correctly. SM
There are apparently about 10 zillion people who think that if you use a slang spelling or term long enough, you legitimize it. Sigh. There's no reason for that to ever be one word until such time it's marketed under that brand name. You can find LOTS of stuff on Google, and if there were 10,000 people who misspelled a term, there would be 10,000 hits on it -- and it would still be misspelled.
I only have single coverage with them. but as I recall from the literature it was about
$500 a month or so, maybe a little less. Give them a call or e-mail and I am sure they will tell you.
I don't recall saying I 'don't research' blanks.
is exactly what this portion of this thread is about. I never leave a blank until all avenues of finding the answer have been exhausted, which includes leaving a blank and continuing on with the report, as sometimes the answer can be found further down in the same report.

And here's another problem: sometimes the answer to the blank presents itself in the next report, or several reports down the line. By then the 'offending' report with said blank in it has already been sent and cannot be retrieved. If already-type reports could be retrieved and fixed by the original person that typed them a few minutes to an hour later, it would save a tremendous amount of time for all concerned: MTs, QAs, and the doctor waiting for the report that is languishing in a QA backlog.
Probably 2 weeks and if i recall it will be on a Friday for Federal.

She has explained it before - lots of expanders if I recall correctly.
I believe it - I to make great line counts in a few hours, but have to work in 2-3 hour periods, take a break, and go back later for 2-3 more hours.

If I sit here all day, I am not productive. It works for me.
If I recall, there used to be a Short Form Schedule C you could file sm

Yes, it should. As I recall, Express Scribe plays .dss files..sm
and that's what Olympus files usually are, but you can double check because some Olympus players also use .WMA files, I believe. Express Scribe plays nearly any file, but it should list on download website what all it will play.
No specific one that I can recall. Sorry. But I was running Google searches on the person,
and the same company kept popping up "run search online" everywhere! They had several options - $9.95 or $19.95 or a super-duper $49.95 one.  I went with the cheapest one, and even that was worth it. Though the $49.95 would surely be tempting....

I don't recall mentioning couches or TV-watching! Net-surfing is okay if one can't sleep, bu
most of the "fun" time I'm talking about is traveling to other countries, mountain biking, surfing, figure skating, skiing, and running, in addition to community events, reading, painting and drawing (some work was published), music, swimming, writing and sewing, just to mention a few.
I get it. But in return for supporting the small business the poor folk get nothing in return.
I understand why you don't shop at Walmart. You support those who support you but it doesn't work that way for me. I can go to an independent shop and by a dishwasher, pay lots more for it and get nothing in return to supplement my support of their small business. Same for all the poor folk who are shopping in Walmart trying to stretch a paycheck. I am glad Walmart exists for those folks.
PC to MAC documents?
How would I send a PC file that can be read on a MAC and vice versa? Please help ASAP.
The MDs are the one signing the documents and
attesting to their accurateness. Not the MTs.

New documents on QNet for MQ MTs

Go to QNet; look under Policy & Governance; click on Human Resources in the window to the right there are two new documents --- MTME Benefit Policy.

It's all apparently still in the workings but they are starting to post documents as they are readied.

Just thought I would share.

You must compare your documents..
with MS-Word Word Count, which is the standard. MS-Word count tool is used by FlashCount.

In case of any problem, feel free to ask.

Webmaster@MTStars.com
Compare old documents

Look at some of your old documents and see what your gross line is and then see what they would have been paid if you had been using a 65 cpl.   In word you can do that.  Now some software will count double character for capitalization, bold, underline, tabs are counted, indent and count spaces.   So that will also make a difference.  When one of my accounts was using Sylcount we always counted that way.  I do not think that there is a simple chart to use and since your documents could be very personalized with formatting, i.e. indenting lines which makes a gross line smaller, to me it would be best to compare your specific documents rather than a generic table.    There are a lot of variables (how long is your gross line) and I don't think a comparison table could take that all into account.   But I would think I think an estimation has always been 30% less lines for cpl versus gross.

Legal documents
I worked for an attorney for a while and also have a 2500 page transcript from my BIL's federal drug case and everything was done on legal sized paper - lots of quotes, etc. I wouldn't do editing of that sort of work for $1 a page - or even $3 - $6-$10 - yes. There's probably more money in that than there is in transcription - we MTs just haven't found it yet.
Help please - all my documents disappeared. sm
Has anyone ever had anything like this happen?  Everything that I had stored in my documents folder disappeared.  Any settings that I had specific to my computer are gone like including my favorites on IE, my normal.dot with all my macros, autocorrect entries, etc. for word, all music files, all pictures, and any and all word and excel based documents I had saved.  Interestingly my daughters user ID is fine and none of her documents disappeared.  I have ran virus scanners to know avail so I don't know if it was some sort of virus or hardware failure.  Any ideas?  It is a pain to start all over.  Also, what does everyone use for backup?  This is about the third time this year I have had computer issues and lost everything and I am so TIRED of starting over and kicking my production time in half until I get myself built back up.  I am ready for some type of really awesome backup to assure this does not happen to me again.
Bringing up old documents....
Hi-I have only worked on Extext for a few days and it seems pretty good. I agree with the problem with inserting doctors names though. I am especially interested in finding out how to pull up old documents as I wasn't told about this feature. Can you let me know? Thanks....
Maybe she means that the VR documents
are 'prescreened' for 'quality scare' before getting downloaded to the MT? If there are too many errors, it gets deleted and downloaded blank on the MT's screens?

But this does not make muchsense, does it?

Or maybe if QA finds too many mistakes, it gets deleted and sent back to the MT for straight transcription?

Don't know.

MPWord and assembling the documents into one
Hi,

MPWord does require you do a separate file for each dictation, but it takes the drudgery out of this, for it automatically saves/names the files for you.

It also has a feature that allows you to put all those notes into one file at the end of the day. If you don't need to preserve headers/footers use the Sticky Notes (Append). If you do need to preserve headers/footers, use PDF (Assemble). With either function, you can send your client one file with the day's work.

Has anyone had trouble converting documents

Word 2000.  These seem to be putting a .doc extension after all of my documents now.  Anyone have a fix?  I have an account that I can't use the .doc extension, and when I back that extension off, I get a message saying "this document may not be usable".  Is this a Vista issue?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

in advance for any help in this OMG matter!  I'm about ready to  , and I have just gotten it to grow to a length that I like.

Searching in WP 5.1 documents through Windows XP
I have changed word processing programs from DOS-based to Windows-based programs, but still need to access the old WP 5.1 documents. I am having trouble searching the documents through Windows, i.e., searching for a person's name, etc. inside the document.  Do you have any suggestions?
What file extension do this WP5.1 documents have?
If they're not saved as .doc, Word won't be able to search them; however, you can open them individually with Word.
My Documents is a folder, not a program.

Are documents set to print getting hung up
.
Are we talking Word documents or...

are you typing directly into Meditech or Cerner or a system like that?

You have dragon scan your documents and -
it picks up words it does not know and has you train them, and it also recognizes words that you use more than others.
It's your responsibility to give them their documents on disk/CD!

Thanks to you all!!! Mine was under Documents&Settings, then Home. :)

When bringing up old documents in Extext, Ctrl S,
I think I missed a step.  I hit ctrl S, put in patient's name (in this case) and then click find, or quick find.  Then, it brings up a list of the patient's admission.  Then, what do I hit to bring up the document?  The options on the right side are statistics and close?  I tried to highlight and double click the admission but nothing.  Need some help here....Thanks
Instant Text will expand whole documents
Instant Text will expand whole documents.  IT will all so take a bunch of reports and create shortcuts from those reports for you so you do not have to individually create your own.  Of course, you can create your own if you like also.  The only thing that ITdoes not have that it should is a suggestion box that follows your cursur.
Which ones pull in the green?

Which ones are you gals/guys transcribing that you are able to do 200-300/hour?  I have condensed it down to ops and maybe radiology.  What are the most awesome expansion accounts in your opinion-copy and paste if you will!!

Is there anybody transcribing this amount of lines on acute or multi specialty?  Specialty, a single specialty, I could believe.  Ops I can believe.  Haven't done rad so don't know.  What are the best "COPY AND PASTE" situations you know of?

I donated, but did not get to pull from
