In Word you can use shift - end to highlight to

Try ctrl+shift+left arrow to highlight the last word
then Alt + J to open AutoCorrect, type your Replace word, and tab to OK and hit the Enter key.

Make sure you don't have any extra spaces when you highlight.

Hold down Ctrl and Shift and use right arrow to highlight one word at a time. sm
You can highlight noncontiguous words by holding down on Ctrl and selecting different words.
Shift end will highlight the line, but you need F8, then hit period key to highlight full sentence,
You can use F8 and hit any letter or punctuation mark you want to go to. Hit the escape key to turn off F8.

Shift and arrow keys only highlight single characters.

highlight the first word you want, hold the Ctrl key down, and highlight the next, etc. nm

One *does* need to use the Shift key to highlight words as Shelly asked. sm
Ctrl and the right arrow key goes to the next word *without* highlighting. You might want to read Shelly's original post again.
I don't use the mouse. I use Cntl+end key to highlight a sentence.Shift and the arrow key will do

Shift right arrow - highlight the entire sentence and delete! Not sure there is a
ctrl key to do entire sentence, but I will look and get back to you.

Well - no. Shift arrow down will highlight my entire line and then delete.
Don't know what you are talking about - I never use F8 in Word.

f8 is called extend mode. I meant Shift right and left arrows only highlight characters. sm
You can find more help about extend mode in Word's help file.
You can still highlight your word and press Alt-T-A to... sm
get to the Autocorrect dialog box in 2007. Your highlighted text is already in the With box. Just type your abbreviation and tab to the OK button and hit Enter. A lot of the old shortcuts still work even though the menus are no longer on the ribbon.
Type whatever word/phrase, bold, highlight, sm--

Just open glo file in Word, highlight all, then change case and save back
to glo file. Use the Alt key trick to highlight just the column of words, then Shift + F3 to toggle through the change case commands. First save your glossary under a different name so you also keep the original.
You can highlight the entire list and use the convert text to table option in Word. You can highligh
You'll want to convert with 4 columns because you have a paragraph between each address. That paragraph will wind up in the 4th column. When you're done, you can highlight that column and delete it.

30 day pay cycles....

Hi All ~

I have a client who wants to put me on 30-day pay cyles where work done from the 1st thru the end of the month would be invoiced on the 1st of the following month and paid on the last day of that month.  Basically, if I don't agree to this, I will lose the client...UGH!

Now, my question is this....how many of you MTSO's pay your MTs once/month?  Are your MTs ok with this?

I've been sitting here racking my brain on how I could work it so that the MTs still get paid twice/month, but I can't seem to figure this out!  The is a LARGE account, so I have to be careful in over-extending myself before my pay comes in for my client.

Do any of you have some advice for me on how I can adjust the cycles to keep everyone happy?

I believe that you can be more fertile after a miscarriage.
I was told to wait three cycles, but went ahead and started trying. Took almost a year before I got
Please make sure your OB does an ultrasound to check that all products of conception are gone. I had a D&C, and had no problems. A friend of mine who went to a different OB/GYN did not have a D&C and had numerous problems because her body did not rid itself of all products of conception. She had a terribly hard time getting pregnant again.

Extext highlight
It sounds like you might have toggled off your select function.  Press your shift bar and then try to select with your mouse to see if that works.
You can also highlight the text you want
to change and hit Control K - same thing is something is already in all caps and you want to change it to either just an initial cap or to all lower case. It works like a toggle switch.
can't highlight text in ExText
Hi all. Today just started an acct that uses ExText/TransNet. I already have Word 2000 on my machine. (Their version of ExText says in 'about' that it is also 2000) When I get in a chart in ExText, I can't use my mouse anywhere on the document or even the vertical scroll bar to the right. I *can* use it on any of the menu items across the horizontal toolbar at the top of the document but CANNOT select bits of text to highlight and move around or copy/paste or whatever. Anyone else hear of this happening? I've seen some other posts here talking about versions of Word (2003?) being incompatible with ExText but I know someone else who is using ExText for the same account and who also already had pre-existing Word 2000 on their machine, with no problems. Is there a setting or something I need to toggle or untoggle or ......?? Any help would be very greatly appreciated, please email me. Thanks so much!

I contract with several companies/doctors, and I highlight the...

discrepancy (bold it) as well as underline it.  I also add a note at the bottom like this:

NOTE:  Age discrepancy. (Or medication discrepancy, etc.).

If needed, I am more specific.

Every account I transcribe likes this approach, and my QA people have actually adopted this technique, requiring their other MTs to do this.

I know not every account will find this acceptable, but it's been working well for me for years now.

If you right click the folder, it should highlight it and give you
a drop down menue with the option to rename. Let me know if that helps...
highlight the text and hit Ctrl Shft A or hit that key combo
before you type your text and hit it again when you're done. This works in any Word version.
hit left Shift key 3 times, then right Shift key 3 times -
nm
if can't copy/paste, highlight text, ctrl/x, go to shorthand, ctrl/V
nm
First highlight the text too add, then hit Ctrl+insert+insert..sm

All you need to do then is assign the shortcut name and hit alt+O or click on OK.

HTH

Highlight the text and hit Ctrl-insert-insert...
then all you have to do is type in what you want to use as the shortcut.
Microsoft Word.. The oold Word used to do this and I'm new to 2003 Word..nm

1st, 2nd, 3rd shift????
My husband is a correctional officer, and his 1st shift is considered 12 am - 8 am, 2nd is 8 am - 4 pm, and 3rd is 4 pm - 12 am.  I get the impression that most MT companies consider 1st shift as day shift, 2nd as evening and 3rd as 12 am - morning hours.  Can anyone clarify this for me?  Thanks.
Just put another pot on for my 2nd shift of the day! nm

Shift F9...
Type is RAD this weekend and mine was shift F9, which will bring up menu with spell check selection, which will give an info window, return and then it will start. But as mentioned always be at the top of report or it will say "done" as it does not automatically start from top. If this does not work use your F1 Help menu to find it.
Third shift
I was just working third shift and my hours were 11 pm to 7:30 am. Another coworker who also works third shift works 9 pm to 5:30 am. I think it varies by company. I hated third shift. I guess others love it, I was not one of them. I was on it for a year and a half and never could adjust to it. I would think long and hard before taking another third shift position, because it is so hard to get off third shift. But, like I said, there are many others that love third shift.
3rd shift
When I was on that shift, I would get away from my desk, walk around a bit, wash my face and get another cup of coffee.
Try to take a nap right before your shift (sm)
if you can, say even 20 minutes.  Track the times you get up in the morning (or during the day if you work 3rd shift).  If you can sleep a little later, this will help by the end of the day.  I like to snack while I work, but to stay awake, I can't eat a thing!
Shift+F9.

1st night on 3rd shift and still
but i started at 11 p.m., and notice that my line count for first hour was credited to yesterdays work.  so -- is this just a fact of life for 3rd shifters?
Cherrypicking at end of shift
What about when you just have a little bit of time left on your shift and you want to shuffle through and pick up some short jobs instead of the 25-minute psych report or the long consult that will put you way over your shift?

Shift Lead MT/QA
In this position currently at 15.00 per hour.
How do you adjust to a 3rd shift job? nm
nm
split shift
split shifts are great!  you will do much, much better if you split your 8 hours up by 4 and 4.  Early in the day and then late evening are usually the best.
What exactly is a shift lead MT?

night shift
My life currently revolves around babysitting my 15 month old grandson all day, somedays he arrives at 5:30 a.m., others it is 7:00 a.m. stays with me anywhere until 2:00 to 5:00 pm. (his mom is in nursing school with somewhat irregular hours depending on her clinical days). I get on and transcribe from 7:00 p.m. until midnight or sometimes 1:00 a.m. five days a week. I absolutely force myself to take a one hour nap before my shift starts(never more than 1 hour). It helps so much. At first it was hard to do, but it really does help me stay awake and now it is almost natural to do it. Darken the room and keep away from the TV, unplug the phone. Of course, I can't live without caffeine either. Good luck with you new job/new shift
Shift question

I don't want to appear ignorant but I have always worked M-F.  Now am getting ready to look for a new position and am curious if I work third shift Sunday thru Thursday, I guess that means 11 o'clock Saturday night to 7 Sunday morning or does it mean 11 o'clock Sunday night (which would actually be Monday morning)  Thanks

Your company might consider 4/5p-12a.m. to be second shift, tho'. Better ask.

Night Shift
I have a 3 year old and I work late hours, but they seem to work for me. I work for a few hours in the a.m. and then I go back to work after she goes to sleep and work until about 4:00 a.m. I take Friday nights off. I've been doing this for so long it's second nature. I usually sleep from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays my husband lets me sleep in. I also have a soon to be 13 year old and she's very helpful on weekend mornings. Once she goes to pre-school I'll change my work hours.
