Nope..the almighty bottle came first with my EX

After 25 yrs, along with 4 before that of dating then he decides the bottle is more important....well it was & still is and I got outta there

The baby has to eat, whether breast or bottle
feeding.  This is a time in their lives that you will only have just once and no matter how much you wish to have it again, it will never be.   I breast-fed my youngest 30 minutes, every 30 minutes it seemed.   It can be done if you have the right attitude and you have some flexibility in your job and your SO is willing to help out.
The 'Genie' (internet) is out of the bottle, but - (sm)
the medical world seems to think that in the case of MTs, they can return ours to the bottle.

We have it. We like it. And we're never gonna give it up.
try Listerine in a spray bottle
it works in my car.  I had problems with ants getting in the car during summer. I was told to spray (soak) the carpet, and WA la... no more ants!!
I agree with mac. You might want to buy a BIG bottle of Excedrin before starting but the more you
type them the easier it gets.  I also write down the phrases, which helps and have example reports.  The words I usually do get stumped on too are the English words we use everyday.  Keeping trying and they will get lots easier
the extra bottle for the shampoo is an excellent idea
I could prob do that for just about every soap I use.
The water bottle is a very good training tool

for cats (squart guns too).  Get a good scratching post and rub it with catnip.  I use double-sided tape that I get from the Foster&Smith website and the cats leave my furniture alone.  (I have 4 cats).  The log is a nice idea too...messy but nice in addition to scratching posts and such.

Not all combs/brushes are created equal and I have found that the curry-comb type work best.  They are sometimes called a shedding comb.  It is in the shape of a loop with a handle.  I put a towel on the floor and go to town!  In the spring I can get a cat-sized ball of fur off of them using this comb.  Regular combing will really help keep your house cleaner.  You still need to use a roller or duct tape placed around your hand to remove it from your furniture on a regular basis.  Good luck.

kid drinks in college
And what are you gonna do if you kid does drink at college??  Kidnap him/her and deprogram them?  They are adults when they are in college.  I would hope by the time a child gets to be 17, 18, they have been taught right from wrong and no I would not want to know if my child was partying and drinking in college.  They are living a normal young adults life.  I would want to know he/she is having fun and doing their studies and, of course, if they became a drug addict or alcoholic, they I will be there but normal partying for young adults, Im okay with that..better than being tied to my apron strings.
People should have powdered formula/mild. Mix it up one bottle at a time.

you don't want to know if your child drinks at college? (sm)
I am praying for you and your daughter. Honey, you had better get your head out of the sand and make it perfectly clear to your daughter, whether at college, home, friends, etc, it is not a good idea for a young girl to drink and lose control or insight into what is going on around her.  That is just asking for something horrible to happen.  Please talk to your daughter! Don't turn your back on something potentially dangerous to your child! When all is said and done, she is still your child, your responsibility, and God forbid something horrible happens to her, you will be blamed.
My gma is 87 years old and drinks a beer a day...
She still mows her own lawn, takes care of herself and her home and doesn't have any problems.  She's always been very fit, eaten right, didn't smoke, but when people ask her what her secret is, she swears it is the can of beer she drinks with dinner every night.  She's had cataracts but other than that she hasn't had any health problems and takes no medication.
thanks but no sweet drinks (diabetic) *S*...NM
.
My kitty drinks out of the toliet as well!
This is my first cat so I'm new to all of this, having dogs all my life. I bet your cat will come back home. My mother's cat goes off all the time and comes back weeks later.
Only 1 cup, but I'm addicted to monster drinks. nm

It is hard to work for someone who drinks, and even worse
when they don't think they are an alcoholic. It really fries their brain, they are moody and unpredictable, and fly off the handle for no real reason.
My DH drinks 8-12 light beers a day, though he is trying to cut back - sm
but he's been doing it for over 20 years, so I would not be surprised if cirrhosis shows itself. He is in good health, for now. I don't buy him beer anymore since I was enabling him and he did ask me to stop, so that has helped a lot in him cutting back. I think we only have 1 beer in the house tonight so that is good!
Energy drinks. Caffeine and sugar, sm
and all kinds of vitamins. I like the Sobe one. I even drink it in the morning now, instead of coffee.
Staying Focused -Energy Drinks
I am having a huge problem.  I cannot seem to find the energy to work all day.  This sounds so bad because I sit all day!  Seriously though, it feels like I get so bored sitting here at the computer.  When I drink some of a Nos energy drink, however, work is so fun, I have tons of energy, and I make a lot of money sitting here.  I love this work, but what's the deal?  I don't even like consuming caffeine.  I got an energy drink the other night to stay up all night and finish some STATs, and now I feel like I can't work without it.  It was hard to focus even before I started the caffeine.  What is going on here?    Why can't I just get my work done like a normal person?
PA dictates patient drinks "a gallon" of liquor a day.
I hear people drinking a pint or 1/5 a day, but a GALLON.  The guy is only 45.
If you try caffeinated drinks, make sure to use Equal or Splenda.

wine

I'm not a Transcriptionist yet (still a student, but OLD hehe), my feelings are there's nothing wrong with the occasional glass of wine.  I'd drink it, but I haven't found a wine I like enough for a 2nd glass.  I occasionally have a bit stiffer drink, but once I start working I won't drink 'my' drinks, since they not only relax me, they send to to sleepy-land.  I know several professionals (in other fields) that have a glass of wine when dictating, making notes, preparing briefs, etc.  Its not unheard of.  My feeling is, as long as the limitations are noted and observed what's the harm?  IF it affects your work, time to knock it off.

Hopefully, we're all adults and able to make reasonable judgments on this subject.

(did I sound nice enough? that was my goal!! LOL)

WINE

I agree that we shouldn't judge others. Sometimes I need a drink while working, but unfortunately I would fall asleep with one small glass of wine.  I do however know an MT who drinks a lot while working.....I mean a lot...(she has a problem sadly), but the fact remains that even then she is a better MT than most I know.  So I guess everybody's different.  Wine is good for the nerves and the STESS LEVEL....

My son loves Monster drinks before football/basketball practice. I think they are nasty.
I don't drink coffee, but I have to have my Coca Cola first thing in the morning and one more halfway through day.  So I guess I am a little dependent on caffeine!
are you having wine with dinner?
just curious but your posts are not making much sense. not that there's anything wrong with wine with dinner, it's just maybe not so wise to post on MT boards when you are so "relaxed".
Beef in Wine
Brown roast.
In separate pot cook two onions, two cloves garlic, two stalks celery, chopped, two carrots, in butter until soft. Add to meat. Mix 2 cups of tomato puree and 2 cups red wine. Add a tablespoon of salt, 10 whole peppercorns, 2 bay leaves. Cook on top of stove until tender, about 3 to 4 hours. Do the day before. The next day clean up the meat and slice it. Serve over noodles. It is delicious.
Glass of wine
I did not mean to start a war.  I know the difference between a glass of wine and a "problem with drinking" as my father was an alcoholic as well as ex-husband.  And just to let you know the open bottle that I opened Sunday evening for my glass is still in the wine case/holder with one glass missing.  I will probably have to throw it out as I usually have one glass and forget that it is there to finish it.  Would not make a good alcoholic as I forget to continue to drink -- just my one beer or one glass of wine every couple of weeks.  Also, I usually wait until I am very near completion of my work before I "pop" the cork.  But again, did not mean to start a war.
Glass of wine
Patti, unfortunately on this board lately, anything can start a war.

Like you, I sometimes start sipping a glass the last 30-60 mins. of my shift - about once a month. Ignore the hostile postings - some of these people read 2 words, take it out of context, and post in response to things that weren't even said.

Personally, I'm glad you posted because I felt a little guilty about sipping an ounce or 2 while working - I grew up in an alcohol-free home, but I certainly saw what alcoholism did to some of my friends' families.
After years of drinking diet drinks, I am off Nutrisweet, Splenda, etc. due to health reasons..sm
but I really don't want to drink sugar drinks/juices and cannot stand water!  Does anyone have any drink suggestions?  I am at a loss.  TIA
Add cheeseburgers and wine to the menu! nm

A glass of wine with typing

A while back there were several messages when someone made a halfway joke about drinking and I never answered but I do have to admit that when I sometimes have to work on Sunday nights or some late evenings I do sip on a glass of wine while typing, not an entire bottle but a glass of wine.  Just thought I would not comment on it as several people were shocked that anyone would even consider it.  Not all the time but occasionally and in moderation.

That is my Sunday comment.

Opening up Pandora's box of wine
Hey Patti, it's ok to talk about drinking and transcribing. People react strongly because it hits a raw nerve. It's a topic that is kept in the dark. I suspect many transcriptionists do and have drank at the desk. I myself have had a small glass of wine on occasion when I have been so stressed out, like when I have been given a 30-day notice that my work is going to India! Or my foreign-accented dictator yells at me for something stupid! I venture to say that perhaps more transcriptionists have a glass or two of liquor toward the end of their shift than they would care to admit. I just think you got such a response because it is a topic most transcriptionists have thought about in one way or another. I'm not saying it is ok or it is morally wrong. It does happen though.
No bible? No wine? Wait......
I, for one, choose death!
sean connary, chocolate, white wine
that would be perfect.

OMG that is so true. I love their rhubarb wine. I known it sounds
The Amanas rocks.
Chicken In Wine Sauce (Easy and Quick)
Melt about 6 TBLSP butter in skillet.  Sprinkle boneless, skinless chicken breasts with garlic salt and any other seasonings that you like, dust in flour and brown in butter for about 5 minutes or so, just till a little brown (to your liking).  Put together 1/2 cup white cooking wine, 2 teaspoons roasted chopped garlic (I buy it already chopped), 2 TBLSP lemon juice (I use bottled Real Lemon), and 2 TBLSP dried parsley.  Fresh is good too but I just never have it around.  Dump this on the chicken in the skillet and put a lid on it and simmer for 6 minutes.  Throw a bag of precooked microwave rice in the microwave, plop some on the plate, put the chicken on top and spoon some sauce over it.  Very tasty and ready in less than 30 minutes.  My kind of dinner !!! If you use more than about 4 pieces of chicken breast increase the butter to 8 TBLSP.  I am sure that Parkay (or whatever) would work just as well but I use butter and be done with it.  I usually have broccoli or some other green veggie and a salad with it.  I use my Breadman a lot so I usually have hot rolls as well.
except I love cooking w/alcohol/wine in sauces!!
.
Onion soup mix, 1/2 cup Madiera wine, carrots, potatoes.

Cook roast slowly (325 for about 3 hours, add the potatoes and carrots, cook another hour, and serve.

Or just slice onions on top the roast, add about 1/2 cup water, put in covered dutch oven, cook same as above, adding potatoes and carrots.
How about grilled fish like salmon? Add a glass of wine and you're all set!

Office lunches come to mind, the whole crew would have a glass of wine
We managed to get through the Friday afternoon following the glass of wine. It's holiday time, birthday time, retirement time. Rare - RARE - occasions. I remember the doctors have a very very slight slur LOL. I probably lost a keystroke or two on my speed. The nurses were happier that usual. The secretaries laughed for a change. It's all good.
My family's not into hard liquor. Beer on one side and wine on the other.
Ugh. I only "like" to drink alcohol maybe once a month.
The blackberry wine made by Amana Colonies is really good, too. sm
I have two bottles now in the frig. It don't take much, either, to anesthetize the pain.
Strawberry Wine by Deanna Carter (not my all-time favorite, but at the top) nm

Here's a tip: Put fabric softener and hot water in spray bottle and spray the paper down. Works

Merlot, white zin, chardonnay, sometimes daily 1 wine glass with din-din. Maybe 2 if I am thirsty
No alcoholic tendencies.
Any plans for Mother's Day? Hubby is taking me on a wine & dinner train ride.

Skip Christmas Day and do drinks/snacks Christmas
Eve and spend a peaceful Christmas doing whatever it is you want to do.  If you're all of 47 years old you're evidently a slow learner  : )
Hope you're gonna have a glass of wine while you're relaxing

in your spa goodies. Congrats!

I can type with wine, can't type with coffee, though...too jittery.
