Is Keystrokes a good company for any work type other than radiology? sm

I have seen really good reports on this board (and others) about Keystrokes being the place to be for radiology but have really not seen much discussion regarding other work types.  I am primarily interested in op notes as I understand they will only hire if you have spent the last several years in a particular work type and ops are it for me.  I wonder about their platform, pay scale, flexibility, whether or not weekend work is required, etc.  I have left my email address in case anyone would like to privately email me.  I would really appreciate some input.  Thank you.

Radiology Work-Keystrokes

Any information on Keystrokes radiology.  They have several adds with different formats.  One I might be interested in but afraid to take the plunge.  I have done work for the same two radiologists for 10 years and know what they are going to say before they say it.  What is their rate of pay and are there many ESL?

Good - Keystrokes, MDI-MD, Acusis, Silent Type. Bad - MQ, MDI-FL, Transolutions, Healthscribe. nm

The company I USED to work for changed how keystrokes were SM
counted without telling us. This went gradually on over a period of months. Because my work hours were rather erratic (largely due to not enough work available--they were offshoring our accounts without telling us too), I preferred to assume my lowered production speed had to do with that. And went through the same confused and upset period as everyone else, thinking/wishing/hoping I could cure the problem by working better.

I'm at fault for not recognizing what was happening much sooner and demanding an answer, thus setting myself up for abuse. The questions I finally asked--out of curiosity about what they would say because I had had already learned the truth--were responded to with careful evasions and total failure to disclose.

I did ultimately leave that company for these reasons.

We can--have to, after all--accept that the rapid changes brought by new technologies and methods of increased production require changes in how the counts are done, and that these changes may be fairly and appropriately calibrated.

We do not not have to, and should not, accept not being told it's being done or being mislead or lied about what's happening. Best wishes.
I type radiology, but have done some clinic work
I briefly tried acute care, but felt that was a little too hard to do working from home. I have done some clinic work, which worked out fine. The hardest part of that was learning lab values, specific tests, etc. I feel your pain, as it is very difficult to transition. I've done cardiology, internal medicine, and nephrology clinic notes and have done well with them. Things like wound care can get a little tricky because of all of the terminology with bandages, sutures, etc. My advice would be to get some reference books and maybe try to find a part time job, where your livelihood would not depend on the account, and give it a try! With this job, you won't know if you can do it until you try! I know it's hard with the national companies. They don't like to take time to help you learn. I learned my clinic stuff from local doctor's offices, where they gave me sample reports and I could take as much time as I needed to look stuff up. I wish you luck!
Does anyone know of a good company for radiology...
with non-teaching hospitals and decent rates?
Good company for Radiology
WEBMEDX - and they are hiring Radiology MTs right now.
Which is the best company to work for that specializes in Radiology?
I would like to know which company is the best to work specializing in Radiology, using Word, for a Transcriptionist with 20+ years experience.  Thank you.
Keystrokes is the best out there for radiology. They may have some sm
negative posts here but I love radiology and they are the best that I have found with plenty of work.
I would say go for it. Keystrokes is the best I have found for radiology. nm

I cannot say about their other work though. My checks were correct except once, and it was fixed within 2 days. My direct deposit has been on time all but one one time and that was one day and we got an email about it beforehand and knew that it was going to be late and why (the payroll person entered the direct deposit posting date wrong). The only other check problem (not really a problem) I ever had was that I got a double deposit but it was taken back out within a few days.

I have a lot of work on my account and a back-up account for slow times. I do 125-135 reports a day in 8 hours but my fingers are not as fast as when I was younger.

My accounts have a good mix of ESL and EFL radiologists. I actually prefer a few of the ESL ones to the EFL ones.

My team lead on one account is great; the team lead on my other account is a joke but I rarely have contact with her.

I have tried about 8 other companies (embarassing to someone who was at the same hospital for 12 years) and like Keystrokes the best.
Does Keystrokes hire PT radiology MTs?

Radiology transcription, what type of reports are considered radiology
I have lot of experience with everything and I would like to know what exactly is considered radiology so I know if I qualify for that type of work?  I've had many types that I think qualify for radiology.
Silent Type is not a bad company to work for but

Depending on how many pages you type determines what your page rate is and everyone gets paid the same because of it. Obviously, like with any other company the more you produce, the more money you will make.  Bi-annual bonuses, again based on your production.  Starts at 40 page per day min (which is supposed to be 1000 lines) is $1.50.  I think it does to 1.80 per page somewhere around 80 pages per day.

Not sure about the benefits (health insurance).  You get paid every other week. Not a very large company, maybe 400 or less TLs.

If you like working for a friendly, family atmosphere, check it out.

WebmedX, Keystrokes, Axolotl uses Speed Type which
is just another name for ShortHand.
ks is Keystrokes, an MT company.

Lots and lots of abbreviations, most if you think about it will are obvious -

nt - no text

KWIM  - know what I mean

ITA - I totally agree

HTH - hope this helps

Good Company to Work For
I really need to make a change.  Can those of you out there that REALLY LIKE the company you work for send me a line?  I have already applied to quite a few, and now it's decision time.  I appreciate any input you can give me.    Thanks in advance!    PJ
SS is a good company. I work as QA though so I don't know from
an MT perspective on the work load. Been with them almost a year.
So, who's a good company to work for?
I have 8 years of experience in many MT specialties. What are the best companies that are HIRING? TIA.
I currently work for Transhealth. I tihnk it is a good company.
:)
I need help finding a good company with steady work..sm
that pays a minimum of 10 cents a line.  I have been an MT for 27 years and I take pride in my work.  Things have changed at my current company and cherry pickers have taken over so I end up doing all the reports no one else wants to do.  This takes me longer and my line count is suffering.  I know there have to be good companies out there that pay well and need good employees.  I have left my email address if anyone would like to offer me some hope and share names of companies.  Please no flames, I am just an honest MT wanting an honest job with decent compensation. Thanks for any help.
Keystrokes is good. nm

Local radiology company, not transcription company
who has only 5 transcriptionists and are not hiring at this moment. We all work at home and get great benefits, no insurance out of pocket and 22 days paid vacation in the first year, after that it goes up. I feel very fortunate to have found them, but again I chose them because they did not do production, so now that they are, I'm a little disappointed.
It's possible. I type Radiology IC and
make anywhere from $4000-$6000 a month. Really depnds on how many reports I want to do each week.
Any suggestions for a good MT for part time other than MQ as far as a nice company to work for. I
think it is time for a change about now.
Keystrokes - Lanier system - anyone work on it?
nm
Keystrokes does not and will not send work out of the United States. nm
nm
Thanks for your input. We type regular medical reports in Meditech and radiology in Cerner. SM

I am really considering presenting the idea that we measure productivity on minutes transcribed instead of lines.  I don't know if management will go for it, but it seems like the best scenario considering all the trouble we've had.

Thanks again!

there is a radiology transcription company in NY - but you
have to live in NY or NJ or even into CT or PA to work for them. But it has to be close to NYC.
how about looking for a company that pays radiology reports by report and not line? nm
x
$1.25 to $2 good for radiology?

I am used to being paid per line and am wondering if $1.25 to $2 per report is good for radiology?  This company tells me that the average report is 30 lines so I am guessing it is not just general x-ray reports.

Thanks

iChart for radiology...good, bad?
Is iChart a productive platform while doing radiology report?  Any info appreciated.  TIA
What is a good line rate for radiology?
Currently being paid by report, 10 years experience. TIA
BTW, what R some good companies 4 radiology pay-wise? nm

$2.75 report good for radiology transcription?
Wondering if that is a good rate.  Thanks.
Good of the company? As IC, I am my own company. Not my problem if she has problems as long as I do
:P
nm would you mind if I asked where you work and what type of work hosp, clinic ?
x
Is $1.20 per report plus paid for links good for radiology? nm
/
I work for them. I am happy. I know that they have a lot of radiology but I
do clinic work. I have plenty of work and get paid well. I do not need benefits as my DH is military, but I have heard that they are average.
Does the company you type for know what happened?

Maybe they have something else you could do for a couple of weeks...QA, proofread, maybe a special project they have had on the back burner?  It would be worth a try to ask.  Good luck to you.

Can you make good money with radiology? I'm thinking of switching
nm
If a company has you type on straight Word..
is there any way to put your own Expander software with that and if so, what is recommended.  I have always had the company supply the software including expanders, but wondered if there is a way to use these in Microsoft Word.  Thanks for any help!!!
14.00/hr for radiology private contractor job/PT, internet based. Good dictation.

When he said we pay by the hour not the line, I was unprepared to give him my fee!   I typed for these rads when I worked at the hospital so know them well.  About two hours per day of work for their outpatient imaging center (MRIs, CTs, mammograms, ultrasounds).

Thanks!

I work in Meditech for a radiology account and have no lag time. sm
There are a few things to try that might help. The first is to try to go through an NT connection if possible through their Citrix. Another is: Disable your virus protection, log in and re-enable the virus protection. I have found this solved my problem.

I am also answering your cut and paste question from your other post: It is HIPPA as the possibility of putting the wrong report on the wrong patient exists. However, I would go above or beyond your company's IS dept (they tend to be the most paranoid) and go to a production person such a Lead or Coordinator or even MTSO. If they are MTs, they tend to be more sympathetic and will often allow cut and paste when IS will not. If you are the only person experiencing this, IS is not going to be too diligent in helping. Worst case scenario? Ask for another account. Sometimes it is an account-specific, computer-specific problem, almost like putting the wrong size tape in a tape player.
I do radiology now, paid by the hour, work from home, can it get any easier than that?

If there is a company out there that let's you type on a blank page, I haven't found it. I
been an MT for 13 years now and worked at home for about 11 of those years and never found a company that I felt truly treated their MT's fair.
You don't want to work for this company. Call your current company and
tell them that you have decided against the new position and tell them that you would like to stay. It is cheaper for them to let you stay than to train someone new. A company who could be so tacky as the one you just spoke of is one you do not want to work for. You can rescind your resignation. If you are a good MT, they will be glad you did.
All I know is it caused the company I work for to be unable to do all work due today and the rest
:+
That's a good idea, but when I type exclusively
and don't move from my chair or do anything on the net still down 50-100 lines an hour from old platform. More likely because we don't get paid for header info anymore (even though they said we would). I think it takes longer to do the searches than just type in the info..........
I think how accurately you type is a better indication of a good MT!
.
i used to work for a company that divided the work types up and i loved it. sm
there were only 4 of us working a major teaching hospital. someone was assigned surgery, different assigned discharges, different admits, etc. we all had the backup work type in case the original assignee wasn't available and were cross trained. it made us much more efficient, ability to get used to dictators, set macros, and in the long run we were all much happier.
The company I work for said cable phone wouldn't work, just FYI.
