So sorry for the loss of your precious family member -
My sister's lab has been attacked twice while on a leash in front of his own yard by a pit bull. The attacking dog seems to never been on a leash. Her lab had part of his mouth ripped open and required numerous stitches to reattach it, plus some bites to his back. Something needs to be done to stop people from breeding pit bulls with these temperments!
A good laugh - life is still precious!
If this doesn't make you laugh - nothing will.

kitty
So glad he is okay. Had a similar episode with Stuart a kitty we adopted in July. He had cold-like symptoms and weighed less than 1 pound. Took atbc, Lysine and eye drops and is now fine. Hope you have the same results.

not sure what heppened - validated email and my post did not appear - anyway - kittens and cats are susceptable to blood disorders, tragic but true - I am an avid cat lover, kitty blood from my grams in me - keep us posted - OK?

Possible Solution For Kitty
I have a female cat who does the same thing. She tries to use her box and never attempts to do her business anywhere else in the house. She just has a little problem determining her positioning in the box. I have a big roll of 33-gallon plastic garbage bags and use these under the box. If Miss Kitty misses and pees over the edge, I just remove the plastic garbage bag and dispose of it and put a new one down. These cats are trying to do the right thing, but they just have a little trouble...LOL. Also, I agree that a bigger, uncovered box might be a good idea for your big boy. Good luck!
Big kitty troubles...
I also have a big kitty though not quite as big as yours. He does not quite seem to get his rear in to do his number two business either and it always ends up on the floor in front of the box. I have a regular size litter box and my mother has said they come in larger sizes and has suggested trying this. I plan to purchase one ASAP! He never goes on the floor and is very clean otherwise.

To the other poster who suggested just throw him outside, to some that would be like throwing a family member out of the house; I could never even consider that. There are other options and I know my kitty does not do this on purpose, he just needs an adjustment made to meet his particular needs. Good luck in finding what works for you and your big furry friend!
Sorry about your kitty, glad he's better. (SM)
I have 2 cats. When they were kittens they sat in my lap together, then they switched to the monitor. One of them still dominates the monitor and is hovering like Snoopy in Vulture Mode right now! I could not venture a guess how much cat hair must be in there! Anyway, it is one of the reasons I will try to stay working at home - KITTIES!

LOL I can relate. I have a naughty little kitty, too.
The house can be so quiet during the day with the kids and husband all gone. Then kitty decides it's time to play. He likes to try to get my Betta fish out of the bowl. He pounces on my dogs to get them to chase him around and around the house. He tries to claw the walls, furniture or carpet. He rubs against me and wants to be held. He jumps up on my keyboard or lap. He can't play with his toys. Oh, no! He's got to bug me. Sometimes, he's so frustratingly attention seeking that I have to stick him in "his" room until I'm done working. He used to sleep in a cubby hole on my desk when he was a tiny kitty. Now, he's so big that he knocks things over. The worst one was when he jumped up on my desk and knocked over a vase full of flowers and water. Crack, splash! All over everything.
Did anybody else see this poor kitty picture?

Copy and paste, you will be amazed and sad at the same time.

Your kitty is a beauty! Enjoyed your

blog.  Like the others, it made me appreciate what I have so much.  Your "little corner of the world" where you work looks so much like mine.  I, too, have my bird feeders and bird bath to look out at.  I also have two kitties who are my "co-workers".  Tip (angel in Thai), my ?-percent Siamese kitty is sleeping right next to my keyboard right now.  Taz (yes, a little black and white devil) stepped away for a while.  Sometimes I get so mad and hate transcription, but we really have to count our blessings.  Working in the comfort and safety of our home with our animal pals and family close by is worth its weight in gold!!! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face, MTBlab.

MissouriMT - could we have a kitty update?
I posted below, not sure if you saw it though.
My kitty is sick and I don't know anything about cats.

He's about 3 or 4 months old.  He is a very playful kitty.  Usually attacking my ankles or feet when I work, attacking the dog's tail, etc.  A couple of days ago he just wasn't himself.  Laying around, not playful at all.  Yesterday and last night, he threw up three times, and today he basically laid in the same spot all day long sleeping and barely moving.  I'm not sure when was the last time he used the litter box.  I took him to the vet and they are keeping him overnight.  They indicated he was pretty sick because he didn't resist having his blood taken or being poked on and he didn't try to groom himself after they were done.  We haven't had him long.  We adopted from the animal shelter.  He was the only survivor of his litter and the momma cat was killed by a car.

I am really bummed for my kids.  We just lost our cat and dog this past winter in a house fire and I just don't know how my kids are going to react if something is wrong with our new kitty.

My kitty drinks out of the toliet as well!
This is my first cat so I'm new to all of this, having dogs all my life. I bet your cat will come back home. My mother's cat goes off all the time and comes back weeks later.
cord biting kitty
I have a cat who has chewed through my foot pedal cord, and I had to go to the store and buy a cored protector to put over the original cord.  I have black electrical tape on most of all my other computer-related cords.  Finally, I purchased some stuff at the pet store called Indoor Bitter End.  I cut the power to everything and carefully sprayed it on all my cords, obviously avoiding exposed wires, plugs, and outlets.  I can say that she hasn't chewed on any of them since I sprayed them!  I type in the basement and know that sometimes it's impossible to confine a cat or kitten and since they have a short attention span are not easily trainable.  Maybe this will help.
My vet told me kitty has to be over 3 pounds--sm
before it can be spade, but since most kitties don't get adopted as soon as they are 6 weeks old, I think that is just a standard on the SPCA site you visited. I waited until my little girl kittie was 6 months old before I had her spade. If the SPCA is specifying six weeks after adoption, it is probably because they are offering some kind of discount if it is done by then.
My kitty likes to sneak under my chair.
He'll brush the tip of his tail every so softly on my leg so I think it's a bug or something.  When I smack at it, he rubs under my hand for pets.  Little weirdo.  He likes to lick my toes, too.  Icky sandpaper tongue.  LOL
That is such good news, I am sooooo happy for you and Tom Kitty

Update on Tom kitty - we brought him home Saturday and he is back to his playful self today. SM

I brought him home from the vet on Saturday.  He was still running a temperature, but it was much lower - 103.  It had been 106 when we took him to the vet.  He was still lethargic, but had started to groom himself.  I have antibiotics I have to give him twice a day, by Sunday afternoon he was becoming playful again and was drinking a lot more and started to eat more.  Today, he is back to his old self.  Attacking my PC wires and walking on my keyboard, trying to get my fingers when I type.

I am so relieved!

I would have loved to own a floral shop, catering business, and photography studio that specializes in weddings.  Now, I'm too broke to take classes in photography or start my own business.  I should have done it while I had the chance, but I was too secure with the money I was making before and thought it was a lucrative field to be in.

Owner....

The owner
should be happy you left a blank if you weren't sure of it. It's much better to blank than to guess on somethin, and even people in the business a long time have issues when beginning something new.

OV/owner
I have 15 years experience and when I first read your note, even I had to stop and scratch my head for a second for what OV meant, (LOL) but I have it in my expander. I agree with the other post in that the owner should be glad you left a blank than to guess at something. I like to think that would be the mark of a good Transcriptionist to leave a blank rather than gamble at making a mistake. Also, when we learn new things, it can be stressful because you are trying to do a good job in areas where we are all new and perhaps learning new things and words. I say, keep up the good work and we all learn from our blanks whether we are new in the business or not. She was really harsh to make that comment.
I think the owner's name was Dawn. nm
,
the owner screens the MTs and knows what she is doing.
There is one editor/QA person who if push comes to shove and you can't get it you can e-mail that person. It's a small company and run smoothly with no pompous people allowed and no incompetent people allowed.
as a former MTSO owner

Personally, I would not hire anyone unless they could transcribe the hardest dictator I had. And that is at LEAST two years of acute care experience.

I think the expression is, "burned once, twice shy."

FROM THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY
This came from an email from Andy, the owner, last December to the employees:

"Whether we think offshore labor is right or wrong, it has become a fact we cannot escape from. OSi will not actively pursue offshore labor contracts, but we have made the decision to experiment with using some offshore labor to save this large OSi client from going elsewhere. We believe this is the best decision for our employees assigned to this account and the company because this account is growing and we can assign the offshore part to the future increases and not have to reassign any OSi MTs. OSi is committed to continue using US MTs for the majority of their work and we will continue to resist going offshore."

He is talking about Ochsner, and I was told that they STILL offshore to them and also to Sarasota and Mayo.

The problem is that they LIED AND DENIED AND LIED AND DENIED this for years. They got caught when the then-QA manager, SD, mistakenly forwarded an email from the Indian company to the company employees. Of course, she was demoted, so they hired NP to replace her. However, FA pitched a hissy and threatened to go on strike because she was overlooked, so they kissed her a$$ and moved NP to another position. Not surprisingly, that department has gone straight to the toilet, and almost everyone has either quit or gotten fired, in addition to the mass exodus of employees since this came to light, because she is incompetent, inexperienced, and daffy as hell and is the most irresponsible, nonproductive person in a management position.

Be careful. If you are not in THE circle and kiss a$$, you are so dispensable that it is not even funny.

Any company that repeatedly lies about offshoring, promotes incapacitated people on power trips, and sends the work offshore in the first place, is ruthless and cannot be trusted.

Look elsewhere. It will only get worse!

If the owner's name begins with a L, then she's sm
okay.  I worked for a company out of Florida called Mediscript Inc a year or so ago and she was real nice.  Email me if you like.
Sante Fe owner
I bought a 2004 Sante Fe and I absolutely love it.  I get 27/mpg in the city and about 35/mpg highway.  It is roomy and comfortable.  You also can't beat the warranty.  I had some paint chipping right where the doors close on the bottom.  I called the 800#, took it in and they fixed it without a nudge and gave me a 2005 to drive in the mean time.  Mine is a 6 cyl and fully loaded with a sunroof and all and I only paid $17,000 for it.  It'll be paid off in September!  Yippee!
Nobody is satisfied with 8.5 if owner is getting 19. (nt)

Not an owner and I do not farm out

I agree that no one should work for $10.00 an hour in this profession.  Funny how I've gone from someone new in this thread to someone who owns an MTSO in this thread.  Wrong and wrong.

I have my own accounts and do my own work.

I just feel that if you form a group of burnouts, then you continue to be a burnout forever.  My initial thought was that only burnouts are invited to form a group by the OP?  What about new grads that have a lot to offer in this field that would love to be sitting in some of these burned out seats making some money.

If someone has been burned out time and time again, it is time to look inward at one's self and their choices in their career.

I think it would take one burn out session for me to know this is not my gig.  I'm not so sure I'd look for other burn outs to join me in my misery.

You are the owner of this business, are you not?
If you want to make it 20 minutes, that's your perogative. You don't need to ask permission to do what you need to do.
I would second your post as the owner
of my company called me yesterday to assist me with a problem since I had some new antivirus put on my system, just was not working with my platform. This was not the first time she has helped me out and I really appreciate her.
As an IC, you are a business owner .
The organizations you mention are for employee labor relations.

It is up to you to negotiate for your business.
