If it is a wireless mouse, change the batteries; if not
then, I am not sure what the problem may be.
batteries
wow, i can't believe that you change your batteries that frequently on the mouse. i sometimes go for a year before changing and that's either with Duracell or Energizer. wonder what the problem could be?
AA batteries ....sm
Maybe it would recharge something....I'm SOOOOOOOOooooo tired. What was he thinking????
Two alarm clocks for me
I set two.  I felt horrible oversleeping one day and my daughter was at school waiting for me to pick her up.  It only happened once, but she told me she thought I wasn't going to pick her up and she was crying....
If an alarm had not been going off, she would not have posted.
Women's sexual organs are tucked away whereas men's are not. I do not know one civilization in this world where then men do not cover up their organs. Tribes have he decency to protect children from that.

Batteries old in keyboard?

I only type in word but this has happened to me before and it was old batteries or because I use cordless I had to reposition the connection thing that reads your keyboard and mouse.  Just a simple guess and am probably wrong.

I got a fire alarm dictation too!

That is a RIOT!  The one in my ear sounded just like the "Enterprise" going to red alert...and the dude just kept right on dictating but thankfully he pretty much screamed his dictation and successfully overpowered the "bwooop, bwooop, bwooop!" of the alarm.

Just tell me, how many times have you heard car alarm
and went to investigate? Never. No one even pays attention to those. You can hear them going off and no one even takes the time to turn their head. Not such a hot idea. Can give example, my very close next door neighbors went off 1 day and I swear never glanced in that direction.
Addendum: Batteries not included.
OMG... I feel even better now.  I was looking at the back of the box and it said you need a AAA battery.  Wow... I thought the sound was great before --- that was without the battery which I did not even notice because of the design of the headphones.  Now, for the first time in 9 years working for MQ I am proud to say that I had to turn the volume DOWN.  Too loud...hurt my ears...ooww. LOL  Glad I was able to exchange my MQ stock for something useful... a pack of 2 AAA batteries for my new headphones.... Life is good.
do the Bose QC2 require batteries?
If so, how often do you find you need to replace them - and/or do you think there is any health hazard to having batteries up next to your head?  thanks.
Even 4.5 is too low. doctors do not change - they still hem and haw, change, change stuff along wit
It is just not enough for the work. Speech is great on the wrists but you are not just reading what is typed, you are making a lot of changes. I have a hard time doubling a lot of days with all the changes I have to make. Just my opinion.
Batteries lasted me only about 2 weeks. Not worth it to me. nm

You are not by any chance using a wireless mouse?... may need batteries. nm

And when the fire alarm goes off above your head, MOVE AWAY.

I used to have that myself. Feeling dread upon the alarm clock sm
going off. Xanax helps that, too. You should try it. Good luck. I can't wait for this to be OVER!!!
If your car has an alarm, answer door w/keys so you can set

Check out the back-up batteries at Office Depot -
I have very short power interruptions every single day, so having a back-up power supply is a must.  I have two now, hooked to different pieces of equipment.  I can work for nearly an hour without external power if need be.  I can hear it beep and click on and then off when power is restored again, which is literally just maybe 10 seconds or so.  As far as a generator goes, I have no idea, sorry.
Zone Alarm Pro also protects against adware & spyware.
It also protects against pop-ups. I've been using Zone Alarm Pro for years and never had a problem (with Windows XP or current Vista). It doesn't bog my system down like Norton did. The free programs don't protect on all levels like Zone Alarm does.
Thanks for the reminder that
Dennis Weaver was in that movie--what a thriller from Steven Spielberg. Dennis was very talented indeed.

I was also sorry to hear that Darren McGavin died. I loved watching "The Night Stalker" in high school.

Thanks for the reminder ...
I am so embarrassed to admit that I like that show, and have watched it since the beginning!
reminder yourself of....
the fact you don't have to get up and leave the house every day, get dressed, go out in all weather, put up with coworkers who can't see past their nose, for starters.
i needed that reminder too, thanks

Reminder of why we love this job!!

Hi everyone - I have seen some posts recently about burnout - I got it after 9 years myself - went back to secretarial work at a hospital.  Thought it was great for about 6 months - could balance my checkbook, have lunch with co-workers, had a reason to get dressed up and get out of the house every day....except that there was a 45 minute commute each way a.m. and p.m. - because of the parking situation, which added 20 minutes each way.  And the fact that I could never run any errands or make any doctors appointments.

Oh, and the fact that when my children were sick 3 days in a 7 month period I got called in to my boss' office and chewed out for not having someone else available to watch my sick children.  Oh, and the office politics, let's not forget those.

Soo.....as transcriptionists, we get to use our brains and work hard, but we also have so much more flexibility.  We can have the laundry going while we work!  When we do a good job and get more work done, we make more money!  If we are 5 minutes late to work, we don't get "written up" for it.  We aren't treated like high school kids!  It's great!  I am giving my notice.  I can't wait to get back to the job that I once felt so burned out on!  I have a whole new perspective and a whole new appreciation for my "old" job.  I can't wait!!

It is a good reminder
Not just this board but others as well.  If you belong to another board, just Google your screen name and see what comes up.  I have been a part of parenting boards, in-law boards and I used to post but quit.  Not just because of the rudeness of other members, but mainly because I don’t know who could be reading.  If you write things out of anger, maybe the next day, the next week or even the next year, you may not feel that way anymore but it is still there on the web.   If that person you wrote about stumbled across that, put two and two together..well old wounds can be reopened  I just quit writing personal stuff on the web all together.  I think it is best to go to a close trusting friend or even a shrink for stuff like that.
Keyboard is fine, mouse batteries goes pretty quick though and if my desk
the signal from the mouse to the transmitter/receiver thing gets messed up, so then move all the junk and all is well. Rarely change the keyboard batteries, mouse every 3 weeks probably. PRO: Like not having wires though, CON: Put in a good supply of batteries.
LOL. You're right. It's been a while since I watched SNL. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the reminder, will paste it on my desk! nm

This has been an issue before.  No exceptions.

Thank you.

Desktop calendar with reminder options....
Does anyone use this?  With going back to school and 3 kidss and tons of appointments, I amm finding that using the old calendar on the wall isn't too safe anymore.  Given the fact that I amm tied to my desk most of the time, I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get a free desktop calendar that will warn me when something is scheduled that day, etc.  I know there is probably a way to do this, but I have no idea.  Any info would be appreciated.  I see the free downloadable calendars, but I amm afraid of those.  Does windows or microsoft office come equipped with this?  Again, any info appreciated.  TIA
Don't change. I had to change back to cable. SuddenLink DSL stinks! nm

Tell him to smoke outside.
That way, he still gets his way, but you don't have to smell it in your house.
I used to smoke but..
I used Zyban.  I will be smoke free for 8 years in April. But it is scary how for some those medications end up causing such horrible effects.
Change provider vs change to business plan

In your place, I would seriously consider changing providers if there were others available in your area, but I'd ask around about their service quality first.  It may not be any better.  If there are no other providers, then consider changing your service package to a business account rather than residential.  They're usually more expensive, but they also tend to get faster service if there's a problem.

Last summer, I had no electricity for 3 days due to severe storms, but there were some 600,000 in the same boat with me.  We just had to wait it out.  It's a downside of working at home.

blowin smoke
Yep, AL the way to the bank.
Depends what you smoke.

Smoke at your computer? I believe it. I still do.

What I did about the C-phone and smoke. sm
I have to go out of town next week so I got a few small trash bags and put in a Yankee Candle Car Jar, and wrapped it back up tight, as well as with the instruction manual. I'll leave it in there for a week and hopefully that will take it away. I did use rubbing alcohol on the C-phone too and oh gosh, you wouldn't believe how much yellow junk came off from the smoke, especially from the parts that are covered with clear plastic. It smelled up my entire room for a while and I'm still getting whiffs of it every now and then. Thank you everybody for your help and suggestions. I spent $187 on this and I did expect better, or at least a blurb in the auction that it came from a smoker's home.

RE: I keep getting an e-mail from Ebay as a reminder for aun upaid item - a Dell computer - sm
but I've never even ever bid on one.  Anybody know what's up with that?  It keeps saying respond to this e-mail but I haven't done that - is this some type of scam?
Someone's blowing smoke up your computer with
unsubstantiated statements.
smoke free for 2 1/2 months
Yes I quit 10 weeks ago. I used the patch for 5 weeks, chewed a lot of gum, chewed on straws, even pretended to smoke a straw sometimes, hey it helped!! As motivational tricks, I printed out pictures of smoke damaged lungs and put them on my wall! I also printed out all the benefits of quitting and hung them in every room. I had smoked a pack a day for 14 years. My significant other still smokes, so if I can quit, you probably can too! I don't even want one now. Oh yeh-drink water! Hope this helps somebody. :)
How many of you smoke while working? See message.
Please don't post about the evils of smoking, etc., just looking for a yes or no.
She didn't smoke cigarettes
She actually smoked cigars!
Looking for a cigarette smoke detector (sm)

My mother lives with us and has gotten into the habit of sneak smoking in the back bathroom.  She thinks we can't smell it.  Have a granddaughter with asthma and I am very particular about smoke in the house.

I thought if I had a detector that would buzz when she lit up that would encourage her to go outside like my husband does.

I have tried talking to her about smoke smells in there when I have washed down the wallpaper and cleaned rugs/shower curtains down.  The smell clings to that wallpaper like glue.  She simply denies that anyone smokes in there.   She keeps multiple candles in there and thinks she is "covering up the smell".

Any suggestions on a device that might be useful is appreciated.

C-phone & cigarette smoke
I just bought a C-phone off of eBay. I unpack it and it smells like smoke, something bad. I'm a non-smoker. How do I get this smell out? If I had known it was owned by a smoker, I wouldn't have purchased it. The auction didn't say one way or another, so I figured I was safe.

Yuck. Please help! Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Febreeze isn't working so far and I'm sitting here smelling this. Gross.
Talk about blowing smoke, ha.
Even the ones on here who are reading these listings, not all want to join in the revolution. I for one love my job, don’t intend on putting my neck on the chopping block for others just because someone is not as happy or content as me. Ridiculous to even think so.
