tried one in hotel
tried one in hotel, it was ok, but not my favorite, maybe if more pillow top. My wife seemed to like it.
No, stayed at hotel right near it, though.
Most of the places in M. Beach offer a package deal such as the one you describe. We have stayed at Compass Cove and Caravelle and both offered family value packages that include the suite, buffet breakfast daily, and tickets to local attractions. We are going back to Compass Cove this year, in fact. Both Caravelle and Compass Cove also renovated over the last year. Have you checked sites like Travelocity? Sometimes they have customer reviews that can be very helpful. Are you taking children? If so, I would recommend Compass Cove or Caravelle, either one. However, Monterey looks like a very nice place from the outside, at least!

Hope you have fun! :) When are you planning to go? We usually go towards the end of August. Rates are even better then. ;)
NEED HOTEL IN ALLENTOWN PA

I am lookng for a modestly priced hotel in Allentow PA for October 7th and 8.  I am going to J C Birney Stadium  to hear College bands.  Any suggestions.

Also check with the hotel -

to be sure that their internet service will allow you to connect to your VPN, if you use one.  I have had a few occasions when travelling that I was unable to connect to my VPNs and was not able to work. It had something to do with the hotel's internet security settings not allowing it.

Depends on your hotel.
If you stay in a large chain (Hilton, Holiday Inns and such) and you are not in a rural area you will usually find high speed and you pay for the time you need - say $9.95 per day to use their connection. You just bring your PC or laptop, connect and voila! If it is dial up .. either change hotels or prepare for longer waits or perhaps not being able to work depending on your situation. The other writer is correct to mention calling your hotel to be sure. Actually some hotels have the service "free" now.
Onesuite in hotel
That is exactly what I'm doing when I travel. I use my Onesuite account and dial an 800 number from my room and save on ridiculous charges from hotels.

Now you can also use its voip feature if your hotel has a good internet connection and you have your laptop with you. Saves you the trouble of dialing the 800 number or worry about getting charge for that 800 call.
I've never had any problems with hotel.com

The best thing to do would be to call the customer care number 1-800-219-4606 CST.  I do know that they always charge your card for the full amount of the stay, but if they didn't have the room, it should have all been refunded.  I thought that when you book through a website like this each website booking company has a set number of rooms available in the hotel.  If the hotel used one of the rooms set aside for hotels.com without the knowledge of hotels.com, then the hotel would be responsible for giving you an upgraded room.  If there were no rooms available at all, then hotels.com should refund everything (not sure about the overage charge, though).

If you have ever worked as a hotel housekeeper, you'd know.

Let's see, here.  People can't hit the toilet.  People can't hit their mouths with their food.  People do nasty, kinky things and leave it for the "maid" to deal with.  People do illegal and immoral things, and also leave those for the "maid" to clean up.  The hotels are hush hush about it so they don't lose clientele.  The "guests" treat the housekeeper like a peon.  You are only there to serve them in their superiority.  Most of your coworkers don't speak English.

Glasses in hotel rooms. Uh Oh...
And people worry about the local water

This is a must read!  Our health when traveling depends on what we know about hotel practices.

desk clerk at a low-budget hotel -
I called in sick with the flu, and that night the place was robbed at gunpoint.  I had never been so happy to be sick!
This is a fantastic idea actually (renting hotel room)
It may be tax deductible. I actually like my home and it is affordable as I got it at a low price several years ago and put a big down payment on it. In other words, I doubt if I could repeat this. No small children. What I am thinking of is that I will probably have to work until I am 60 at least. The only other option would be to go back to school and get training in another skill but even that seems difficult. I have no idea what I could learn and work at other than nursing.

Thank you very much
Aladdin is a nice hotel, nicer than Excalibur but comparable costs.
And it's in the middle of the Strip, so if you plan to do walking you have the Bellagio, Paris, etc. close by.
I'm on Nights
I just can't "turn into" a morning person.  My schedule is 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., but it's very flexible.  I don't have kids, but I live with my mom at the moment and she hates my schedule since she works days.  I love it.  I work days occasionally, but I get SO tired in the middle of the day, and when I work nights, I can stay up for a lot longer.  I love working at night; it's quiet, I can't distract myself because I have to BE quiet, I don't spend all day awake by myself while Mom's at work, etc...I don't have much of a night life, though.  That's a good thing, however, since I'm single and not really one to go out on the town.
With the heat, I'm going to try nights

I think my favorite account is getting cleaned out first thing AM, so I'm going to try nights for a bit.  Starting now!

Those of you who do nights regularly, any secrets to staying perky?

I work nights
from 5pm to wee hours. I'm home every day with the kids. I do get child support for my 16 y/o and my "BF" and I have not yet discussed about the two little ones. I am hoping time will be split as 50/50 as we can get it as he works days, I work nights.
Tue thru Sat, nights, so it ends up being Tue thru Sun. nm

Italian, like most nights.
Spaghetti with red sauce. Salad. I'm tired.
I work nights....
I usually split my shift so I can have a break...8 hours straight gets rough for me sitting and typing. I usually work 5-9 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. I go to bed at around 6 a.m. usually, it's still a little dark then and easier to get to sleep. I am single though and don't have kids. I don't think I could do my schedule otherwise. The good aspect is that I never run out of work and I make extra money for working the shifts. Plus I am not now, never have been and never will be a morning person, so I like not having to have an alarm wake me up. The bad is it's easy to be a hermit some days working the opposite of most of the rest of the world, lots of things wake me up (lawn mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, UPS, if I forget to turn my phone off and people are aghast that they woke me up and it's NOON?!?!?) Fortunately I have a supervisor who will let me flex my hours if I have family in town or something else going on. If I ever actually get a LIFE (socialy speaking), I will probably have to modify my hours, but for right now it fits me pretty well and the extra money is definitely nice.
Yes I do work nights
I can and do work when the work is available vs competing for work during popular hours/days.  I worked nights inhouse too, because I'm a night person.  And I work weekends.  Not all of us are princesses that insist on prime days/hours!
Does MQ pay shift differential for nights?
My company doesn't. My want to apply there.
Thanks, will do. About 3 nights ago my Norton caught
Did you notice the Feb 3 date?  That would be this coming Friday.  Wonder how our various transcription companies are going to fare?  ugh.  I hope they don't crash.
Anyone else crazy enough to work nights with a..
family??  Considering changing shifts, but have only personally known other MTs working nights because their spouse did and had no kids, etc.  Spouse works regular days, 3 kids...am I asking for trouble?  lol  If any of you out there manage this...how do you work out on the weekends on your days off?  No way it would work around here with me sleeping most of the day and leaving hubby to tend to 3 kids alone! Is it too hard to flip schedules between weekdays/weekends?  Thanks for any input.
I hate theme nights because
the contestants try to do the artist proud but don't make the songs their own. Karaoke as Simon puts it.

Who should go home? Kevin and/or Melissa, do they kick off 1 or 2 tonight? These 2 are definitely inferior to the rest of the performers. Bucky is running my close third for getting the boot. I really like him, but I don't think he's got what it takes for different song styles that will be coming down the line.

TOP 3: Chris, Mandisa and Taylor.

I've tried that the past few nights
it gets WAY too frosty!! :)
Hang in there. There will be days or nights
like this sometimes. Most likely they rebooted the system and old junk that got left behind from cherry picking got stuck in the cues. I have worked late at night and that has happened, especially since less people work at night. I am thinking it is not you, just got stuck on a night they updated the jobs. Hang in there. If they have a good reputation, odds are someone else will get stuck next time when the get the old jobs which are stuck and left undone. And remember, what goes around comes around. One day hopefully soon you will get all good reports to balance these out. Good luck.
Most of the gals I know, myself included.....sm
love to get some really nice hand/body lotion, either in their favorite fragrance or something scented from a specialty shop. They usually sell for maybe $18-20 and that's just too much $$ to spend on our own hand creams! Either that or scented bubble baths, soaps, etc.

I give things like that to my friends all the time and I have one friend who has now actually come to expect a bottle of her favorite lotion every Xmas. :)
You and everybody else are looking for same thing, me included. nm

You need to know if spaces are included, then ... sm
divide your character count by 55 based on the with spaces or without spaces. It should come out exactly as your company figures. With it being 55 characters, I would almost bet you are not paid for spaces. Are you dividing the number of words by 55 or the number of characters without spaces by 55?

You should be able to come right out and ask the company the formula they use; if its not something you can recreate in a word document to verify, they are cheating you somewhere.
QA Submissions not included!
QA submissions nare not included either! LOL! Happy holidays!
Will that be entirely VR or any straight included?

Have fun on your trip! sm

...and don't you dare feel guilty about leaving the kids.  Taking this trip will make you a better mother when you get back.  Enjoy your vacation!

trip
I went back to visit the family Thanksgiving and that is where I have been torn, as it has been seven or more years since I was back in the Midwest and of course, seeing my granddaughter for the first time really set me to thinking about returning. When this offer was presented to me, it threw me for a loop nevertheless, but I am still thinking about the fact that I am now 50 and none of my friends is getting any younger and that right now, I feel isolated in more ways than one, with the living situation and with working at home. I have a base of friends where I currently live, but they have their own lives and interests as well. In a way, I feel that if I do return back to the Midwest, that I will have the "support" that I need as well as being able to at least have a life at times. I am currently involved in a relationship, but because of work schedules and financial constraints (mostly on his end) that has been hard as well.
We have everything already for the trip, but.....
we haven't purchased the Disney or Universal passes - I am wondering if those tickets can still be purchased easily at the resorts - we are not staying on site, but rather on International Drive
That was in a movie right? He looks great on award nights.
I like him because he seems to be focused on the part he plays and not on looking good and in some movies, especially the pirate movie, he looked not so good but was hilarious.  He doesn't seem Hollywood to me all propped up and doing the guest appearances to promote his movies.
I just switched to nights and found I like it alot.
I get a nicer variety of reports so I don't get bored. I keep the tv on behind me but don't watch it. No interruptions, no phone, no kids or hubby, although my kids are all out of high school. They still tend to interrupt. The dogs are sleeping so I don't have to let them out. I do open a window for some of that gorgeous night air. I only need about 6-7 hours of sleep, so I hit the hay when I am done and sleep for around 4 hours, get up and do a few things, then conk out again for 2-3 hours later. It seems to be working out.
I'm crazy enough to work nights with two schnauzers. sm
They wake me up promptly at noon - I open my eyes, and they are both staring a hole through my head. If I don't respond, Mollie claws at me, and Toby licks me in the face. I get up, let them out, then I go back to bed for a couple of hours.

I can't wait until we buy a house and are able to fence the yard! (or buy one with a fenced yard).
1. He works nights. 2. I work days
Ah, but the weekends. . . ..
Yeah, working nights would be great if
the rest of the world was on that shift!!

I just switched back to days after 5 or more years of graveyard. I loved it except for what you mentioned.

My only suggestion to the OP would be try to stay up the entire night before you start working, sleep that day, and then work your shift. That way, you will start getting you internal clock used to those hours.

It's not easy, so be patient. It will take about a week, maybe a little longer to get used to it. You'll probably feel a little fatigued and sluggish, but just try to hang in there. And don't be scared. I remember when I first started working graveyard, I had this feeling like I should NOT be awake right now. I felt physically okay, but emotinoally I felt like I was not doing something right... don't really know how to explain it...

Anyhow, good luck!!
If you're not American, then how would you know. If you, you just included yourself

Yes, lots of software was included.

Unfortunately, Word was not included though.

Thanks for the input anyway.

It would mean NO spaces included if it's only the B/W characters. Better ask for sure! nm

Hmm...will check this out. I know spaces are not included.
Thanks for responding. I will e-mail her tomorrow and find out what is up.

did you read the site I included....sm

MS Word is included in MS Works now sm
What Dell probably met was that MsWorks includes a full version of MS Word. It's the less expensive way to get Word without having to buy Ms Office. The student version of MS Office cannot be upgraded, btw, so don't get that.
Should've included the website...

Addendum: Batteries not included.
OMG... I feel even better now.  I was looking at the back of the box and it said you need a AAA battery.  Wow... I thought the sound was great before --- that was without the battery which I did not even notice because of the design of the headphones.  Now, for the first time in 9 years working for MQ I am proud to say that I had to turn the volume DOWN.  Too loud...hurt my ears...ooww. LOL  Glad I was able to exchange my MQ stock for something useful... a pack of 2 AAA batteries for my new headphones.... Life is good.
