Just my take...

I've been happily at home for 10+ years (I've got 30+ years' experience). I left a big company after 7 years for a smaller one, had nothing but equipment problems and long story short ended up going back to the bigger company. Luckily got my "standing" back with them regarding same accounts, benefits and seniority with one exception: had to take the slight pay cut so now get 8 cpl no matter what account I will have (was up to 9 cpl on my particular primary account). There's plenty of work and I will always do second shift because that's the way I like it. I don't complain. I personally don't want to have to struggle too much at my age, so I hang in there. I do acute care, love the variety and love the benefits (which are nothing to sneeze at), so I'll take less money and hang in there. I still make a decent living without doing more than 8 hours per night and I hope to keep it that way, and it works for me. Many of my day shift coworkers have been trained on different platforms and compete constantly for the work during the day, having to work extra days to make their lines and are expected to be able to jump from one account/platform to another.
I would lose my mind having to work that way, but I think this is the trend, unfortunately.
