My husband is in law enforcement and in our area, the computer system they have, he does his own reports. Nobody else does the reports for them. By the time he would dictate a report, he could have his already done. So, not sure if there would be a need or not in this field.

Law Enforcement Transcription
I have been trying to find out information on this as well.  I have contacted a company that does so, and have had no reply back.  I will keep trying.  If I find out anything I will post it.  I would appreciate it if you did the same.  I think it would be very interesting, and it might just pay well.  My brother in law is a county police officer.  I am going to speak to him as well.

Hi,  I'm currently contracted outsource (general) by PeopleSupport (mostly car insurance reports) and also HTSteno (law enforcement).  Love the flexibility and both are great comanies to work for!  Peoplesupport is currently hiring and HTSteno always has the ability to be put on the hiring list.  Hope this helps!  KC

Rates - law enforcement transcription

Does anyone have any info. on transcription for police and sherriff departments?  Including:

- Going rates to transcribe tapes, digital (recorder and call-in) and SR (if it's done), and

- Common billing charge method - per page, report, line, audio hour, audio min.

Have you ever done this type of transcription?  Is it worth it?  Think I remember seeing something in the Archives...

Honestly, it comes down to priorities and enforcement.
First, you have to put work as a high priority on your list. After all, it is how you draw your income and make provisions for your family. It is part of caring for them.

Second, you have to let everyone know that you need peace and quiet and to be left alone during such hours so that you can do your job....then enforce it.

Sometimes daycare is the best option for young ones. Pets can be put into other rooms until break times. Plan your cooking and errands.

Having raised my children while working from home and doing it for more than 15 years from home ... it all comes down to you.

No one is realizing how they impact your work because you have not made it known.

It sounds like you do too much for everyone else.

Protect your income.

Finally steady money. whew. Applied and got job at Dept of Law Enforcement entering

They started me way above minimum because of my experience.  I was shocked and happy all at the same time.

And of course I'm esctatic to not be wondering how much money I would be getting each pay check.  Working on production in transcription now is like playing Russian Roulette.

There's good benes where I going, retirement, sick days, no games with my health insurance.  I should have done this long ago.
