Like it or not, she is a legal adult and can do what she wishes.

You can tell her your opinions, but you really have no control over this. Just as you wouldn't want someone forcing you to have an abortion because they believe it's right, she likely doesn't want you trying to force her to keep it because it's what you think is right.

All you can do is be there for her if/when she needs you. Yeah, it may stink that her beliefs are not the same as yours, but there's nothing you can do about.

I'd rather act like an adult than be an adult trying to act like a kid.
s
Adult trying to act like a kid?? What does that mean??
Adult trying to act like a kid?  What does that mean?  That adults cant go to rock concerts?  You are the fool for generalizing about how kids or adults should act. I act the way I want, I believe the way I want, I am the way I want to be..Dont like it??  Tough.  Your post really makes no sense.  I would suggest you check out rockers, most of them are over 40, and they are still rocking..
Any child is more adult than you are.
I grow weary of your tiresome chatter.....
So again having sex between 2 adult males sm
or females is the same grouping as men raping boys??? Come on, you are the one that needs an education.
She was an adult, not her mother's choice
Obviously there is enough evidence to hold at least 1 suspect as he is still being held!  What about him?  Poor him huh?  You are exactly the kind of person who talks one way, but given the problem being placed on your doorstep, you would cry and complain just like the rest of them.  If it were your child, you be just as angry and scared and frustrated as she is.
Yes, i advise my "children" he is an adult now. sm
He accepted the job as it was and can quit or accept the terms. my dh and i run a construction business. he runs around and spends 2 hours a day just picking up help. we do not pay travel time. you either choose to go or you don't. we do, however, buy their lunch when it is a longer than usual travel. when they are ICs as usually with any manual labor field, labor law and travel time doesn't constitute for their positioning. turn the situation. if someone was coming to your house to do some work, would you be willing to pay every person on that crew travel time? probably not because that would significantly raise the price which you probably already think it too high to do the work you need. you have to realize they are ICs as we are and have all the expenses of trucks, tools, gas, taxes, etc. and have to cut their prices because foreigners are taking over the manual labor fields as well and working for pennies just as transcription is doing but manual labor isn't going to overseas, overseas is coming to the US for pennies. i would have him ask the man he works for about it but it the guy accepts either live with it or quit. i doubt he will get it as with 18yo he can't have a lot of experience to constitute the extra pay, etc.
You're ridiculous. He's an adult and she can't do that.
She can talk to him, keep the lines of communication open with him, pray for him, but she has to decide what consequences she is willing to accept by where she draws her line of acceptance.

You cannot make decisions for grown children.

What a hateful parent to even try. Counsel them with a tender heart-to-heart but try to force them into living like yourself? HATEFUL.

Why don't you do the adult thing and just BAN her from posting here instead of sm
doing through all of this drama and mess. It's getting old and I would think an owner of an MT board would be much more professional than this.

I wish you and your son all the best in the world and I am sure you will make the right choice and giving your son the right to make choices for himself is the right thing. To many parents today live through their children and not for their children.

My son wanted to do this and I agreed to it. Even though it is very time consuming, but at the same time it is full of rewards.

God Bless and Best of Luck

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes!

I feel like I should point out that (in the fairness of all) the God messages should be on the relgious board, it is a little presumptious to think we all believe in God.

That said, best of luck.
well, I am an adult with teen kids, so it's not too hard to

And they say divorce is less traumatic on adult children....
Unfortunately, this is NOT the case. Adult children whose parents divorce quite often end up just as you have described. They are old enough to form their own opinions which are quite often colored by their life experiences and how they relate to each parent as an adult with adult biases and opinions. Divorce, regardless of the age of the children, always affects the children and people who are "waiting until the kids are grown" are only deluding themselves.

In catechism class as an adult, they told us - sm
told us "it's better to remain as you are, but get married if you absolutely must." This was a group of people mostly over 40 who were studying to become Catholic.
A parent's job is to raise a child the way they should go as an adult ....
Isn't part of being an adult cleaning, taking responsibility? If so, YOUR job is to make them clean, certain rooms on certain days, not just during vacations. (I'm at work so this is succinct, and probably not real tactful, sorry)

i took an adult education class for 5 bucks,
in California 33 yr ago. I'm pretty sure most everyone trained on the job in those days, but i paid $5 for the course and bought a few books (med dictionary, workbook etc). This was an intensive course though with a great teacher -- 8r a day x 6 months and i probably studied 4-5 hr a night. I had a job before i got out of 'school' and i've worked continuous ever since, in many capacities, a number of states. I do think there are too many places nowadays however that take your money and don't prepare you well. But it's WHAT they teach, not the name of the school. We spent a good deal of time on word roots/prefixes/suffixes, interpreting sound, easily confusables, how to research, etc. Training my ear did not come easy for me, but i believe everywhere i've worked, i've been considered one of their best. Again, its not where you've been but what you learned when you got there!!
Thanks for the feedback and well wishes
I am preapproved for a loan but the payments scare me. I've never owned a home on my own before. I'm also cashing in my small 401k to use for it. I'm young yet, under 35, and know that that is not the smartest of ideas, but my NOT-darling, boyfriend, father of my youngest (2) (have 3 total) is prone to violent behavior. I've put up with his rantings for 3 years, NOT anymore. If I can just get through the next couple weeks .......the house is empty.....so hoping if things go okay, I can move in, maybe before closing. PRAY for me!
No problem! Best wishes!!
:-)
Can you believe it? Time sure does fly! Thank you all for the well wishes!
We're not planning to go anywhere anytime soon!
Best wishes to you on that plan, but

I have to admit that I was (and still am) an RN first.  With all of its difficulties, I have to admit that I would prefer to be an MT than return to that extremely stressful situation of RN bedside nurse.  The one good thing that I can say with regards to nursing is that the pay seems to be really good, though, and it does not seem difficult for a new grad to find a good niche in which to begin working.  One piece of advice that I give is to work towards a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and possibly move on towards a Masters degree or even a PHD, before you are 50.  Find a job that you can continue to do until older age, when your body may no longer be up to the physical stress required for direct patient care (especially when it includes lifting, turning the patient, etc.)  Get into a specialty where you can use your brain more than your muscles.  If you are not already doing so, get into an exercise program and take good care of your musculoskeletal system.  If I were not almost geriatric, I would take my own advice.  My big mistake was starting out with an Associate Degree and not continuing my nursing education.  Believe it or not, I cannot even get a job in a doctor's office, as they prefer LPNs.  I even called my state board of nursing and asked if I could get an LPN license by just being an RN and taking the LPN exam.  They told me that I would have to complete an LPN training program first, which I am not inclined to do.  I know it was a strange question to ask them, but I had to ask...Best to you..

What? Don't like changing adult diapers all night long?

Can anyone tell me the best company to work for if one wishes to do only do op notes...sm

I have 30 years experience in MT work and for the last few years have been able to do exclusively operative notes which is what I love.  I have been very happy with current company but have to start my work day early in the a.m. and now my account has been overstaffed to the point there is no work in the morning.  While there is plenty of work late in the day, there is nothing in the morning and so I feel I must look for another company for at least part time op work initially and if it works out I could go full time.  I have left my email address so please feel free to contact me.  Thank you very much for any help you can offer.

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Happy Easter!

Frank is now working on a vacation for lucky MT to home office in beautiful downtown New Jersey.
Morning baby, morning adult. Kids born at 11:30AM (both) are night owls, however. Go figure! :) nm

Legal or what? IC help.
OK, I need some IC help please? I just quit my IC position and was told after the fact that I would NOT be paid for my last 30 days of working because I did not give proper notice per contract.   Well to make a long story short I didn't sign a contract.  So what would you seasoned ICs do?
This is not legal
Sorry but this is not legal and if you get caught it can be insurance fraud with big consequences.  Legally and morally you should not be on his insurance coverage, if you chose to stay on it, live with yourself and the fear of "getting caught".   This is where our morals are going down the tube in this country.  Lie and cheat to get what we want and something for nothing.
Med-Legal
if anyone does work for CMLS doing med-legal docs? If so, any feedback, good, bad, or indifferent would be appreciated. Thanks!
What I was doing is legal. sm
I was using a trial version to see if I liked it. I paid to have the complete 2003 version put on my new computer. I would not use a bootleg version software for work. That was my point. However, I hate to pay that much to put it on my son's computer just so he can take a single high school class. I may have to work it so he can use my computer to send his work in, because he needs Word format.
Regardless of whether it's legal or not, I think
At a time when hundreds of thousands of American jobs have been lost, with surely more to come this year, sending ANY job overseas that could be done by a better-qualified American is wrong.

Of course, they're not going to outlaw offshoring. But it needs to stop being such a cash cow for American businesses. Many of them know what they're doing is wrong, but do it anyway in order to make more money for themselves. Or they do it because they don't have the backbone to stand up to medical institution management who cuts MT expenditures because they basically know little to nothing about MT. To them it's just something they can easily cut without any guilt, because they don't have to face those workers every day in person.

The government needs it pointed out to them that there are at least 2 major benefits to taxing the offshoring of American work: (1) More money paid in taxes by big business, who can afford it. (2) Fewer Americans out of work, and once again paying taxes and contributing to the economy again, instead of having to RECEIVE money from the government in order to survive.

Have you thought of doing legal transcription for a company? I don't know of any, but I wonder if there aren't some out there? Makes sense. Hope your travels are fun!
Of course it's legal - It's Your Job
Are you working for an MTSO?  They may even decide to put you on a new account every other day!  Yes, they can do that.  Have had it done to me many times.  Had to get used to it.  You have not really given this a lot of time.  With time comes experience and $$.  You will become more knowledgable and faster at what you do.  It does really matter whether they did it now or later, you would still be on a new account that you did not know.  Besides, you said yourself you are struggling, what if you like the new account better!!!
The last of my brood will be legal age when I'm your age.
Originally, we had planned on retiring from our jobs and being done raising kids by 40 years old.  It didn't work out that way!   LOL  There's something to be said for having kids later in life after your career is established and you've learned patience.
Legal transcription
Has anybody transcribed legal notes?  If so, did you find easier or about the same as medical?  Just curious.
