PCShorthand for Windows
I use the above. It works with pretty much all windows-based programs. You can download a free 30-day trial to check it out.
can someone tell me how to copy pcshorthand
nm
SpeedType and PCShortHand at the same. nm

Have you called PCShorthand SM
for their help?
Hopefully somebody who knows Emdat will weight in, but I'd at least try that.

I suspect Shorthand's already trying to work with Emdat. When eScription came to my company, ShortHand worked fine with a minor adjustment--which they knew all about and which I was walked through in less than a minute. InstantText, no, but that company worked with the eScription people for some weeks until they got it working right. In any case, since no program can be guaranteed to work with every platform right off the bat, I'd do what I could to stick with one of the top programs available, which in your case would be the one in hand.

I know nothing about Emdat, tho, and am curious about it. Do you like it? Why don't you use its built-in expander? If you do use it, can you take a personalized dictationary of expansions with you when you change jobs? What about that "blue button" for doing your typing in Word?
I love 'em too but type everything else but and Progress notes (sm)
DOUBLE YUCK.
pcshorthand.com... Get the disk version though so

Oh and don't you love the "WOW, you work from home?? HEY! I can type - hook me up!" sm
That burns my hiney more than anything else. Working from home is NOT a piece of cake. I can relate to those who think since we work from home we can just get up anytime. I don't know how many times I have tried to explain that if I were working in a "traditional" office, that they wouldn't just walk in, call, etc. etc. but I don't think anybody will ever really get that our time is money, literally.
Try MTStars FlashType. It works much like PCShorthand & is much cheaper.
See link below
Had it done in 1999
It was such a miracle being able to see.  Had both eyes done, but one regressed, so ended up with monovision which works fine for me.  But hit that 50-something now and have cataracts.  Definitely do have dry eyes so use artificial tears whether in the office or at home.
I had it done in 1999 and

I'm glad I did.  I haven't had any problems other than the dry eye syndrome, so I use artificial tears every day.  I had both eyes corrected but the right eye regressed leaving me with mono-vision, so I didn't need glasses to drive or to read. By now though I do need reading glasses.

I worked for the "Q" in 1999 and had 11 yrs exp...sm
and was only making 7.5 cpl. That was after I had been with them for 8 years! I had many MT friends none of which made more than 9 or 10 cpl. Seriously, who are the companies paying this???
MTs have threatened this as far back as 1999. It never happens.
Just quit the job if you aren't happy there.

1999 Lincoln Navigator with 3rd row.....
Extremely roomy and quite comfy. Won't be getting a brand new one anytime soon because they are quite pricey.....I'll stick with the 1999 model for now!

Have a 1996 Suburban, bought in 02/1999 with 64K miles - sm
now has 184K miles, still going strong. Paid $26K. Have gotten our money's worth on it. Just started making repairs here and there over the last 2 years, new fuel pump, new fitting from radiater to engine, a couple engine seals, water pump, cleaning of fuel injectors. Probably about $2K all together in the last 7 years we have had it, not bad I think, other than regular maintance stuff, i.e. brakes, tires, oil changes, air filters, engine belt, etc. Gets about 15 MPG, 18 sometimes. Thing is a tank and I love it. Had a Blazer before that, though I had to put a lot of $$$ into it over the years I had it (10), about 16 MPG---Going to run the Suburban into the ground, hope to get 250K miles at least out of it. Has a few tics now and then due to age but all in all is in great shape and runs well, and I have made a point of fixing things immediately engine-wise and cosmetically. Go GM, have heard the transmissions last a lot longer (mine is proof of that, 184K original transmission) my husband has a 1990 Ford F-250 that had its transmission rebuild at 90K miles. His truck now has 189K miles on it and shifts rough.
Proud ex-CMT here too. I quit 'em back in 1999 - sm
They got almost 3 grand out of me before I wised up. LOL!

don't type double spaces. Type single. Then no one will be cheated.

I can type with wine, can't type with coffee, though...too jittery.

That is, type the code above before and after what you want bolded in the text-to-type box. nm

love, love, love the show. hate american idol. this show is for real.
the only reason i entertained watching it was because of mark burnett and as usual he has such genious casting and editing. btw, don't know who anything about "metal" music but these performers make me like it. love marty and jd as performers. HATE JESSICA. susie is so nice and so emotional. it seems they all support each other and enjoy each others skills. regarding ty and bob marley, ty was excellent but he also lucked out on the song! bob marley was genious too and his music is very easy to listen to. i don't like 3/4 of what the others are given to sing but their performances make me love the music. dave navarro shines on this show, very gracious for the most part and letting the contestants down easy when they have to leave. he was great last night with brandon (?). sweet, sweet show. i am so impressed with everyone involved.
For me it isn't an account type but a dictator type ...
and that would be oriental. An oriental dictator (hahaha, that kind of sounds funny...hahaha) is the most challenging for me.
No, you don't type directly into ES. You type in Word -
or whatever their platform is, just like you did with your tapes.

Then you do your line count in Word or the platform.
You should type them. I usually type them in parentheses following the diagnosis.
x
remind me, type what they say, type what they say, type....
"He indicated that at the beginning of the year he complained of health problems recently but has gotten better."  C'mon doc, which one is it?????
Yep that's it, 4000. Love, love love the zoom
But I feel like a dork typing...every time I try to type But it is coming out as Nut!
Shorthand users: Is there a way to type a word, use a slash and then type another word..sm

immediately following the slash and have it expand.  For example if I needed to transcribe mass/sebaceous cyst, is there a way to use my expanded sebaceous cyst without having to back space after I type the slash mark?  TIA

I love it too - love doing my nails 5 hours a day and staying awake

Love NOT getting paid while sitting doing my nails too.  It's a real turn on.

I tell all my friends to try it -- sit in front of your computer while you have no money to pay your rent and instead do your nails, you get a real buzz down in the pit of your stomach.

Also LOVE LOVE ESCRIPTION and make good money but...
Can I ask how you sit there for 8 hours. Lately, I'm having a motivation problem. When I focus, I can rack up the lines, but lately, I get so easily distracted. My mind wanders and I struggle to get my lines. Any tips on how you stay productive who do you work for?? I work for Transcend.
People either love it or hate it. I personally love it
but I know a lot of people say you cannot make any money on it and will not work on it. I do okay. I'm obviously not getting rich but I am making a living. I found it easier than Dictaphone and faster such in downloading and uploading job and you only have to log on one system and not like Dictaphone where you have to log onto the VPN and then log onto the program. It's always worth a try, but yes, the biggest complaint I hear is that no one can make a living and the cpl isn't that great.
I went back in house and love it. I love not being
secluded. I was working in my PJs, less organized and feel much better now that I get up and dress for work and see people (even those in traffic aren't so bad anymore). I find that I have more of a life now, and my family says that I spend more time with them now.

Working at home served its purpose for a long time; I was ready to go out into the world again now that I have no little ones at home.
BD WONG! I love him! I love all CSI and Law and Orders!
I am so addicted. I actually schedule my job and family around the shows LOL.
Love love love my chair
The arms can be lowered so they won't be in your way, I don't know about the tilt limiter. But I bought my off ebay about 6 years ago and can't do without it. No I do not think you can find another chair that even compares to the aeron, changed my working life completely, no sore back or butt. You won't regret it, but you will if you go for a cheap imitation.
LOL. I love it. I also love the song sm
I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now. Miss the Happy Goodmans!
Repeat after me: I love my job, I love my job. :) nm

You can love a job and still love being home! sm

I got into medical transcription for many reasons.  Yes, one was that I wanted to be home with my children, another was that I wanted to be in the medical field, and yet another was this just fits me.  Medical terminology and grammar are two things that have always come easily to me.  So, this fits.  I can work early, early mornings and late nights when they are asleep.  Also during afternoon naps.  Yeah, doesn't leave a heck of a lot of time for myself, but THAT is a sacrifice I am willing to make, leaving my kids for someone else to raise/care for all day wasn't.

I do not love money but I love what it can buy
for me. I work 4 days a week now and was not bringing home what I wanted every 2 weeks, for some reason that is at least 1,000.00. I just decided to turn up the speed and put my mind to doing at least 3000 lines a day and figured by that should get what I want in the pay line. Worked well for me. I tell people if you want to talk with me call before I go to work, do not let outside influences bother me during my hours. Other than a bathroom break, glass of water, here for the straight 8.
I love Google and I love MTs
Okay, who in their right mind would not only discuss but have passionate opinions about hyphens and apostrophes? I love it!

Anyway, in googling grammar rules I found numerous references that two days' time would not but hyphenated but when used as a modifier like two-day history, it would be.

I remember telling an OB nurse friend of mine about fretting over 38 weeks pregnancy and whether the hyphen belonged in there and she just laughed and said she thinks she would get the point either way. Well harumph!
Right above where you type (SM)

There is a "T" with a colored block.  You can highlight the text you want to color, click on that block, and then click on the color you want to make it. :)

I hope your kitty will be around for more years to come.  I know 19 is very old for a kitty.  :(  It's hard to think about losing one of our "babies."

Take care,

Chickadee

TV on while you type?
Do you keep the television on while you type?  I think I would get alot more done if I would stop watching TV and stop surfing the web!
If you don't know what type you have,

you probably don't have an FTP server.  You would have to know that to set it up and configure it.

FTP stands for file transfer protocol, which just means that it's a way to upload and download files from a server using the Internet.  If you'd like free FTP software for a potential job, you can download CoreFTP for free from Download.com at the following link.

how would you type this?

How would you type "section 8 housing"?  Would it be Section 8 housing, Section -8 housing, Section-8 Housing or Section 8 Housing?

TIA
