I obtained a BSN while doing transcription. I do make as much as an RN or more but I'm in a supervisory transcription position for a 3 hospital system. I knew I'd have to start out working nights as an RN and at that point in my life I'd just as soon keep my day job. I don't regret it though and I know I can always obtain a job if needed.
