Mine was silver with a black vinyl roof.  I paid more for the wheels and tires then I did for the car!!!  Had it re-painted and LOVED it.  Only girl who could drive a stick and was proud of it.  teehee!  Them were the days!

This brought back some memories...
I was once approached in a Barnes & Noble AND a laudromat! LOL
Now that brings back memories!! (sm)
Yes we have come a long way since pre IMB electric typewriters. Seriously I use to use a manual carriage return. That is how far I go back... Scary though. I really do like the progess we have made. Although we worked then!! No office chit chat, no line counts, no productivity standards, you just typed your 8 hours and clocked out. There is something to be said for that.
Boy, you brought back memories. I remember crying too and thinking I'd never get it that first y

Brings back memories! I had a computer fan that sounded like a mini helicopter! Kept
calling my company and having them "listen".  They weren't concerned. It did actually blow up one day - a little mini "poof" of fire, 2 seconds of light smelly smoke, and she was dead!!  A goner!  Never heard it before, never heard it after, but one did make noise and it died a month later!
hope they bring more back....

AutoFormat is not going to bring back your formatted
AutoCorrect entries.

AutoFormat and AutoFormat as You Type are options only, not entries.

Do you have a backup of your normal.dot that you can copy over? When you were asked if you wanted to replace your normal.dot, what did you name the file? Or were you asked if you wanted to save changes to the normal.dot?

Do a search for "*.dot" files (without quotes) and see how many normal.dot files you have. It's possible that your old file is still there. You might have to change your view in the Search dialog box to Details so you can see the dates of the files. Make sure the normal.dot is in the correct Template folder. If you have more than one normal.dot, Word uses the first file it finds.

I have lost my entries in autotext. Does anyone know if I can bring them back? - sm
I know this has been asked before but could not find in the archives.  Thanks in advance for your help.
wow... sorry then... my memories are nothing like that. sm
Granted, I'm only in my early 30s, so maybe I don't go back to the 60s, but still... I never walked away feeling over-indulged. However, my parents worked hard and if they went on vacation, they took us, too... it's called being a family. We're not talking about going out to eat once in a while by yourselves... we're talking about a vacation. And, yeah, if my parents had taken off to Florida for a vacation without me, I'd have felt slighted, too. And, yes, I take my kids on vacation with me. If I go, they go. And you know what? I enjoy taking my kids. They're great people. Maybe if my kids were total snots, then I'd consider going without them, too. But I've raised my kids the right way... I respect them and they respect me. Sounds like maybe the original poster has been a little over-indulgent with her kids... not in terms of giving them too many vacations, but maybe not enforcing rules and respect....
Yes, wow, memories...sm
I used IBM Selectrics at most all jobs in the late 70's/early 80's.  I remember transcribing for a clinic and there were about 40 girls in 2 big rooms.  At that particular job, the "computer" was introduced and they replaced our electric typewriters (gasp, how were we going to get our work done?)!  The "computers" were big, clunky things that were very scary looking.  After being on them about a week, everybody loved them and we all felt our production improved tremendously.  Just look at our computers now!
memories
My last real vacation was renting two condos along with my sisters and their children and my parents on the beautiful Gulf of Mississippi and New Orleans in 2000. This was the last vacation with my father (Died 10/15/00 of cancer) and Katrina blew away Long Beach. So glad I went. Actually argued about the trip. I wanted to go to Stone Mountain outside ATL. I am so glad we did this family trip. The memories are priceless.
The memories she will have (sm)
are the most precious things. Remember that through it all as you juggle this. You are giving her something money can't buy.

Oh, such lovely memories of you
I like the way you sign your name "my goodness" makes me think of the other night when you went to take a toke of my stogie you said the same thing "My goodness, Frank, you are are......" you know the rest my dear.
Thanks for the memories, RadGuy!
Need to find my Diablo disk.
Oh the memories! haha nm

I have fond memories of transcribing on sm

Selectric typewriters with 6 carbons, all of which had to be erased if there was a typo or, more likely, a dictator's changes.  If a doc's dictation stumped us, he (very few females then) would get a tug on his sleeve, asked to listen to what he said and explain.  Having worked in a teaching institution, these doctors were more than happy to impart their knowledge to anyone who would listen.

Then came the mag card machines, then computers.

The dictation I listened to on IBM belts, then tapes, was a lot clearer than most of the digital dictation I'm subjected to now.

And no MTs worked on Sundays and holidays, and certainly not every Saturday.

Memories...EDiX did that to my hospital. SM
My family came upon some very hard times when I went with EDiX, but that's not to say Spheris is the same way.

Don't count on your line count being the same. It sure wasn't when I transitioned.
POLL: childhood memories

Remember mickey mouse ice cream bars?  They were shaped like mickey's head and the face was vanilla ice creame with chocolate ice cream for eyes and mouth.  His ears were chocolate covered.  I don't think they make them anymore.  What treats do you miss that you can no longer find?

Broken tape memories
One of my docs about 15 years ago broke a tape and he spent more time putting the tape back together than it would have been if he had redictated. Another time, the same doc walked in my office and handed me the tape while I was running a finished tape through the little erase box and I immediately took it out of his hand and erased it right in front of him. I almost died. He always dictated on half speed to get more on a tape. What would you have done if you did that?
Because people have short memories. - sm
In order for anything positive to ever come out of this, then the subject of the AHDI ripoff of American workers has to be brought up and re-brought-up again and again and again and again, until we are finally able to drive it home, not only with ALL MT's (not just the few who don't have their heads in the sand), but also with the lawmakers in this country. If the issue begins to affect THEM, then they might finally listen. But the message has to be repeated incessantly in order to get anyone's attention.
LOL Thanks for the memories or should I say nightmares. Does anyone remember the old dreaded
erase pencil with an eraser on one side and a brush on the other, with the black or blue carbon paper?!!! I can't believe 27 years have flown by so quick LOLLLL!!!
This old babe says Babs by 100-fold! The Way We Were, Ave Maria, Memories, Enough is Enough..nm

They bring it on themselves.
and then expect everyone else to overlook the facts.

* According to the latest US Department of Justice survey of crime victims, more than 6.6 million violent crimes (murder, rape, assault and robbery) are committed in the US each year, of which about 20 per cent, or 1.3 million, are inter-racial crimes.

* Most victims of race crime - about 90 per cent - are white, according to the survey “Highlights from 20 Years of Surveying Crime Victims", published in 1993.

* Almost 1 million white Americans were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by black Americans in 1992, compared with about 132,000 blacks who were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by whites, according to the same survey.

* Blacks thus committed 7.5 times more violent inter-racial crimes than whites even though the black population is only one-seventh the size of the white population. When these figures are adjusted on a per capita basis, they reveal an extraordinary disparity: blacks are committing more than 50 times the number of violent racial crimes of whites.

* According to the latest annual report on murder by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most inter-racial murders involve black assailants and white victims, with blacks murdering whites at 18 times the rate that whites murder blacks.

These breathtaking disparities began to emerge in the mid-1960s, when there was a sharp increase in black crime against whites, an upsurge which, not coincidentally, corresponds exactly with the beginning of the modern civil rights movement. Over time, the cumulative effect has been staggering. Justice Department and FBI statistics indicate that between 1964 and 1994 more than 25 million violent inter-racial crimes were committed, overwhelmingly involving black offenders and white victims, and more than 45,000 people were killed in inter-racial murders. By comparisons 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam, and 34,000 were killed in the Korean war. When non-violent crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft and personal theft) are included, the cumulative totals become prodigious. The Bureau of Justice Statistics says 27 million non-violent crimes were committed in the US in 1992, and the survey found that 31 per cent of the robberies involved black offenders and white victims (while only 2 per cent in the reverse).

When all the crime figures are calculated, it appears that black Americans have committed at least 170 million crimes against white Americans in the past 30 years. It is the great defining disaster of American life and American ideals since World War II. All these are facts, yet by simply writing this story, by assembling the facts in this way, I would be deemed a racist by the American news media. It prefers to maintain a paternalistic double-standard in its coverage of black America, a lower standard.

Not to mention drugs, irresponsible reproducing habits, and welfare fraud. Gee, they have an attitude? Aw, too bad.
then you should bring it to someone's
attention. My paycheck has always been correct.
Sure - bring it on! nm

AND wow the bucks you can bring in without having

She'd bring home more at 30 CPL...
...but do I deserve that for just sitting on my arse and typing? :) No.

Gas stations make a lot of money. Why do attendants only get minimum wage.

If you're THAT good, you'd be an MTSO.

Start your own business. Don't be lazy AND greedy.
I have them at my desk but no, I don't bring anything
to the living room to work. I've been on my same accounts with each company I work for since I started with them and I know the dictators extremely well.

I have an advantage with Spheris that I don't with MQ in that I can look up past reports by any criteria - by dictator, by patient, etc., to find anything that is a pattern.

The only book I occasionally reference is Tessier's The Surgical Word Book. Other than that, I have many online refences provided by both companies that they specifically want me to use.

I've done this over 20 years and I'm very fortunate -- I just don't have to look many things up anymore. When I do, it is usually a new product - instrument, drug, procedure, treatment, etc. Yesterday, I had to look up "Fansler speculum", which I had never had before. Probably refer to that book maybe 2-3 times a week. Spheris always sends me a new updated word list that includes newest information about every month. MTDesk has some really good references.

I have well over 70 websites that are "favorites" for reference.

When I travel and want to work, I only take The Surgical Word Book with me.

bring a magnet
whenever you go to look at a car. A magnet will not stick to Bondo.

I don't want to bring them to an office!! ???
Happy doing it this way! It works for me, and my MTSO has not complained once!
like to bring the QA issue to the top

There was a discussion about how MTs would prefer QA to handle correction situations.  Here's an example.  Right now doing QA on several "new" MTs that were kind of thrown into a new account.  They were all suppose to be very well qualified and only suppose to review for "format" issues.  Well.....spending a great deal of time adding text that was left out, changing things transcribed that was totally off the wall, besides the format part just not getting yet.  I try to be as 'tactful" as I possibly can, offer useful tips, give websites for lokking up info, etc.  But right now falling so behind and still making same "format" corrections I was two weeks ago because still not getting it right or just not reading E-mails!!  Our responsibilities only go so far.  We have to help but you also have to help yourself.  Don't transcribe anything you haven't documented somewhere and NEVER leave words out!!   That's my 2 cents!!

If you can't outsource, then bring them here

Just stopping the flow of records overseas is not going to solve the problem.  There is a special class of visa that industry can turn to if they cannot find enough American workers to do a job.  This has been used for engineers, IT professionals and nurses among others.  It is not necessarily that there are not Americans that can do the job, but that they will not do it for a low wage.  We need to pay attention to the immigration debate as well.  It isn't simply about poorly educated, low-skilled workers being involved in a guest worker program.

I bring laptop when I go away
The big problem I find is with our model there is a touch pad under space bar that you use as a mouse. Occasionally, I hit that while working, and it makes my cursor move or page up/down. I would suggest buying a mouse for it.
I bring in about $40,000.00 a year

bring your expertise!! sm
bring your expertise over to http://www.productivitytalk.com/forums/index.php.  they are always looking for new ideas!!
Yes, your posts you will bring it on yourself.

Maybe when you walk on someone else's shoes, you might not be soooo nasty.  That is exactly what you are, too, NASTY.

I normally do not say much on this board but after I have read some of the comments made to this lady, I am beside myself.  Who the heck are you to judge??  Evil people reap evil things.

You are right, Karma!!!!

Why did you feel the need to bring this up again?

I've done many reports where doctors say they prayed with the patient.  I'm about as anti-religious as they come, and typing that didn't bother me in the slightest. If a patient is religious and so is the doctor, I see absolutely nothing wrong with the doctor doing it OR dictating that he did it.

So I guess I am still failing to see your point in the original thread, or in bringing it up again. It's not offensive, and there is ZERO reason to even question whether you should type it, IMO.

So glad to see you bring
this up.  I had training on a new platform yesterday that lasted 1-1/2 hours during my "shift."  No one mentioned compensation and wondered how I would bring this up or if I was even entitled to it.
Yet YOU constantly bring this up.
YOU are doing exaactly what you are complaining about. Give it up. People come here to talk. That is what an open forum is all about. No one is forcing you to stay on this board and read, nor do they expect or want you to reply if you don't want to. You are the one who needs to give it a rest. Talking is what this board is all about. You are not going to stop that. If it bothers you, stay away. Thank you.
Bring passport...SM
I believe that this is legally acceptable in place of a social security card, though employers may tell you differently.

Check out (or as them to) the document needed to fill out to record your eligibility to work in the U.S. and the types of documentation accepted.
WHY NOT BRING THIS UP TO THE NEWS?
You would be surprised who many people DO NOT know their info is being sent over seas!!! You probably do... anyways... I am thinking of contacting my local news in Atlanta because they are always starving for a story. At least this way maybe someone with a little power can see it and maybe question it, or maybe do something like we are.
Yes..and the people were told to bring
to the Superdome. Yes..it was all over the news that they could come to the Superdome for shelter, but to bring at least 5 days worth of food and water for themselves. Most did not..and the ones that did probably had it ripped off. Of course, any reason to blame our current government, people will grab it. Just the way it is.
I go to alt-E and bring up the expansion menu sm
then I add a new header in there. That way, the new header created will be saved and usable in future reports. Maybe there is a better way - I do not claim to be a DQS genius, but this does work for me
bring him in late to school
Then they'll do make-up picture day later???
My opinion is that fate would bring
him from Switzerland and you from Chicago or vice versa and your paths would cross.  If you met "the one" you would just know it but that is just my opinion from having experienced it...soul mates just happen to be in the same city of whatever as you said it because God made it happen that way in my opinion but I'm just an old-fashioned romantic I guess.  I do believe there is 1 best person for everybody but maybe for those who don't meet God's best He has another plan for their life and not marriage, etc.  People who find the "one" just aren't more deserving or anything like that in my opinion it is just their destiny.  I also happen to believe that God brings people into your life sometimes for a specific reason or even just a season and not forever to accomplish a purpose he has in mind for you.  For instance, I had a child very young and did not marry the man.  Now I'm much older and married and cannot have children with my husband.  I sometimes think "why" can't my husband be my son's father and "why" couldn't I have met him instead of my son's father back then but in all honesty I don't think I was "ready" for my husband then and would not have appreciated him the way I did when I met him by meeting him later.  If I had not had my son when I did, I would never have gotten to experience being a mother.  I just think everything and everybody has a purpose but maybe that is just me.  Sometimes it is hard to see the bigger picture.
When I try to bring up a full sentence

in IT, it peters out after approximately four to five words, ending up with mumbo jumbo for the last few words.

What could I do to correct this?  Any IT experts reading the board today?

Thank you!

don't forget to bring a sweater

last outside evening wedding I went to was a little chilly. Hopefully they will provide some form of mosquito repellent!

I was not the first to bring race into the post, the OP was.

Transcription fairy please bring me sm

good, clear dictators, easy work, good work flow, interesting work (nothing boring now), a good attitude, excellent focus as my mind is wandering tonight,  no mistakes, 200 lines per hour, no distractions or interruptions, motivations to reach my goal, etc, etc, etc.

As you can see, finding it hard to work tonight. Feel free to add to the list.  I wish the transcrition fairy really existed, don't you?
